Each day, you will find space to breathe, connect with body and mind, and have silent moments for a deeper inner connection. Feel a healthy and conscious interaction with the environment on a sustainable farm. La Flor de la Vida guarantees that you will leave feeling refreshed and more in touch with who you are. The energy of the plants, trees, and people who are here will be always a beautiful part of your experience.
Instructions will be offered in English and/or Spanish.
The accommodations are rustic cabins created throughout the years of the existence of the farm. Dorms, private cabins, private rooms with shared bathrooms. Each of them is unique, but all include beds (single, twin, double beds), bathrooms, and hot showers. Sheets, blankets, and towels will also be provided.
La Flor de la Vida is convinced that a large part of a good experience is the quality of your sleep, so they are pleased to offer you a restful night with the sounds of nature around in one of their orthopedic mattresses.
They like to remind future guests that concerning the environment of the farm, the biodiversity that can be found on the property, and their willingness to protect this environment by not using chemicals in the gardens or the rooms, small insects may come to visit you from time to time in the cabin. Do not worry, they are harmless and are generally more afraid than you are.
They can host groups of up to 30 people for a variety of activities that include volunteering, language classes, yoga retreats, permaculture courses, and various events.
For this retreat, private accommodation is offered in either of the 4 cabins they have available for it. They are all different but with the same features and a private toilet and shower.
During this retreat, you will have daily yoga practices. Steven will guide you through choosing a dynamic and energizing practice in the morning or soft and Restorative in the evening. The practices will be adapted to all-level yogis and yoginis.
This retreat is intended for the balance of physical movement, silent practice, personal time, resting, community sharing, joy, laughter, and self-observation. You are welcome to experience life in this community by sharing, learning, and connecting.
Steven is a yoga instructor, a Thai Massage therapist, and a passionate agroecologist and dancer. Over the years, he has developed a growing interest in multiple styles of yoga, meditation, and different movement practices like dance, AcroYoga and contact improvisation. He focuses on developing physical, mental, and emotional agility through movement, breath, and meditation techniques. His purpose is to awaken and maintain your resilient, sensitive, and intuitive nature to live your life aligned with who you truly are, empowered to embrace your own creative energy.
The retreat venue is in front of the public school of La Flor in Paraiso, Cartago. It is 30 minutes from Cartago City Center in a town called La Flor. You can find them by searching "Finca Agroecologica La Flor". Buses arrive at La Flor from Cartago and stop 100 meters from their entrance. They have a 200-meter driveway before reaching their community center.

Food is an important part of a healthy life. That is why La Flor de la Vida pays close attention to what you eat and the whole process that exists before the food is on your plate. They provide a part of the diet with their organic produce from the gardens and buy the remaining food from local sources. Milk and cheese also come from the farm thanks to their goats and the expert hands that prepare them.
The cooks who will prepare your meal are all Ticas and live in the village, so they are neighbors and family on the farm for many years. They cook very well the typical Costa Rican dishes such as the Gallo pinto, the sopa Negra, and the ceviche but they are also very inventive and like to create original foods such as the delicious Yucca pie.
The meals are all vegetarian and they can offer vegan and gluten-free options if needed. So, enjoy three meals a day, fresh, locally grown, often organic, and prepared on a wood stove. In addition, you will all eat together (workers, residents, volunteers, guests) in the dining room with a family and relaxed atmosphere.
