"Perfect place to get away from it all"

Steven was a great instructor who took time to get to know me and tailor my experience specifically for my needs and goals. He’s very knowledgable and immediately makes you feel like you’re in good hands. The location of the farm meant that there were beautiful views all around and everyone there was so welcoming and lovely.

"Beautiful balance "

My best friend and I searched online for a place in Costa Rica where we could start our much needed summer break from a difficult school year with some rest and reflection in nature and Rancho Rana Roja was more than that. Living in a community that is committed to existing in harmony with nature for a week for me was transformative. My only wish was that I could speak Spanish to better communicate with our amazing caregivers, Marvin y Rosa. Luckily my friend speaks Spanish with proficiency, so I got to listen to a lot of conversational Spanish. Marvin and Rosa, their family, including Steven, our yoga teacher and Kara (whose plant knowledge we did not take advantage of, but hope to in the future) are truly passionate about their responsibilities to living in balance with nature and teaching it to others. They live simply and gently being guided by their knowledge of the farm, primary forest and the region and for me it was inspiring to be there. Our yoga guide, Steven is a gem. His guidance was extremely knowledgeable, humble, intuitive, and responsive. Our discussions gave me hope for the future of humanity. And his skills and energy as a Thai massage therapist was life changing! It is rustic beauty; the food was amazing, the cabina was comfortable, the river and waterfall refreshing, the animals, insects, trees and plants were magical.

"Calm Yoga Retreat in the mountains"

We really enjoyed staying at La Flor for our Yoga Retreat. The place is very calm, you can get a lot of rest and explore Costa Rican nature and food within a loving community. Steven is a wonderful teacher. He is professional, very caring and attentive. The yoga practice was energizing and calming and always adapted to our physical and mental states and needs.

"Relaxing oasis"

I escaped to La Flor De La Vida for a few days in February, where I enjoyed blissful days of sunshine and relaxation. It's a working farm, thus it was very interesting to see the animals and experience the vibe of Costa Rican life. Steven arranged transportation for me from San Jose and the airport, and everything I needed was provided on the farm. Food was delicious, wifi was great but only accessible in one part of the property (which I appreciated, because I wanted to disconnect) and the yoga classes were excellent. 100/100 would recommend to a friend!

"A little slice of farm paradise"

Steven's yoga classes were absolutely lovely in the stunning yoga shala. The farm was so charming and all the staff and volunteers were so kind and friendly. There's gorgeous trails for walks around the farm and hammocks for chilling out in. I had a fabulous laid back time, thank you everyone!

"Great teachers in a great environement"

The Finca la Flor is set in the hills of the Orosi valley. It is a very peaceful place where you cannot only do yoga with an amazing atmosphere and great teachers but also enjoy the food made of homegrown vegetables and fruit from the garden. I was really stressed when I arrived and had reached a state of peacefulness and relaxation which I havent experienced anywhere else. The teachers adapted the yoga poses to the different levels of experience of the students. I really enjoyed my stay and would totally recommend it to everybody else.

"Amazing Location & Yoga Practice"

I really loved the yoga instruction by Steven and Marine. They were thoughtful by creating a practice that was not only enjoyable but also extremely beneficial. Nonetheless, their assistance in various poses was wonderful. Thank you so much!

Additionally, the location is spectacular with beautiful views, amazing wildlife and wonderful people. The food is freshly made and comes directly from their organic farm. I also love their farming practices. They compost, do not use any pesticides or fungicides and have a wonderful irrigation system. I especially loved the fresh turmeric on site! It truly is regenerative agriculture at it's best! I'm truly grateful for the opportunity to have stayed there and would love to see them again.

"Best getaway! "

If you’re looking to getaway and relax with some yoga, this is the place! Everyone is so friendly and open. You don’t feel like a stranger or tourist while your here.

Beds are basic. Spring mattress, pillow, and blankets. If you have back issues maybe not the best for you, but my friends and I slept like babies!

It’s not far from town, yet it seems like you are! Definitely will be back!

Yoga was fun! Steven is very informative and shows modifications for poses for whatever level you are.

"Beautiful weekend of yoga, amazing food & new friends :)"

Steven organized such a great retreat! He's an amazing yoga instructor- explains everything in so much detail and my yoga practice definitely improved in just 4/5 days. My sister and I would consider ourselves beginners and we always felt comfortable with the movements. Some of the women who came with us were vegan/ gluten free so the chef accommodated for that- everything was delicious. (I actually decided to go dairy free after this because my body reacted so positively). The farm has Wi-Fi in the main cabin which is perfect for disconnecting. There's a lot of friendly animals (4 dogs, horses, goats, and a cat) and it's absolutely beautiful (wish I could add pictures to my review). I would definitely recommend this retreat for anyone looking for an eco-friendly, community- focused retreat in a scenic location. Pro-tips: bring rain-friendly layers, lemongrass essential oil/ travel-sized bug spray, and body wash/ shampoo (not provided). Thank you again for an amazing time, Steven!

"I fell in love!"

It was an overall amazing experience. It is a beautiful location and the food and accommodations were great, but the people living on the farm really made it a special place to visit. Steven is a very talented yoga teacher, and the owner, Bri, is just an amazing woman. I hope to return one day. I am so grateful for the experience.

"Excellent yoga and sweet people "

The yoga instructor was incredibly gifted. There was yoga twice a day, mainly ashtanga vinyasa but also some restorative. The food was all very healthy delicious vegan with some goat milk and goat cheese options from the farm. The farm and surroundings were so beautiful and the community members were so sweet and accommodating.

This is a wonderful place to connect with the nature, meet lovely people, eat good and organic homegrown vegetarian food, and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Exceeded my expectations in every way, and I’ll be sure to come again. Thank you to all of you who made it such a great stay, although it was (too) short.

"Blissful getaway"

La Finca is a wonderful place, in the mountains of Costa Rica. The accommodation is perfect, being in a little hut. And the food was really delicious and vegetarian, and best of all from the farm! Steven was an amazing teacher, really knowledgable and worked the classes as you would like with a mix between ashtanga and restorative. You could ask for the kind of class you wanted to do, depending on how you were feeling. Then spare time is spent with the amazing volunteers and workers who are so welcoming, you can walk in the woods, around the farm and we even went on a trip to a national park! Overall a really great experience and I would definitely go back!

"My first yoga retreat and I can't wait for many more."

I loved everything about Finca La Flor. It was the perfect setting to do yoga, meditate, read, hike and hang with the animals on the farm. Steven the yoga instructor was great. The food was simply fresh and delicious. The staff and volunteers were so friendly and nice. I had an amazing time, and hope to go back in the near future.

"LOVE THIS PLACE"

I was looking for a non-touristy place where I could do yoga and connect with nature and this place is exactly that! Throw in some awesome vegetarian/vegan cooking with things fresh from the farm plus an AWESOME community of people, Im super grateful I found this place. There were people around to socialize if I wanted but they also respected my time to myself. Steven is an amazing teacher. As a yoga teacher and Ashtanga practitioner myself, I really thought his sequencing was good(I'm kind of picky) and he is able to hold space incredibly well. I cannot recommend the yoga retreat enough

Wonderful people with a wonderful vision for the future. Food was delicious and local and diverse. The atmosphere was very comunal, rustic and tranquilo. The yoga was the perfect blend of intensity with inner reflection. I loved the incorporation of ashtanga elements.
