In modern societies, yoga has been deconstructed to be only a shadow of its complete whole. It is far from the complexity and power of the original yogic wisdom, which spans all areas of life and provides a holistic system of health, wellbeing and spiritual connection. At the Krishna Village, you will revive and learn yoga in its wholeness, so you can be a yogi, rather than just do some yoga. Krishna Village Eco Yoga Community Teacher Training is, therefore, a full immersion program that spans 200 hrs and will allow you to experience yogic living in its entirety. From daily morning yoga to seva in organic gardens, from philosophy classes to healthy food preparation, from kirtan singing to mantra meditation, you will live and breathe yoga, while being immersed in a kind, loving and supportive community. You will not only learn all required practices to become a fully accredited yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance, but you will also gain teaching practice with real students.

  • Henrike

Henrike came as a WWOOFer in December 2012 while on a road trip up the coast with her son. She stayed for a month, thriving in the peaceful and balanced atmosphere and the healthy organic environment. She moved to Murwillumbah in April 2013 and has since taken charge of the administrative side of the Krishna Village: finances, bookings, public relations, marketing, and so on. Her main focus is her life coaching practice. She holds a Diploma in Life Coaching, a master practitioner of NLP and, apart from coaching clients in her private practice, acts as a mentor for new life coaches for TCI.

  • Madreya Das

Madreya is the founder and head manager of the Krishna Village. He came to the Krishna farm in 2010, taking over the farm gardens to produce fruit and vegetables for the temple. Having managed big events like the Sydney Yoga Expo and the highly successful Govinda Valley retreat previously, he soon developed a vision beyond the gardening side of things and founded the Krishna Village, building additional accommodation, an outdoors kitchen, and other facilities. His main interest these days revolves around raw food, detox, and optimum health, so healthy nutrition is one of the main areas.

  • Lila Kirtana

Lila completed her Education degree at the Sydney University of Technology in 1998, and has been teaching yoga since 2005. From 2008 onwards she has been working full time as a yoga teacher trainer in Byron Bay. She completed pre and postnatal yoga training with Bliss Baby yoga in 2012, and now also is a regular presenter on their courses. After becoming a mother, Lila completed a kid's yoga teacher training with Zenergy yoga in 2014 and occasionally teaches mum's and bubs, mum's and toddlers and kid's yoga classes in the Byron Shire. Lila also holds a Diploma of Remedial Massage.

"I stayed in Krishna Eco Yoga Village with my friend for a one week yoga retreat, and what a treat it was! Accommodation was clean and comfortable, the shower/toilet block was not far from my room, with showers which worked well. There was a convenient open plan kitchen with a large storage fridge, a large stove, kettles, and a toaster. The setting is delightfully picturesque, and the atmosphere friendly and calming. The three daily meals provided were vegan/vegetarian and it was delicious. The yoga classes were lively, non judgmental always, informative. For sure, I shall be returning.", edited

"One of the greatest gift that I gave myself was a one week yoga retreat stay at Krishna Village. This magical land allows me to connect with my true self and every beautiful being I have met there. I took two days Balinese massage course by Karen and Dee. They are wonderful teachers with special ability to love and heal. I can feel my heart is smiling when I think of them. Everything about it is amazing, the nature, the food, and the people. I left with my mind open and my spirit high!"

"Krishna Village supports every aspect of Yoga practices, from the familial community to the healthy food al the way to the expertly taught Asana classes. The daily kirtan sessions have inspired me, as well as digging in the dirt and connecting with the Earth in the huge organic gardens. "The Krishna Yoga community is a beautiful, inspiring green home away from home. I stumbled upon the Krishna farm as I was seeking a Yoga retreat and a week away from my hectic city life, although the yoga was gentle and cleansing, it was the community of beautiful, kind spiritual seekers, travelers and like minded souls that inspired me the most. The entire property is truly heaven on earth, set amongst the rolling green hills of the Northern Rivers and a short distance from the dramatic Mt Warning. The property is a sanctuary of bountiful vegetable gardens, shared community and dining spaces, a yoga hall, grazed paddocks and high on the hill, the temple of the Hare Krishna community. Guests can choose to pay for a Retreat, a daily fee which includes a daily meals (An incredible mix of raw and vegetarian/vegan meals shared in fellowship at the Hare Krishna temple), twice daily yoga practice, life coaching and spiritual dharmic talks, as well as the option for massage and healing therapies. Alternatively travelers, or WOOOFING volunteers can participate in karma yoga/ board in exchange for farming/ harvesting or gardening work. Accommodation ranges from shared dorms, single rooms, camping spaces and parks for a van. The community of transient travelers and the resident staff truly make the Krishna village a magical and transformative experience. Stay a week, a month or many months at a time, it will certainly leave a warm impression on your heart long after you go home..."

"I visited Krishna Village for a week and attended a Balinese massage course. Both my stay and the course were amazing. The village and surrounding nature is so peaceful, I felt an enormous calmness as soon as I stepped out of my car. The organization and the people who live there make you feel at home straight away. The massage course by Dee and Caren was one of a kind; they are wonderful people and teachers and gave the participants the confidence to massage with their heart. The results were amazing. The Krishna devotees at the Temple are very friendly and open to tell you about Hare Krishna, without judging you if you have other viewpoints. And they know how to cook delicious food! All in all I had a unforgettable time and would love to visit this special place in the (near) future."

"“Life Changing!” I went on a one week retreat expecting to do some yoga and relax. What I got was a profound spiritual awakening , on a piece of property that could be the garden of Eden. The retreat sits just at the bottom of the majestic mountain which houses the temple. With fruit and nut trees scattered all of the property one can never go hungry. We were fed 3 vegetarian meals a day that were lovingly prepared and delicious even for the most avid meat lover. The rooms were clean and fresh. Simple and rustic making me wonder what more could one need to live in bliss. What is really special about this place is how you are welcomed and embraced into a family of strangers who work together to create the absolute haven. The yoga and meditation were on another level that words could not describe. I will be back many times to this garden of eden as amongst strangers. I have never felt more at home."

"“Great relaxing retreat!” I came for a one week yoga retreat to get away from city life. All the staff were really friendly and had a great warmth to them. The yoga teachers were the most advanced I'd met and had a wealth of experience in all kinds of different yogic styles. I learnt a great deal even from just a few classes. I really enjoyed the location (Yoga village) being on the cusp of rain forest and the sounds of the beautiful birds in the morning. The surrounding farmlands and friendly cows also added so much to the experience. The food was also amazing and I came out of it feeling as light as a feather."

"“Best holiday destination in a long time”. This place has got it all: broad minded people young and old, green and lush surroundings, wholesome food, no distraction by luxury or nonsense, and most of all, something useful to do. I did the intensive weekend massage course and it was life changing. The trainers were supportive and encouraged us to develop our own style from the start. I love massaging and I had no idea! It's a life skill and I'm going to master it!"

Loved doing yoga twice a day and the life coaching and philosophy classes were fantastic! Also really appreciated the opportunity to sit in on talks at the temple which were always really interesting and a good way of being introduced to the Hare Krishna culture. Thanks to everyone and we'll be back!"

"I recently stayed at the Krishna Village and participated in the Intuitive Balinese massage course and it was amazing. The atmosphere of the village is calm and relazed with a great energy in an awesome setting being overlooked by Mount Warning. The accomodation is fantastic and the gardens are colorful and tranquil. The course was perfect and ran for 2 wholesome days with Dee and Caren being great instructors and awesome people. Whether you are seeking a career in massage, or just want to gain another life skill, the course is perfect with a lot of hands on experience. I definitely recommend the course, and looking forward to a career shift. the vegetarian meals were fantastic and it is such a friendly and inviting atmosphere. Eating at the temple was awesome. Thanks Krishna Village! I will be back with my family next time. Looking forward to attending the yoga classes and workshops."

"The most perfect week! I've just spent a week at Krishna Village Eco Yoga Community over New Year and the whole experience was incredible! We'd start the day with an early yoga and meditation session, then wander up to the temple for vegetarian breakfast. We had time to relax before a workshop type event in the yoga hall, normally for a discussion where I have learned so much. Afterwhich, We would have a raw lunch with produce picked and grown from the farm. We had more yoga sessions at 5pm. We were served yummy dinners and then we went to bed. To top it all off, I've made some amazing new friends.Everyone should experience the Krishna Village. The world would be a much kinder and calmer place."

"My partner and I had a truly magical experience at the yoga retreat. Even on our first day of being in the Krishna Village, we were feeling the benefits already. Fuelled with abundance of energy and overwhellmed with happiness and a sense of belonging so much, that I consider quitting my job and stay with them instead to volunteer. Krishna Village is the perfect escape from reality, really helps you bring back to earth and begin a journey of self exploration, reconnect with nature together with your body, mind and soul. It wa so refreshing to be sorrounded everyday by lush green rolling hills and the soothing sounds of nature. Permanently being in a meditative state from the amazing sorroundings. We really would go back in a heart beat and highly recommend it to everyone. Thank you to all the team and volunteers at the Krishna Eco Village Yoga Community, it was a vary special and memorable experience. " website, edited

"I stayed here for a week, basically to recuperate after illness. I found the atmosphere to be very quiet, healing and soothing. I slept so soundly in a room (away from the camp kitchen) looking out into bush or rainforest and awoken each morning by the stunning birdlife calls. As has been said before, this is not meant to be 5 star accommodation, but you have everything you need and management are obliging with any requests made. For me the cool air, natural environment, peacefulness and lush green surrounds were everything I was craving. The vegetarian food, I have to say, Im quite addicted now."

This farm is a great spot to go for insights, relaxation or really just some good work in the dirt of an old volcano-valley. Lovely people, lovely little containers, lovely gardens and energy."
