The Krishna Village is a joyous, inspiring, energetic community of young and old spiritual seekers, travelers, and yogis. If you are coming with an open heart and mind, you will make many beautiful connections and experience life in a whole new way. Krishna Village Eco Yoga Community is here to provide a blueprint of what life can look like when you live it in a spiritually based, simple and yogic way. To 'retreat', in their opinion does not have to mean to withdraw from people and be alone. It means to step away from life as you know it and immerse yourselves in a different environment, lifestyle, and culture with the intention to learn, grow and broaden your comfort zone.
The Yoga Teacher Training is designed for a full immersion experience where you are living the complete yogic lifestyle which involves far more than just asana postures. It includes practicing meditation and pranayama, understanding Ayurveda and nutrition, reading the classic texts of yogic masters, singing Kirtan, and doing Karma yoga work. All these practices are part of a holistic yoga experience and will benefit and inspire not only you but also your future students.
As a trainee, you will be supported by the experienced staff all along and start by teaching a single posture alongside your trainer in a gentle early morning class. You will not be asked to do any teaching before you are deemed to be ready and all teaching is discussed and debriefed as a key part of your growth as a teacher. There is plenty of practice before you get in front of a class and this process of slow, mentored instruction means that your confidence is right alongside you when you get to the teaching assessment tasks at the end of the course.
Krishna Village Eco Yoga Community’s Yoga Teacher Training is structured to give you the right balance of practical learning, Karma yoga, and physical activities, structured and self-study time and free time to explore the surrounds, head to the beach, or read a book in a hammock. You will need to prepare for the assessment tasks needed to be a competent and safe yoga teacher which is factored into your daily schedule. There is one full day off a week (usually Saturdays) and Sundays are usually dedicated study days. One of the many benefits of an immersion course like theirs is that you do not have to do relentless 12 hour days and then work remotely without a break - instead, you can work at a steady pace with plenty of time and space to absorb and integrate your learnings.

Michael began his yoga journey at the age of 20 when he left his profession as a studio musician and joined a Bhakti yoga monastery. For the next 10 years, he traveled Australia, New Zealand, and India as a celibate monk, daily studying the traditional yogic canons and engaging in strict daily yogic sadhana. Then, after another six years as a traditional Vedic (Hindu) priest, he took an interest in the more physical aspects of yoga. He successfully completed a three-year diploma course with Satyananda Yoga before finally finding his passion with Power Vinyasa.
He is a philosophy teacher, a teacher by noon, and a rapper by night. At 17, he was noticed by Young Entrepreneur after joint-founding a company that personalized gifts in Greater London, which went on to win a Future100 award for ethical and environmentally-friendly business. Having been to India 7 times over the past 5 years to study and explore the secrets of the Indian wisdom texts like Bhagavad-Gita, he was invited to teach philosophy and host interactive life seminars in universities and institutions in the UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Nigeria, India, Australia, and New Zealand since 2010.
Nestled in the foothills of Mount Warning, in the heart of the Northern Rivers of New South Wales, the Krishna Farm “New Govardhana” is a 1000 acre property with orchards, certified organic veggie gardens, cows, horses, streams, and swimming holes in abundance. New Govardhana serves as an ashram to a community of yogis who aspire to live according to their deepest vows and commitments on their path of service, spiritual contentment, and happiness (Bhakti Yoga). Their service and dedication make this location a beautiful place of growth, healing, and spiritual awakening. If you are interested, please come along and visit our beautiful Radha Govardhandhari temple. The Krishna Village is located halfway between Byron Bay and the Gold Coast about 30 minutes inland from the Pacific Highway. The closest town is Murwillumbah where several bus services stop on their way to Byron Bay, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
You will be served daily vegetarian breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Krishna Farm has been producing organic veggies since the 1980s and has, therefore, fantastic conditions to grow excellent produce. They grow as much of their own food as you can and otherwise buy locally wherever possible. They will provide three delicious vegetarian meals every day with mostly-raw food lunches taking place at the Krishna Village community kitchen and breakfast and dinners - mostly Indian style - will be served at the prasadam hall next to the temple.
It is your choice as to how you choose to eat outside of the Yoga Teacher Training. However, many yogis adopt vegetarianism as they progress in their commitment to yoga and begin to shift their awareness about their interconnectedness with the world. All food is prasadam - sacred food prepared in a consciousness of loving service. Like in other cultures, they offer the food before you eat to say Grace and thank the Divine for the sun, the rain, and all the visible and invisible blessings necessary to co-create a delicious meal. Please feel free to sing along with Krishna Village Eco Yoga's community or just listen and enjoy.
One principle most Eastern philosophies have in common is "ahimsa" or non-violence towards all living entities. This is why you will not find any meat, fish, and eggs here and why The Krishna Farm also avoids animal products like gelatine, animal fats, etc. You are recommended not to bring meat, fish or egg products to the farm and living a vegetarian lifestyle for the length of your stay.
