Students who complete the training are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).

About the training

Kootenay Yoga School's carefully designed program will provide you with a full understanding of yoga as a science, presenting advanced Hatha and Yantra yoga practices.

This 200hr training focuses on developing a strong personal practice. It focuses on implementing the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Mysore Style of practice, while incorporating Maty Ezraty's alignment concepts.

You will learn inspiring new asanas that are often completely missing from other styles of yoga. Both formats are complemented with a Meditation technique that can be traced back as far as to Buddha.

This program is designed for dedicated practitioners who sincerely seek a solid know how.

Being familiar with the Mysore style of practice will be helpful but its not required to participate in the program. Kootenay Yoga School asks that students arrive ready to learn, focus, and grow.

Your time during the training will be grounded in meditation and applying the philosophy and practice of yoga to your daily life. Each student will have the opportunity to practice teaching small groups. This transformative 15-day intensive will open doors of perception and catalyze shifts in the way you relate to yourself, each other, and your yoga practice.


This course will include daily yoga and meditation practice, asana and pranayama labs, and a variety of workshops designed to help you gain the knowledge and confidence to lead students in asana classes and workshops of your own. Topics are not limited to :

Students will have the good fortune of being less than a three minutes walk away from the shores of the Caribbean in both directions. Easily enjoyed are the calm swimming waters of the west, or the breeze cliff edges on the east.

Students can walk the relaxed streets in either direction to find swimming and shopping areas, live music, and even cultural centers. Less than 500 meters south of the center is the sacred traditional land of Punta Sur. This area is known internationally as a healing center, and the home of Mayan Goddess Ixchel (the goddess of fertility) walking the cliff edges is purely magical. Enjoying a sunrise meditation on this land is nothing less than inspirational.
