You will stay at Narasoma Retreat Centre for 6 nights. Your accommodation is a charming family compound with its own private retreat center and yoga shalas - right in the heart of Ubud. This is a small venue with 8 shared twin rooms for retreat participants (maximum of 16 places). If you are coming alone, you will be matched with another participant.

On the ground of Narasoma is a new retreat center with a rooftop yoga shala, its own outdoor kitchen, and pool. Lovely, comfortable rooms are air conditioned with wide balconies. Your retreat venue has a small meditation cave and beautiful, tranquil places on the grounds to meditate and spend time alone.

Healing and transformative

The Yoga Rejuvenation and Healing Retreat is a carefully designed program and opportunity to delve beneath the surface of the usual yoga retreat experience in Bali. You'll be guided by yoga teachers with decades of teaching and facilitation experience. You will immerse yourselves in the deeply spiritual traditions and rituals of the Balinese people and attune to the healing potential of the sacred waters and this incredible land. You'll emerge revitalized and ready for the new year ahead.

Facilitated by Robert and Mandy of Kookaburra Yoga, the retreat program has a generous balance of yoga, meditation, relaxation, breathwork as well as a healing ceremony with Bali's youngest high priestess, a healing chakra meditation at the sacred Besakih Mother Temple, bathing in the volcanic waters of Mount Batur and under a sacred waterfall and secret grotto under green cliffs.

Sacred Water of Bali

Bali's spiritual and healing traditions honour, revere and incorporate the cleansing, renewing and healing properties of water and include many rites, sacred ceremonies and focussed healing in the water temples, palaces and also stunning natural rivers and waterfalls. During this retreat you will visit some of the most sacred waters of Bali in thermal springs, a water cave and waterfall. You will also visit Bali's youngest high priestess Ida Resi who will perform the 'Melukat', a traditional water purification ceremony for each guest.

Daily schedule

  • Arrival: arrive anytime on the 16th December. You'll be met at airport and transferred directly to retreat venue. You can check in to your room from midday. Retreat program commences at 16:00.
  • 06:30 - 07:30 Healing meditation; deeply healing and energizing early morning Mano yoga meditation & Pranayama practice (1 hour)
  • 07:30 - 09:00 Hatha yoga. Morning Hatha yoga sessions are dynamic (yet gentle), strengthening (yet cultivate softness) and focus on: meditation flow for prana activation, restoring inner balance and equilibrium, deepening mind/body connection, releasing tension and blockages, activating relaxation response (1.5 hours)
  • 09:00 Breakfast; fresh, vital, living food breakfast in the private dining area.
  • 10:00 Mid-morning session (days 2, 4, and 6). Empowering and insightful group sessions with Robert and Mandy which include pranic breathwork; mastering meditation techniques; yoga philosophy and satsang where participants are guided to recognize and release inner obstacles to health, happiness and fulfilment and to envision and prepare for the year ahead (2.5 hours).
  • 12:30 Afternoons free time (days 2, 4, and 6). Afternoons are free to relax deeply at this beautiful venue, indulge in massages at the in-house spa, or any of the nearby spas and healing centres. You may also like to visit the nearby Ubud markets and stores to shop for Christmas gifts. You're a short walk from both the Royal Palace and the spectacular Monkey Forest.
  • 10:00 - 16:00 Group day trips (days 3 & 5). Day 3: Besakih Mother temple for a guided chakra meditation. Bathe in healing volcanic springs at Lake Batur. Day 5: Balinese high priestess Ida Resi for a Melukat (water purification ceremony); we also go to the incredible Tukad Cepung Waterfall and a secret meditation grotto within spectacular green cliffs at Undisan.
  • ​Outings are approximately 6 hours and replace morning & afternoon program on days 3 & 5.
  • 16:00 Yoga, pranayama and meditation (days 1, 2, and 4). Sunset yoga sessions are blissful and restorative with a Yin focus to restore vital life force, release muscle tension and tightness in connective tissues; cultivate mindfulness in movement; and deep relaxation. You'll also learn and practice raja yoga pranayama and meditation techniques (2.5 hours).
  • 19:00 On the evening, explore the many vegan, vegetarian and organic restaurants of Ubud - there are many options for dining within close walking distance of the retreat centre. Dinner is at your own expense (except for last night - Kookaburra Creek Yoga host a celebration dinner featuring traditional Balinese cuisine).
  • Departure: retreat program concludes at 11:00 after the mid-morning session on the 22nd December. You're welcome to enjoy your room until midday. If your flight is later in the evening, you are welcome to enjoy the venue until your departure home.

  • Mandy BeckerKnox

    Mandy has been studying and practicing yoga since 1990 in both India and Australia. She has had the great privilege of studying directly with AG and Indra Mohan of the Svastha Yoga and Ayurveda Academy in Chennai; with senior teachers of the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Chennai; with Maharshi Somanatha of the Somanatha Kshetram in Hyderabad; and with acharyas in the Ananda Marga tradition.

  • Robert Becker

    Robert Becker has been practicing and teaching yoga for over 36 years in South Africa, Mauritius, India, and Australia. Robert was initiated into yoga and meditation as a young man by his Diksha Guru HH Sri Swami Venkatesanandaji Maharaj of the Sivananda tradition, Rishikesh and was given the spiritual name Narayan. Robert spent many years practicing intensively living in ashrams and travelling in India before settling into family life.

​The venue is a gorgeous private retreat centre with both an outdoor and indoor, air-conditioned yoga room and wonderful spaces including a private open air dining hall, meditation cave, luxurious pool, air conditioned bedrooms, within a traditional regal compound. Located in the heart of Ubud, the venue is walking distance to wonderful cafes, healing centres, the palace, river, shops and craft markets - the perfect place to shop for your Christmas presents.

During this retreat, you will be served daily vegetarian breakfast. A group dinner is also included.
