Kirpal Meditation and Ecological Center in Pahoa, Hawaii, offers a wonderful spiritual uplifting environment to heal and grow. Located on the eastern tip of the Big Island of Hawaii, this refreshing yoga retreat setting is very close to the ocean for safe swimming, snorkeling, and soaking in the thermal warm ponds, and it is not far from Hawaii only active volcanoes where one may view flowing lava.
Kirpal Meditation and Ecological Center is an off-the-grid retreat center that can accommodate up to 30 guests on an idyllic ten-acre property. It is situated on ten acres featuring organic fruit orchards with a beautiful Balinese meditation pavilion for prayer and healing as well as the yoga pavilion that can accommodate up to 20 yoga practitioners or a seated audience of 100 persons.
Kirpal Meditation and Ecological Center offers a wide range of accommodations depending on your level of comfort and privacy. It is varying from a private cabin with its own kitchen and bath to a simple single bed private cabin including a variety of options in between. All bathrooms have flush toilets and the showers have hot water. Accommodations are simple and comfortable with no televisions or phones. All paths and people are welcome to this peaceful, sacred place for your meditation, yoga, healing, or vacation holiday.
Yoga Hale is a Kirpal Meditation and Ecological Center largest event space. It has a floor space size of about 20-feet by 40-feet and has about 1000-square feet of floor space. It can accommodate over 100 people sitting or stand or about 20 people stretched out and lying down (i.e. on yoga mats). The Yoga Hale includes its own kitchen and full bathrooms. Yoga Hale has queen-sized beds which can lodge two persons.
Meditation Hale is a Kirpal Meditation and Ecological Center’s Balinese meditation pavilion which opens 24 hours a day for prayer, small group meetings, yoga, or solitude. Custom made in Bali, it is a very holy and special place for prayer and reflection. It can accommodate from 30 to 40 people sitting on cushions. It is equipped with a TV, DVD-player, Wi-Fi, light, cushions, and own independent solar power system.
In order to accommodate you during your workshop, Kirpal Meditation and Ecological Center has available a large variety of items for your use and some at no additional cost. You will receive a list of these items eight weeks prior to your arrival. Items can include back jacks (floor-level seating with back support), flip chart with its stand, folding chairs and tables, free and fast Wi-Fi internet service around much of the center, iPad dock with speakers (CD player on request), laptop / mp3 player hookups, TV and VCR / DVD player, yoga mats, blankets, straps, and props.
All Kirpal Meditation and Ecological Center cabins can be occupied by one person or two persons (except Milo 1 and Papaya 1 cabin which is each of single occupancy, and Rollinia cabin which can take up to four persons along with Mango which can sleep four comfortably).
Dragonfly Cabin has a queen-sized bed which can lodge one or two persons, usually for couples. It's very private (romantic) and has its own toilet and outdoor shower. You can find solace in this cozy screen cabin nestled in the Puna jungle with a partial great ocean view, light trade winds, a lanai (deck), and hot shower. It is near the meditation pavilion. The fully-equipped shared kitchen is about 800 feet away.
Butterfly Cabin has a single bed which can lodge one person. It is very close to the Dragonfly Cabin. Kirpal Meditation and Ecological Center never rents it out if the Dragonfly Cabin is occupied except if it is a party of three.
Ocean Vista Cabin has a queen-sized bed which can lodge two persons. One of most popular Kirpal Meditation and Ecological Center Cabin. It has a great expansive view of the ocean with deck and private shower with toilet. This newly built screen-cabin is tucked into a pleasant opening in the jungle, overlooking a 500-acre ranch, giving a panoramic view of the coastline.
You can enjoy amazing pink and the red sun rises over a wide swath of ocean to the east while basking in the gentle trade-wind breezes coming through the trees. As open and airy as you can get, featuring a spacious lanai (deck) and its own treehouse-like bathroom lanai about 30-feet (10 meters) away. A hot shower and vanity sink are all semi-enclosed, but still private, up in the branches of primitive looking Lauhala trees. The shared kitchen / social area is an easy 100 feet stroll along our level driveway.
Mango Cabin has a queen-sized bed which can lodge two persons. The cabin is a lovely octagon cabin with the shared fully equipped kitchen and two full clean and modern bathrooms, with a great jungle view are about 60 feet away.
Rollinia Cabin has a double bed plus two bunk beds so it can sleep three or four persons for the same price. Having elegant and cozy atmosphere, it will catch your breath from the hustle and bustle in the serenity of this cabin which offers lovely furniture. The shared fully equipped kitchen and two fully equipped clean modern bathrooms featuring a great jungle view are about 60 feet away. Children under 12 are free of charge.
Lilikoi Cabin has a double bed which can lodge two persons.
Noni Cabin has a queen-sized bed which can lodge two persons. The cabin is the largest cabin with its own private kitchenette, terrace, and bathroom and it is close to the yoga studio.
Papaya Cabin 1 has a single bed for one person.
Papaya Cabin 2 is facilitated with bunk beds which can accommodate two persons.
Papaya Cabin 3 is facilitated with bunk beds which can accommodate two persons.
Milo Cabin has a single bed which can lodge one person.
Milo Cabin 2 has a double bed which can lodge two persons.
Milo Cabin 3 has two single beds which can lodge two persons.

Kirpal Meditation and Ecological Center is a sustainable community in the center of Hawaii volcanic and natural wonders. This property was once a papaya farm and is now newly planted with soursop, jackfruit, pomegranate, rollinia, a variety of bananas, figs, passion fruit, mamey sapote, avocados, papayas, sugar cane, coconut, lilikoi, and guava. There is also loquat, cacao, macadamia nut, cashew nut, noni, star fruit, breadfruit, tangelos, grapefruit, oranges, tangerines, lemons, pomelos, and more.
The octagonal Balinese meditation pavilion is set among shade-trees with an expansive view of the ocean. The island wildlife is all around Kirpal Meditation and Ecological Center which has a variety of birds by day and at night, the pleasant chirping of Coqui frogs, and no snakes. Natural wonders include Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, lava and crater viewing, volcanically heated warm ponds directly on the ocean, steam vents (as outdoor saunas), and other wonders of the lush tropics.
Kirpal Meditation and Ecological Center offers guest the use of their community kitchen, fully equipped, plus organic fruit from their orchard when in the season.
Included in your price are fresh locally sourced organic breakfast and a vegan / vegetarian dinner. There are other meals available upon request. There is an award-winning chef to prepare your locally grown mostly organic gourmet vegan meals on request.

Islands Naturals Market and Delivery is a natural foods store with takeaway food service located just off the main street in downtown Pahoa.
Makuu Farmers Market sells Hawaiian crafts, plants, produce, jewelry, shells, ethnic and recycled clothing, food, live music, records / CDs, and books from approximately 150 vendors. It opens from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday. The market is located in Makuu Farmer's Lot in Keaau / Pahoa Highway, bypass road.
Pahoa Village Farmers Market is a large, covered, outdoor market with fresh fruits and vegetables, clothing and jewelry, food and coffee booths, music, kava bar, and more. It opens from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday. It is located in downtown Pahoa in the Akebono Theater / Luquins parking lot.
Several restaurants in Pahoa are open every day of the week.

You can delight and help yourself to fresh organic tropical fruit at Kirpal Meditation and Ecological Center spacious and open organic trees property. Any fruits and vegetables grown at the center can be shared.

MacKenzie State recreation area is a quiet and accessible picnic spots on spectacular lava coastline and not for swimming.
There are many natural attractions in the vicinity of Kirpal Meditation and Ecological Center. These can be visited by arranging a paid adventure with Kirpal Meditation and Ecological Center guide if required or if you prefer to explore on your own, you can be renting a car from the airport is a good option as well.
You can try snorkeling at Kapoho Lagoon Reef and tide pools on Kapoho Bay. The place is pleasant and safe.
You can try snorkeling at local tide pools which are limited to 5 persons and two hours. The cost for this tour is 12 USD per person.
Kirpal Meditation and Ecological Center has certified masseuses, acupuncturists, food detox experts, and horticultural therapists which can provide you with services or suggestions. Costs are not included in retreat. Sessions are typically between 75 and 90 minutes which includes a comprehensive breakdown of each person needs and short-term goals.
You can try surfing at Isaac Hale Beach Park. Also known as Pohoiki, there is an oceanfront park, boat launch, and surf location along Pohoiki Bay. However, it is recommended for experienced surfers only. Kirpal Meditation and Ecological Center rents surfboards at 20 USD a day
You can enjoy swimming at Black Sands Beach at Kehena. With A hard but short climb up and down, swimming could be dangerous. This is a clothing optional beach and frequented by dolphins.
You can enjoy swimming and snorkeling at Issac Hale Boat Ramp Park. On Pohoiki Bay, swimming is safe and has easy access. You can find a small warm healing pond as well. There is no entrance cost. Snorkel gear is available at 6 USD a day on Kirpal Meditation and Ecological Center.
Thermal swimming at Warm Ponds (Ahalanui Beach Park). The area has a spring-fed thermal pool, safe and relaxing, fine view, and warm to hot healing waters at the ocean edge. No entrance cost is charged.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is one of the best crater viewing and nature museums. You can enjoy a half-day tour which costs 70 USD per person.

Please book a Hele-On Bus, Hawaii County mass transit agency. You can take into account the very limited public transportation via the Hele-On county bus that leaves from downtown Hilo. This is a slow but inexpensive option that comes to Isaac Hale Beach Park if you can coordinate schedules. Isaac Hale Beach Park is located approximately a half mile down Pohoiki Road from Kirpal Meditation and Ecological Center Hawaii. For more information, please visit the Hele-On bus website.
Transfer rate from and to Hilo International Airport (ITO) on a regular taxi is about 70 USD in total for four passengers in a shared taxi van each way.
