"I will never forget my week long vacation here at Kindred Spirits, Magellan Inn. I rode horses every day and was right in the middle of the most beautiful wildlife, nature, beaches. I loved my room. Almost as much as I liked the riding was the cooking of the owner Terri. It was incredible and so good for you. I have never felt so healthy as when I left there after 7 days of riding and their fresh and delicious food there. I hope I can come back again."

"Terri, the owner of Magellan Inn and Kindred Spirits, performed an alignment of Chakras to my husband. If you never had this done, do your homework first. Read about what the Chakras are and what do they stand for......only then, you can get a full effect of the alignment. Terri was thorough, soothing and effective. My husband, who has done this before, gave her an A+. Next time, I will have it done too."

"Life at Kindred Spirits made me go back to my inner child and see how much she needed horses and nature to thrive in this world. After the first ride with Aña, my body remembered again the joy and freedom of galloping. The connection between a woman and horse in movement. I felt like a little child again. And everything what horses ever meant to me came back. It took quite a while to rediscover the natural trust and courage children have with animals. But Greyjoy, Shiloh, Bill, Aña and Brego were excellent teachers, all with a very different message to tell. And Terry was always there to exchange feelings and ideas and guide with everything she learned from life and horses. As Terry was following a course with Carolyn Resnick, I could follow firsthand how she constructed a magnetic connection with Shiloh. And even try it with Greyjoy! I cannot describe it in words, but being connected with a horse makes one realize how interconnected we all are. How we are so intrinsically related to the living environment and are responsible to take care of our Home, the Earth. It is an amazing gift to feel this connection and strength. And once people find the magic in the creation, the magic of their connection with their environment and the power in their hands to create with thought and body, I’m sure it will bring more happiness and joy. More open eyes, realness and truth. More acceptance of your Self as a woman, a human, an inhabitant of the Earth. Only for this, I recommend You to go and discover Kindred Spirits. [...] Kindred Spirits is a place where you can remember what is important in life. How apparently simple things have a major value and help you to stay real and alive. And all this by experiencing it in practice through work with the horses, yoga, work in the garden and the hotel."

"Another strength of Kindred Spirits is that you are encouraged to be creative in whatever way you want to give form to your ideas. I got the freedom to create gardens, to make wild salads, hibiscus flower wine and herbal medicines, to paint and to open my mind with the many books Terry has. The continuous presence of the ocean and all the plants and animals, the sounds of nature that always surround you, the smell of rain and flowers can sparkle a flame in any person. The warmth enables you to relax and breath and start seeing yourself as You rather than with all the judgments of our society and community. And so what is Inside becomes more vivid and alive through your own creations. Terry is also always willing to listen to ideas for change or improvement and lets you contribute your experience to Kindred Spirits. As such, our common enthusiasm for the Earth and Women got form when we started “Mothers of the Earth. Growing, Loving, Sharing” with two other women in Cahuita (whom you wills surely meet). We want to let women see how beautiful they are, how strong, creative, brave, and how they can become connected to their own bodies, taking control of their own lives. Through organic gardening, environmental education, awareness raising and connection with horses, we strive to let women see how they can make a difference in their life and in their community. Mothers of the Earth is on facebook now (thanks to Lexie, Terry’s brilliant daughter) and you are all invited to contribute and become part of our starting organisation!"

"To become volunteer at Kindred Spirits also enables you to become part of a network of enthusiastic people with a goal to grow a more sustainable world. Cahuita and its surroundings buzzes of people who are involved in organic farming and trade. There are plenty of occasions to attend workshops, to talk with farmers, to become involved in projects and broaden your knowledge on these topics. Terry is a perfect companion as she is always looking to learn more about plants, healing, the earth, gardening etc. She successfully finished a two year training at the Escuela de Ciencias Espirituales y Terapia and as such guided me through several meditations to know where I am in life. She is also a long time practitioner of yoga and together with Corinne Aulakh, creates quality and professional yoga retreats with horses (see site for data). Moreover, we had countless lively conversations while cooking (I miss those ones!), eating dinner, walking to the horses etc. So much to experience, think about and discover that it will never get boring! Moreover, next to the horses, there is a whole family to encounter: the two fabulous daughters of Terry: Eve and Lexie, the four dogs Jasper, Duffy, Felix and Roxy, two tigers (cats), the two parrots Jack and Chica, Leida the best receptionist who is engaged in so many projects and all the other people working at the Magellan Inn…!"

"Words are inadequate to describe how grateful I am to have lived at Kindred Spirits and to be welcomed and accepted in the family. Thanks to my volunteer experience and the encouragement of Terry and Co, I dared to believe in another story and audition for Cavalia. Today, I find myself in France in the training to go and work with horses in Cavalia! If you want to have an impression of the horses and kindred spirits, see our audition video:"

"To everyone with an open mind, interest to learn and discover and courage to be challenged and confronted with your Self, I say: go and volunteer at Kindred Spirits and transform your dreams into reality !"

"I can not say enough good things about my visit. The staff, owner and critters of all sorts were extremely welcoming. I opted for no air conditioning room which was beautiful, clean and allowed me to hear the ocean ( if room doors to private patio were open ) & the numerous lovely sounds of nature. The beach is a short walk, so be prepared appropriately. Excursions for snorkeling, state park & cocoa plantation were wonderful. The women I met changed me in unimaginable ways. Loved this hotel and all associated."

"This was our first horseback riding vacation and it exceeded all our expectations! We enjoyed the accommodations--just six guest rooms, and the gourmet food. We loved the fact that every day was planned for us, from riding on the beach and jungle, to snorkeling, to hiking with a guide in the national park, to a visit to the sloth sanctuary. We especially enjoyed our gracious host, Terry, who made everything thoroughly enjoyable."

"We came to ride horses and explore an exotic place. The horses are well cared-for and a pleasure to ride, especially on the beach. The inn is beautifully landscaped and well-kept. It's home to a variety of friendly animals, which we enjoyed. The parrots came to know and talk to us. The dogs and cats were hospitable and the chickens provided fresh eggs, along with a rooster serenade. It's a short walk to beautiful black-sand beaches and a slightly longer walk to white sand beaches. Surfers enjoyed the "wave" on both. We enjoyed both local restaurants and the dining at the Inn - settings are casual and the food is fresh and delicious. Yoga in the mornings (by appointment) was fun, Terry presented a mix of disciplines. If you are looking for a treat that's off the beaten path, this is a wonderful choice."

"I attended the yoga and horses retreat hosted by Terry and Corinne back in September 2014. I dream of returning every day! The Magellan Inn is a beautiful piece of property. I miss listening to the sounds of Costa Rica, laying in the hammock and watching the cute agoutis looking for coconut shells. Corinne is a great yoga and horse instructor. She has a very unique ability of connecting with horses and finding the spirituality in a space shared by both humans and horses. Having almost zero experience with horses, by listening and observing her actions, she made me feel comfortable enough to surrender and feel safe. She is a genuine person and very down to earth which makes practicing yoga with her fun. She offered a good mix of techniques of connecting with what was going on in our bodies and what was going on in our hearts and soul. The true meaning of yoga: union! Terry is a wonderful woman and a great cook! I am grateful for her hospitality and for the opportunity to work with her beautiful horses."

"In the month of May I did the yoga teacher training with Corinne Rosita Aulakh in Cahuita. It was a beautiful and enriching experience in so many ways, learning from Corinne as well as from the other students. Corinne is such a warm and kind teacher, sharing her knowledge in a generous and accesible way. She has a deep knowledge of yoga gained from many years of practice and time spent in India, and has a way to share that knowledge with ease. With equal amounts of seriousness and laughter she was guiding us to the core of yoga in the peacefulness of Cahuita. Some mornings we walked down to the beach for morning practice in the rising sun while the waves were crashing in the wild and empty playa grande. We meditated with the horses, had dance meditation in the garden of the hotel and many candlelit practices on the platform in the evenings with the jungle with all its soothing sounds surrounding us. We were a small group of students and given lots of opportunity to practice teaching from early on in the course. Corinne created a safe space for us to share and learn from each other. Encouraging us to go deeper in our practice, living a yogic life style to understand what it means to do yoga by practicing it in every aspect of our lives. Through lectures, asana practice, a lot of practice teaching and discussions about yoga philosophy she made us ready for being teachers of our own. Thank you Corinne, Terry, and all the amazing women sharing this experience with me!"

"Magellan Inn was such a lovely place. Yoga platform is gorgerous. You can practice yoga in the backyard and listen all animals around. After that you can soak your body in lovely swiming pool. It is very closed to beach about 5-minute walk and not so far from Cauhita. Staff is very friendly and helpful. You always got super fresh fruit for breakfast and lunchs and dinners are amazing too. And what can be better than riding horses on the extra long beach without people."

"May showers bring May flowers and to us May brought us beautiful yogi flowers. Each one a shining light in their own way, each with a natural gift that they will share with the world, making it a better place, just through their presence. I thank each and every one of these girls and women; Kelly, Katherine, Rajna, Linda, Laurel, Sukie, Johanna, and of course, our very special teacher and guide, Corinne! I was also a student and now as all the others am a certified yoga teacher. Each one taught me something and I hope I was able to give them a little something for their way, food for thought. The gift of horses, what they teach us, and how they can heal us in so many ways."
