KesmaItalia invites you to join in this experiential voyage to Kerala, to practice yoga and experience the traditional Indian culture. You will get a glimpse of the style of life of this country, seeking to approach it in an authentic and respectful manner. The voyage will also focus on rejuvenating your body, mind, and soul through the practice of Ashtanga yoga and Kalaripayattu (the oldest Indian martial art), Ayurveda treatment, traditional Keralan food, meditation, and chanting of mantras.
The maximum participants in the group is 18.
During this retreat, you will be staying at Kappil Paradise Beach Resort. It is a typical guest house on the sea in Kappil, a place that has retained its authenticity and is vastly different from the anonymous resorts of the cliffs. The guest house faces the sea and is about eight kilometers from the more touristy cliffs of Varkala.
This retreat is not a tourist package, but a yoga voyage to India in collaboration with Kesma, the Indian school of the Kalaripayattu master, Jayachandran Nair. KesmaItalia will accompany you on this journey, making the knowledge of the area and experience with the local environment available to you. The focus of the journey is yoga practice, but there will also be free time to visit local places, receive Ayurvedic massage, and relax in front of the sea.
Arrival in Paradise Beach Resort. Upon arrival, you are free to relax and familiarize yourself with the area.
Ashtanga and kalarippayattu workshop. The typical day will start with morning mantra songs and meditation, walking in nature, and a morning yoga session (Ashtanga Vinyasa). Afterwards, you will have brunch followed by free time from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00. p.m. In the evening, at 5:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m., you will have a Kalaripayattu (most ancient Indian martial arts) session with Indian master, Jayachandran Nair, or an Ashtanga yoga in depth class. You will end your day with a sunset meditation session.
End of workshop. After the morning practice, visit Varkala Ancient Temple.

Francesca is an Ayurveda therapist and direct student of master Jayachandran Nair. She had a theater training at the Theater of Contradiction in Milan with a degree in theater history. She has worked in association with many organizations and works as an artist in some creations.
Jayachandran is a Kalaripayattu master. In August 1993, he was awarded the certificate of merit for best Kalaripayattu expert by Kalari Dekshina Marma Thiruni Kerala Association. Ever since, he has worked as Kalari master with the Indian group Milon Mela, directed by Abani Biswas (in collaboration with J. Grotowski in the Springs Theatre), with whom he traveled throughout Europe for performances and workshops. In 2003, he opened his own school at Trivandrum, Kerala School of Martial Art.

Tommaso Valentini is a performer, Ashtanga yoga teacher, and Kalarippayattu artist. He is a direct student of Indian master Jayachandran Nair at Kerala School of Martial Arts, Trivandrum. He began studying in 2004 in India, where he stayed for very long periods by practicing daily at the master's school. In 2008, he was awarded the master certification. In the same period he starts studying yoga, he has 200 hours YTTC in Ashtanga yoga. He's practiced with international Ashtanga yoga teachers as Kristina Karitinou and Manju Pattabhi Jois. He is qualified to teach two series of Ashtanga.
This retreat will take place in Kappil, Kerala. It is the cradle of Ayurveda, the traditional medicine of India. You will have the possibility of experimenting with regenerative massage using hot, herb-infused oils in a traditional clinic. The seminar will take place in Kappil, a peaceful place on the sea, not far from the more touristy Varkala and the capital city Trivandrum.

During the retreat, you will be served daily morning tea and delicious brunch and dinner. The meals will be typical South Indian vegetarian food (mild spices).
During the retreat, there will be free weekend, which you can use to organize an excursion to explore surroundings. KesmaItalia can help you organize the excursions, such as backwaters tours, a visit to Amritapuri ashram or Trivandrum city, and more.
You will have a traditional Ayurveda treatment and massage with warm herbal oil or herbal powder, depending on the prescription.
Please book your flight to arrive at Trivandrum International Airport (TRV). Transfer from the airport to Kappil Paradise Beach Resort is included (only for arrival on 3/4 January 2018). KesmaItalia will send a shared taxi to reach the resort.
