Yoga and Ayurveda Holiday in Kerala

The ancient practices of yoga and Ayurveda are gaining worldwide prominence these days. In India, the home of these gems, yoga and Ayurveda, have been practiced since thousands of years. Kerala, a small state located in south India, is famous in tourist maps for its immense natural beauty. We, the travel planners, have developed a tour package which combines the practices of yoga and Ayurveda, along with jungle walks and naturopathy while travelling through the picturesque locales of Kerala.

Simple yoga asanas and breathing techniques practiced for seven days will help you to learn the essentials of yoga giving you mental peace and body balance. Day 1: Cochin

You are greeted on arrival at Kochi International Airport/railway station by the travel planners representative and thereafter, will be driven to the hotel. In the afternoon, you can go for sightseeing at Cochin. Here, you can see the St. Francis Church, the oldest Church in India, 500 year old Portuguese Houses, Chinese fishing nets, 16th century Synagogue, Jewish Town, and Mattancherry Palace built by the Portuguese. This palace contains some of Indias most beautiful murals. The palaces and synagogue will be closed on Fridays and Saturdays. Later in the evening, watch a Kathakali dance performance, return to the hotel, and stay overnight at the Casino Cochin.

Day 2: Thattekad (1.5 hour drive)

Early in the morning, we will proceed to Greenix Village for yoga. After breakfast, we are going to proceed to Thattekad bird sanctuary. We will be staying overnight at Soma Birds Lagoon Aurveda Resort.

Day 3-4: Munnar (5 hour drive)

After breakfast, we will drive to Munnar. On the way, we will visit Kodanad Elephant Camp where bathing and feeding of elephants can be seen. Later, we will proceed to visit Cheyyappara Waterfalls. On the way to Munnar, you can see tea gardens spread like a green carpet over hundreds of kilometers and lush green hills. A place so difficult to describe for its beauty. It has a very low population and is far from pollution. Most of the area is covered by Tata tea. On arrival, we will finally check in to the hotel and relax. We will be staying at The Spice Tree Munnar.

The next morning, we will go sightseeing in Munnar which includes Mattupetty, Eco-Point, Tea Museum, Pothamedu, and more!

Day 5: Thekkady (3.5 hour drive)

In the morning, we will drive to Thekkady covering a distance of 110 km through Cardamom Hills. We will then check into the resort, Green Forest. After lunch, we will visit spice plantations like cardamom, pepper, coffee, and tea estate etc. On way back to the hotel, you could stop at the local market and pick up some fragrant spices.

Day 6: Kumarakom (3.5 hour drive)

After breakfast, we will drive to Kumarakom, a water locked place endowed with immense natural beauty and array of rivers, canals, and lakes; an ideal place for a boat cruise. On arrival, we will check in to a traditional Kerala style houseboat and cruise through the backwaters. It is the fabulous way to explore the fascinating beauty of the backwaters.

Day 7: Kollam (2.5 hour drive)

After breakfast, we will disembark from the houseboat and proceed for village visit and local family lunch at Muhamma. After lunch, we will go to Kollam and stay at The Raviz Kollam.

Day 8-11: Poovar (3 hour drive)

After breakfast, we will transfer to Poovar. On arrival, we will check into a beautiful backwater resort. During the evening, you are free to relax at the resort (Poovar Island Resort). Mornings spent in Poovar will be occupied with yoga and Ayurveda sessions. Afternoons and evenings are mostly your free time.

Day 12: Trivandrum (1 hour drive)

On the last day, after breakfast, we will proceed to Trivandrum for departure. On the way, you can go to the famous Kovalam Beach and go sightseeing in Trivandrum. Here, you can see the 260 year old Sri Padmanabha Swami Temple, covering an area of 2400 sq. km, Puthan Maliga Palace Museum, Napier Museum, and Sri Chitra Art Gallery.
