Kata Hot Yoga

Hot yoga studio wellness and spa for yoga classes retreats and holidays

Instructors 1

Govert Van Lankeren Matthes

Govert is originally from The Netherlands and worked as a contractor for many years. After noticing his body was practically always aching from this kind of work, he decided to take a yoga class in his hometown, Amsterdam. He found out that it really relieved all these aches and started to get more interested in the world of yoga. It only took a while before he decided to start all over and packed his bags to achieve his yoga teacher certificate in Hawaii. With the dream to open his own hot yoga studio, he ended up in Phuket, a place he visited before when traveling many years ago.

"Kata Yoga Highlights"

Location, the view from our apartment, walking meditation, yoga on the beach, swimming with Govert's dog and a great sense of achievement after completing 7 consecutive days of Hot Yoga. Steam room and oil massage, visit to the temple to be blessed by the monks. Finally, eating a meal in a beachside café watching the sunset.

"My first Yoga retreat"

The location of the studio and apartment was great, only 5 minutes from the beach. The Yoga teachers came from around the world and all of them were very good. It made a real difference to be taught by a variety of people, as each instructor emphasised something slightly different allowing me to greatly improve my practice. The apartment had really good Wifi which made communication really easy for me. The early morning exercises on the beach while not overly strenuous, increased my core strength in a short period of time and this was reflected in my practice.

I had an unforgettable time at Kata Hot yoga. I'll definitely recommend this yoga retreat. It was the best decision ever to book the kata hot yoga retreat. De morning walks on the beach were unique and the hot yoga classes were amazing. The yoga teachers were very professional and inspiring, I have learned a lot from them. If I have the change to go back to Kata Hot Yoga, I will do so without doubt!!!

"Great experience!"

Govert and Nong are just amazing. They're so motivating and really care about you and your tiny sorrows and try to find the best solution for everyone. The daily walks on the beach and the following workouts are the best start in the day! The daily swims in the sea, the massages, the herbal steam room: Everything's just perfect. If you want you can do hot yoga 3 times a day! What else do you want? Studio is very nice and clean. Hope we can come back very soon!

Kata Hot Yoga

We had the great pleasure to visit Kata beach and Kata Yoga studio - in Phuket/Thailand – for a short week in March 2016. Kata Beach is a calm place with a lot of nice people. Kata yoga studio is an highly proffesional yoga studio, always filled with sunshine in the afternoon. We had hot yoga every day in the evening, and the best fresh coconuts afterwards. The owner, Govert and his wife Nong were a nice company throughout the whole week. "Early mornings» for all of us every day, and "silent walk" on the beach with strengthening exercises before breakfast:-)

Govert and Nong took us around to several nice places in the local area, for typical Thai massage, lunch with nice local food, and to "the great Budda" – a Buddist temple that is still under construction. Our trip to the natural heated steam room - a sauna heated with burning wood, was a special and nice experience.

We had the most wonderful days at Kata beach with Govert and Nong as our ”hosts”. We travelled all the way from Norway, and we felt us at once at home at Kata Beach. A beautiful beach, with restaurants and fantastic sea view and gorgeous local food. "

Nice studio, good teachers. For beginners and advanced. Kata Hot Yoga is our favourite in Phuket. Best coconuts after class!

While reading some of the reviews, I've come to notice that a People don't know the difference between yoga and hot yoga.

Hot yoga is more intense because of the higher temperature

I've visited Kata Yoga on multiple occasions and the quality of tracking is high. The staff is friendly and helpful. Nong & Govert are doing a great job!!

Since the humidity in Thailand is a bit higher, I would advice to bring water into the class. Afterwards, coconuts are available for 70 bath. Showers are in the dressing room.

This is by far the best Yoga that I have done. I totally recommend this place to lose weight and make you feel fantastic. Well worth the effort.
