"Panch" means five and "karma" means action. So, in general, Panchakarma means five different ways of treatment. According to Ayurveda, diseases formed in the body are due to the formation of toxins, or ama. Regular cleansing of the body by removing this ama is recommended. Panchakarma is the cleansing process which helps in the elimination of ama from the body and thus prevents the formation of disease. It is a cleansing therapy to strengthen the body’s metabolic functions with herbal medicines and controlled food habits.
The basis of the therapy is elimination. As the wastes and excess of doshas are eliminated from the body the person becomes healthy. Those who suffer from the chronic disease are said to benefit from it tremendously. In Ayurvedic terms, it also helps those who undergo a seasonal imbalance of tridoshas. This therapy is recommended for maintaining youthfulness and building immunity and resistance against diseases.
The Panchakarma treatment is found to be helpful in chronic diseases where treatment with allopathic medicines has its limitations. Rheumatoid arthritis, skin diseases, hemiplegia, polio, epilepsy, insomnia, hypertension, cardiac problems, intestinal diseases, peptic and duodenal ulcers, ulcerative colitis, and asthma are some of the conditions where this therapy proves of immense help.
Yoga originated thousands of years ago in India as a technique to help people achieve spiritual enlightenment. Today, people practice yoga to improve their physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Most forms of yoga involve physical postures, breathing exercises, and meditation.
Iyengar yoga is meant for all and is a way of life. The use of props, designed by B.K.S. Iyengar Guruji, such as wooden gadgets, belts, and ropes helps the practitioner to achieve perfection in any Asana. Regular practice of 'Iyengar yoga' definitely integrates the body, mind, and emotions.
Yoga strengthens and tones muscle, improves balance and flexibility, and increases blood flow and vitality. The practice of yoga helps anyone to gain good health, mental peace, emotional equanimity, and intellectual clarity.
There are senior yoga teachers from B.K.S Iyengar Institute as an Iyengar yoga teacher who is master in the yoga. The doctors at Kare Ayurveda and Yoga Retreat are also masters of Iyengar yoga and they are also conducting yoga sessions.
Practicing daily for 45-60 minutes is a good goal to work towards. The more you practice the more you will avail the benefit.
