Thai yoga massage (65 EUR/1.5 hours)

A unique and powerful massage therapy combining acupressure, gentle stretching and applied yoga. This traditional ancient healing art has been handed down from teacher to pupil since the third century BC. Thai Massage works on an energy line system (the ten sen) through which the body's natural life force flows.

Blockages in this life force cause aches, pains, and disease. The therapist uses hands, feet, and elbows to apply pressure to important points along these lines, in combination with gentle stretching and applied Hatha yoga. This releases blocked energy and frees the body's own natural healing potential, thus restoring balance, health, and harmony.

Full body aromatherapy massage (65 EUR/1.5 hours)

Aromatherapy massage is particularly suited to conditions involving stress or improving emotionally-related conditions. It is a massage with highly concentrated plant oils added to the massage lotion. Our sense of smell is called the limbic system and this system controls emotions and influences the nervous system and hormones.

When you inhale essential oil molecules, messages are transmitted to the limbic system which affects heart rate, stress level, blood pressure, breathing, memory, digestion, and the immune system. Essential oils are also absorbed through the skin. Each essential oil has different healing properties. For example, some are calming while others are energizing.

Indian head massage (40 EUR/ 45 minutes)

This wonderful treatment originated from the ancient system of holistic medicine, Ayurveda- “Ayur” meaning life and “veda” meaning science or knowledge. Indian Head Massage provides relief from discomfort in the areas where most tension is held: upper back, shoulders, upper arms, chest, neck, scalp, and face.

The techniques used help to clear the mind and achieve a calm state of consciousness, while the selected aromatic oils nourish the skin, scalp, and hair. It is an effective yet effortless way to release mental and physical tension, leaving you with a deep sense of well-being which has to be experienced to be fully understood.

Chiropractic alignment and deep tissue sports massage (50 EUR /1 hour)

Using the gentle and holistic approach of McTimoney-Corley Chiropractic in conjunction with a number of muscle energy, positional release, and massage techniques, the therapist assess and treats a wide variety of muscular-skeletal issues, ranging from postural imbalances and flexibility problems, through to more serious muscular and skeletal injuries, both acute and chronic.

Yoga practitioners are not immune to injury and many people discover that long-term skeletal misalignment is the cause of limited flexibility or discomfort which, if not healed, can often lead people to giving up exercise altogether. Deep tissue sports massage can be given either on its own, or in conjunction with chiropractic alignment.

Naturopathy and nutrition (Person to person consultations 50 EUR/1 hour)

Veronika Poola is a qualified Naturopath and Nutritional Therapist. She adopted a 99% raw food diet about 6 years ago and since then her main focus has been giving advice on natural nutrition and detoxification. She will teach you how to make positive nutritional and lifestyle changes via a healthy diet based on fruit, vegetables, grains, and super foods.

She will give you healthy alternatives to your present diet that won’t compromise your palate, and offer advice on which natural health supplements (super foods) will best serve to boost your internal health and energy levels. Veronika believes that an annual or bi-annual detoxification is an essential part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Mind-body acupuncture ( 65 EUR/1.5 hours)

This is a powerful tool for diagnosis and healing of physical, emotional, and spiritual disease.

The essence of the therapy is to observe the energy imbalances within a person and then work to assess why these have arisen. The next stage is a process of letting go of these issues, and finally creating tools that you can utilize to help you with a new approach to life.

Mind-body acupuncture is a technique and a science from China that combines diagnosis and treatment in one session. The precision of the system is profound and subtle, reaching far beyond the "drugs or surgery" approach of western medical science.

Reflexology (50 EUR /1 hour)

The conditions of your feet are an indication of what's going in your body and the therapist is happy to discuss this with you. If you have emotional issues that come up during the treatment, the therapist can explain how having a foot reading session can identify and resolve negative issues that happened in the past but may still be active in your sub-conscious.

Foot reading (65 EUR/1.5 hours)

Foot reading is a development of reflexology in which the client's life history is discussed in connection with present symptoms. It is often found that unresolved emotional trauma from the past is a powerful driver of present chronic conditions, both physical and mental.

Quantum SCIO (65 EUR/1.5 hours)

The Quantum SCIO therapist assesses your organic, systemic, chakra and energetic function. The Quantum SCIO heals as it diagnoses using bio feedback technology. SCIO stands for scientific consciousness interface operating-system. During your consultation, you will learn how present physical and emotional symptoms relate to unresolved past events in your life.

The Quantum SCIO also tests for food intolerances, nutritional and mineral deficiencies and allergies. At the end of the treatment session the Quantum therapist prescribes further treatment where necessary, including homeopathy, Bach flower essences and natural supplements.

Bio magnetic pair therapy (50 EUR/1 hour)

What can bio magnetism heal? Biomagnetism is the best shortcut to correct imbalances in the body. Simply by changing the Ph balance in your body, these special magnets can correct a broad range of illnesses that can all be easily eradicated, including: candida, sinusitis, rhinitis, psoriasis, parasites, and herpes. Virus, bacteria, fungus and parasites don't stand a chance against the PH healing power of biomagnetism.

Also if you are doing a juice fast, the biomagnets help to expel heavy metals from the pancreas, liver, and kidneys. The therapist uses kinesiology to diagnose imbalances in your body, then she places the small but powerful magnets to specific areas of your body for a period of 15 minutes. During this time, your blood passes many times through the magnetic fields which correct any imbalance in your body's Ph, thereby neutralizing the pathogens.

Driving directions from Malaga airport

  • On leaving the airport follow signs for Malaga and then signs for Sevilla, Cordoba, Granada, Almeria and Motril (A7).
  • After about 10 kilometers, the motorway splits into two motorways, it is important that you now keep to the left on the A7 in the direction of Almeria and Motril and that you don’t follow signs for Cordoba, Sevilla, and Granada. You are on the Autovia del Meditaraneo driving east along the side of the sea.
  • The motorway runs out shortly after the ‘La Herradura and Almunecar’ turn off, and the slip road rejoins with the coast road for about 10 kilometers.
  • After the Salobrena turn off, take the direction for Granada and Jaen and rejoin the motorway (A44 autovia de Sierra Nevada). You are now driving north and inland.
  • Continue on this motorway until junction "175 kilometers" (about 20 kilometers from the coast), and turn off in the direction of Orgiva and Las Alpujarras.
  • The slip road brings you down hill to the large dam and roundabout where you turn right towards Orgiva.
  • Keep going until you go through a tunnel, then turn left over the River Guadalfeo towards Orgiva.
  • Continue through Orgiva town. Bear left at the traffic lights before the church, (signs are for A348 Lanjaron and Trevelez).
  • As you leave Orgiva you will pass a small BP filling station near the bridge, then carry straight on and after 0.5 kilometers there is a larger BP filling station on the right.
  • Continue for about 1 kilometers and you will see 'Camping Puerta de la Alpujarra' campsite on your left with red pyramid shaped roofs.
  • Carry on about 400 meters - there is a short section of straight road followed by a sharp right hand bend.
  • Slow down at the chevron, Indicate left and turn left immediately by the long green hedge and the community bin shed.
  • Now choose the track that runs between the glass-fronted bus stop and the sign for Olive Mill. Don't be tempted by the other track near the hedge, it's a dead end.
  • Having turned off the main road, drive along the unmade track slowly (it's quite bumpy).
  • You will pass a white farm building on the right and then at the bottom of the hill is a building called "Fabricolat de Queso de las Alpujarras".
  • Follow the road to the left, past a round water container on the right.
  • Continue straight on for about 600 more metres. Keep going straight, don't take any turnings to the right, you're nearly there.
  • The Kaliyoga sign is on the right just after the brow of a steep uphill section.

  • Review by a traveler from Newport Beach, California

"I entered this place and it felt just like home!! We had a great yoga week and our group returned basking in the glow of this amazing retreat. I had Lelly and Artanza as our yoga teachers - beautiful vibe, loved their authentic practice and complementary styles. Jane is the office manager and took great care of all the house guests and the lady who booked my trip was super helpful with making all the arrangements. Food was unbelievable, healthy and fresh. Kicks in a detox. I did 4 therapies - completely different from one another - good combination for relaxation and reflection. Summers can be hot so be prepared. They have a nice pool. Yogashala is very peaceful. Must Visit!!"

"I came to Kaliyoga after a hard and hot week of trail running in Loja. It was like coming to my personal designed Paradise. First to be met by Jane, with glittering eyes, then introduced to this heaven; so beautiful, harmonious and with a benevolent atmosphere, with a fantastic nature, view, pool, sounds and smells of lavender, rosemary and jasmine. We had exquisite raw food every meal, all we needed was provided for. I also got the opportunity to have a session with Kym, a fantastic sound healer. The session with her was very important for me. Julie, our beautiful yoga teacher guided and taught us through our chakras over the week, with very effective yoga poses, and a containing and caring sensitivity for all the participants. I am so happy that I got this opportunity to spend a week at Kaliyoga and experience this bit of heaven on earth!"

  • Review by Henrietta

"Before the retreat I was stressed, tense and over-anxious. Even when I didn't have lots of work to do, I made myself worry constantly. This did not make me the best person to be around! I was also very consumed by thoughts about my weight and an obsession with healthy eating and exercise. Kaliyoga has changed my life and how I will approach each day from now on. Every morning at yoga, with our focus on breathing and meditation, I began to feel calmer. After each massage, I learned how tense my body was and that I needed to give it a break; and after seeing Celia, I felt almost cured of an eating disorder that I have been dealing with since I was 15. Most importantly, I have realized that I must embrace life! I must embrace my job as I know I love it. If I approach something positively, even if it's something boring or difficult, it will be so much more enjoyable. If I am calmer, I just know I will feel better and be kinder and more patient with others. Kaliyoga has made me learn how to honor myself and others; we are all different, we are all unique and that's what makes us all beautiful. Thank you so much for an incredible stay."

  • Review by Benjamin from Oxford, UK

"I had nearly 2 weeks at the Italy Kaliyoga with Tashi. Three things were outstanding; the teaching, the staff and the food. The venue and location are not bad either! There seems to be a natural flow of goodness about this retreat which stems from the authenticity of the teaching itself. Around that a staff of helpers and managers seems to have added itself effortlessly into the place in a way which complements the philosophy and the tone of the teaching. Then the food fits into that cocktail seamlessly. And the programme itself, although ostensibly simple, seems just right; enough to be worth it, but not too complex. I recommend the massages and therapies too. It all just... works.Overall I was able to visit a new place inside myself, from a lapsed, non-expert yogi, and for that I'm really grateful. Honestly I thought it seemed expensive when I booked, but when I left, I thought it was priceless."
