The school has seven bright and very clean double rooms facing the beautiful valley and mountains of the Himalayas. The rooms cost 15000 INR per month, which is included in the package price. Six of them have a private balcony and a small kitchen with propane cook top and cooking utensils. One room is without a kitchen or balcony and availability is based on early booking. Each room has a private bathroom with shower and hot water and is equipped with two sets of bed linens, a duvet and towels. The school is located 100 meters from the main square. Here, all facilities are available, next day laundry, fresh fruits and vegetables, multi-cuisine restaurants, internet, etc.

You may also arrange your own accommodation nearby and Kailash Tribal School can help you find a suitable place. There are plenty of hotels around from 500 INR a night and above. A decent accommodation may cost INR 800 a night upwards.

This 500 hour teacher training at Kailash Tribal School, is an advance training course for 10 intensive weeks. It is a combination of the 200 hour and the 300 hour courses together. You will graduate from the 500 hours AYTTC program as a highly specialized yoga teacher uniquely qualified to work with the students you feel drawn to serve. Furthermore, you will be equipped to offer Ayurvedic yoga therapy as well as meditation therapy.

This program asks for your full commitment to being on the path of the teacher, starting with deepening your personal practice and helping you to teach in an active, therapeutic way. This 500 hour course is available for any 10 week period from the 1st of July to the 14th of December each year, and it is comprised of both the 200 hour yoga teacher training and 300 hour yoga teacher training taught within a 10 week period.

Yoga mat, yoga mat cover, carry bag for study materials like books or study manuals will be given. Two sets of uniforms and all study materials are provided. All this is included in the course fee. Books and reading material will continue to provide you with in-depth knowledge and information once you return home. Many students mail their books home - this is an affordable option to keep your luggage light.

This yoga teacher training course will have 7 contact hours per day. Tuesday is a day of rest with no contact hours, time for self-study and open book assignments. During non-contact hours, students familiarize themselves with theoretical aspects of yoga, prepare assignments or presentations, and practice independently. At the end of the course you will be a certified yoga instructor, eligible to register with Yoga Alliance.

Students are expected to

  • Be punctual for all classes and arranged meetings in relation to the yoga school.
  • Students will not engage in additional classes other than those offered by the school.
  • Avoid the use of intoxicants while taking part in any of the courses.
  • Be respectful and polite toward the teacher.
  • Be respectful, polite, honest and fair in their interactions with fellow students.
  • Follow the yogic lifestyle as outlined in the Yamas and Niyamas.
  • Inform the teacher about any pre-existing or arising health conditions and issues.
  • Be focused on the course, its content, and practices.
  • Contemplate the teachings and engage in discussions with the teacher if any issues or questions arise.

It lies on a spur of the Dhauladhar range in the Pir Panjal region of the outer Himalayas; and commands majestic views of the mighty Dhauladhar ranges above, and the Kangra Valley below. Dhauladhar means white ridge and this breathtaking, snow-capped range rises out of the Kangra Valley to a height of 5,200 meters (17,000 feet).The Kangra Valley is a wide, fertile plain, crisscrossed by low hills.
