    Day 1

    Following your day of travel, which culminates in a splendid 45-minute boat ride across Lake Atitlan, you will have an opening ceremony to gather all together and end the day on a relaxing and peaceful note.

    Day 2

    Start the day with morning yoga to gradually awaken and energize in the beautiful lakeside Blue Tiger temple. After a delicious breakfast, enjoy a spacious day of your own design. Explore Sumaya’s beauty and let the weariness of travel wash away. Perhaps you will choose to swim, kayak, or get a massage. Late afternoon yoga will unwind and restore you.

    Day 3

    Following morning practices to open the body and heart, you will adventure into nearby shaman caves and explore the world of Mayan mysteries. With late afternoon yoga, you will dive into the divine inner landscape of the human body.

    Day 4

    Morning practices and a hearty breakfast are followed by an unforgettable hike to El Pico De Cielo, which, at 8200 feet above the sea level, offers a spectacular view of the Atitlan basin below. Gain keen insight into the culture and people of Guatemala from expert local guides. Your day ends with a well-earned Restorative yoga session to unwind and release.

    Day 5

    You will enjoy a longer, deeper, and even more delicious morning yoga session this day including pranayama and meditation. You have plenty of free time to spend as you wish on the dock, in the lake, or maybe you will plan an adventurous zip-lining excursion. A playful end of day practice takes your yoga off the mat as you let your yoga dance.

    Day 6

    During this day, there will be more yoga, breath, and meditation to practice, more mouthwatering healthy food to enjoy, more time with new friends, delicious time to retreat, reclaim, and reimagine. Take a scenic boat ride to historic Santiago, climb a volcano, visit Guatemala’s most famous marketplace, Chichicastengo, or go on a guided birdwatching expedition.

    Day 7

    You will spend your final day together integrating the blessings of this transformational journey, ensuring that these gifts last long beyond your return home.

    Day 8

    It is time to say goodbye, pack up, head home, and dream of Villa Sumaya and when you will return.

    During the retreat, you will take an all-day unforgettable hike to El Pico De Cielo, which, at 8200 feet above sea level, offers a spectacular view of the Atitlan basin below, or gain keen insight into the culture and people of Guatemala from expert local guides.       Jurian Hughes, E-RYT 500, MFA, is a pathfinder. Through the gateway of the body, she guides students to connect with themselves in ways they had forgotten were possible, longed to revisit, or maybe never even knew were there. Jurian is a dedicated, passionate, and eloquent teacher of yoga, meditation, dance, and voice. She joined the Kripalu School of Yoga faculty in 2006, where she has led dozens of yoga teacher trainings, workshops, and programs.

    Villa Sumaya's chef will prepare three delicious vegetarian meals for you per day. Coffee and tea are available all day. Fish or chicken and alcohol are available options.

    Arrival by airplane

    Please book your flight to arrive at La Aurora Airport (GUA). Transfer from and to the airport is included. Jurian Hughes will pick you up from the airport. Arrange to arrive at the airport by 2 p.m. on February 25th and to depart after 12 p.m. on March 4th. If you would like to arrive a night early to meet the shuttle, Villa Sumaya will be happy to provide hotel recommendations.

    Arrival by taxi

    You may also choose to arrange your own shuttle or taxi if you prefer. From the airport to Panajachel on Lake Atitlan is a two and a half hour drive. Then you will need to board a boat that will take you directly to Villa Sumaya.

    • A reservation requires a deposit of 6% of the total price.
    • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
    • The rest of the payment should be paid 42 days before arrival.
