Healing Retreat and 100-Hour Training in Austria

Join Joan Hyman with The School of Yoga in the beautiful Austrian Alps at Soami Retreat Center for a 100-hour training. This training is for anyone looking to deepen their yoga practice and embark on a transformation journey, for students who looking to receive their 200-hour teacher training (Second Part of the 200 Hybrid YTT), as well as for students working towards their 300 hours. Enjoy long morning practices threaded with pranayama and deep asana practice. The lecture and theory will be in the afternoon after a delicious brunch in a picturesque setting of mountainous views. Soami Retreat Center is a detox center that includes medicinal-based organic high-quality vegan cuisine.

Minimalism, clarity, and noblesse

In the Soami “Zenrooms” you will find a place of naturalness and retreat. Each single/double room has its own bathroom with shower, WC, and terrace. The rooms are comfortable and quiet and beautifully designed by SOAMI built according to the rules of Feng Shui philosophy which creates a safe space to go inward.

The beds are made of untreated beech wood without screw connections and the use of metal. The mattresses are made from high-quality, organic natural rubber from an Austrian producer.

Stay in a private or shared double room featuring an ensuite bathroom and a balcony.

The course/hours count as Continuing Education hours for Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®) only.

This training is suited for yoga teachers and students looking to gain a deeper understanding of the practices of yoga.

Participants will take a deep dive into these topics:

  • Review the anatomy of the asanas on a physical and subtle body level
  • Understand the 5 koshas and how to elicit them in your practice and life
  • A deep dive into understanding how to access asanas on a deeper level and advance in your practice
  • Explore the nervous system and the benefits of a therapeutic practice
  • Restorative yoga and working with props
  • Ayurveda and how to apply it
  • Working with injuries and teaching to the individual
  • Learn to read bodies and give individualized hands-on adjustments
  • Living out your dharma and finding your niche in the yoga world
  • Yoga philosophy refers to The Bhagavad Gita, Yoga Sutras, and Upanishads
  • Teaching skills and methodology

Immerse yourself with nature

Immerse yourself in yoga in a peaceful serene setting surrounded by nature. On your day off or on certain afternoons, you will visit the nearby lake, hike in the majestic mountains, or rest by the stunning infinity pool.

A short walk away, there is a beautiful waterfall that offers a cold plunge to help melt deep tension and stress away. There will also be a bodyworker on site, which includes deep tissue massage, shiatsu, acupuncture, and energy healing.

What to expect

This will be an amazing opportunity to connect to like-minded yogis, heal in nature, and deepen your awareness in your practice. You don’t have to be a teacher to take this training, it will plant a seed, and teachers who are already teaching will gain inspiration and confidence.

The 100 hours will be included in The School of Yoga’s curriculum for students working towards their 300-Hour Program and 200-Hour Program. This will also count towards continuing education for Yoga Alliance. You can also choose to take the course to learn more about the practice and the transformational benefits that the practice of yoga can offer.

The Soami retreat center is located in the mountains above Lake Millstatt, Kärnten, Austria, and offers a peaceful and tranquil vibe to facilitate the healing powers of nature. The shala is a stellar practice space with props wall space and beautiful views of the mountains.

All meals will be vegan and organic and catered to the individual's needs, by Hildegard an experienced vegan chef who specializes in healthy nutrition and is well known for her 100% organic-vegan, balanced, highest quality food, using fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

The venue is located a 10-minute drive above Millstatt Lake. Address: Obermillstatt 196, 9872 Obermillstatt.

You can reach this beautiful place from Salzburg or Klagenfurt airport and take a taxi to the retreat venue. Joan Hyman Yoga can connect you with other participants in a group taxi, for a sustainable and less expensive journey. The prices will vary (from 50 EUR to 120 EUR per person/per way) depending on the number of people who book.

Arrival by train

You can also reach the venue by train (train station: Spittal-Millstätter See Bahnhof). If you are arriving by train, Joan Hyman Yoga will be happy to pick you up from the station (15-20 EUR per person/per way).

Let them know in your registration (or later by email, until 2 weeks before the retreat) if they can organize a pick-up for you or if you need help with the transfer.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 14% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 30 days before arrival.
