Back to Nature Yoga Retreats are retreats that take place in remote places that have been carefully selected for their natural beauty, tranquil surroundings, and environmental awareness. You will be staying at the beautiful boutique resort, Hodi Hodi Zanzibar, a beach-side sanctuary for small groups who wish to unwind and relax. You will be sharing a bright, airy room with an en-suite. There are two terraces for sunbathing and relaxing, both with incredible views of the ocean. The ocean is footsteps away and from the terrace, restaurant or indeed your room, you can see the most amazing sun and moon rises over the ocean.
Tall palms, powder white sands, and azure waters of the Indian ocean are the backdrop of your Back to Nature Retreat on the island archipelago of Zanzibar. A luxury six-night, seven-day retreat in a tropical paradise. The practice of yoga is an exploration of the body and mind. Regular practice brings strength and awareness to the body and improves physical and mental well being. Practicing yoga, you learn to reconnect with yourself, creating harmony, health, and balance.
Consisting of sunrise and sunset yoga sessions in an exclusive, relaxed, and intimate beach setting with sea views, your retreat includes twice daily yoga outdoor yoga sessions led by Jo Fox. The yoga sessions take place on a sun deck overlooking the ocean and in between sessions you'll have plenty of time for yourself to enjoy long walks barefoot along the deserted palm fringed beach, relax with a book soaking up the sun and the scenery or you may chose to opt in for an activity or excursion such as snorkeling or a tour of one of the islands' spice farms.
Jo Fox is an internationally accredited yoga teacher who has recently relocated to London after almost a decade in Zanzibar, Tanzania, East Africa, where she ran a well-known yoga business holding group classes, kids classes, and private classes. She also ran a number of safari and beach yoga retreats in some really spectacular places in and around the island, as well as on Tanzania's mainland. Jo first sat on a yoga mat about 20 years ago and since then, it has been in and out of her life, but in the last decade, most definitely in.
This retreat will take place in Zanzibar, Tanzania. Zanzibar is an East African island archipelago, just off the coast of Tanzania's mainland. Explorers such as Livingstone and Stanley began their journeys to the interior of Africa from Zanzibar, and the Sultans of Oman made the island their capital.
Known as the original global village, for a millennia it has attracted a colorful diversity of seafaring - and now airfaring - people who come to discover, to trade, to escape, and to seek fortunes, love and enlightenment - and who mingle and make their home here.
Fresh, locally sourced foods will be served throughout the retreat. Seasonal tropical fruits will be used and Zanzibar spices will infuse the cuisine where relevant. Starting the day with a full breakfast, you will then enjoy a mid morning smoothie or freshly picked coconut from a nearby tree. Lunch will be a delicious, nutritious salad and at the end of the day you will enjoy a three-course dinner. Herbal teas and fresh drinking water will be available to you the whole day.
Opt in excursions will be available for you should you chose. Snorkeling or a spice tour around one of the local spice farms for which Zanzibar is well known. There will also be the opportunity to visit Stone Town and explore the labyrinth of streets and alleyways, viewing some of the Zanzibar doors, and picking up souvenirs.
There are no regimented routines to Back to Nature Yoga Retreats. They simply want you to enjoy your retreat, take as much time for yourself as you need, or chose to share activities with the group. So whether you're opting in for an excursion of snorkeling or a spice farm tour or simply lounging with a book or taking a barefoot stroll up the deserted stretch of beach, the choice is yours. The group comes together for yoga and communal eating.
During this retreat, you will enjoy a complimentary aroma-therapeutic full body massage on the beach.
Please book your flight to arrive at Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR). Turkish Airways, Oman Air, and Ethiopian offer service to the airport. From the airport, you can take a small flight across to the island in just a few minutes with one of a number of providers such as Coastal Aviation, Tropical Air, or Zanair. Transfer from and to Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) is included. Jo Fox Yoga Retreats will pick you up from the airport.
