Yoga

Each day you’ll experience guided yoga practices with Jessie Dwiggins (RYT-500 and licensed “Am I Hungry?” mindful eating facilitator) to energize and restore your body, mind, heart, and spirit.

Class themes are based on the body’s subtle energy system and how it enhances mindful eating concepts so they become more instinctive. You will also enjoy one yoga practice on the rocks.

“Am I Hungry?” mindful eating workshops

Throughout the retreat you’ll participate in interactive mindful eating workshops with “Am I Hungry?” founder: Michelle May, M.D., RYT-200. These eye-opening and life-changing topics are based on the mindful eating cycle and will give you a whole new way to think about eating and living.

Hike the Red Rocks

Sedona is known for its gorgeous red rock formations, incredible hiking, and vortexes. Jessie Dwiggins: Yoga & Wellness has selected 3 beautiful afternoon hikes (weather permitting) to challenge you and take your breath away. However, these hikes are encouraged but optional.

Place note that all activities are at your own risk. You will be required to sign a fitness waiver to participate. Please decide whether these activities are appropriate; see your personal physician for medical clearance if necessary.

Workshop materials

Please bring your copies of “Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat for Athletes” (available in June 2016) and “Am I Hungry? Mindful Eating and Yoga Companion Workbook and Awareness Journal” (available in January 2017). Jessie Dwiggins: Yoga & Wellness will have copies onsite for purchase but if you want to read in advance, you may order them.

    Jessie Dwiggins has taught Forrest yoga since 2007. She is graduated from both the Foundational and Advanced Teacher Training programs with Ana Forrest. She is a 200-hour Yoga Alliance registered teacher and also a certified yoga tune up teacher. She has undergraduate degrees in nutrition and exercise physiology and a graduate degree in nutrition.

This retreat will take place in Poco Diablo Resort, Sedona, Arizona. The resort is located approximately two hours from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), Arizona's main international airport servicing Sedona. Flagstaff Pulliam Airport (FLG) is approximately a 40-minute drive to Poco Diablo Resort.

During this retreat, you will have these following meals:

  • Full buffet breakfast from Monday to Thursday
  • Buffet lunch on the Canopy Patio overlooking the golf course: Lunch includes guided mindful eating experiences to practice the new skills you’ve learned that day.
  • “Dine - around" dinner: Each evening, join a few of your new friends for dinner to make connections and practice mindful eating in a real world setting. Jessie Dwiggins: Yoga & Wellness will make reservations at several great restaurants nearby so all you have to do is signup (no host).

Driving directions from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport (PHX)

  • Exit airport towards 24th street / Downtown Phoenix and take Interstate 10 West 5 miles.
  • Merge onto Interstate 17 North via exit 143A towards Flagstaff; travel 98 miles.
  • Take AZ - 179 N Exit, exit 298, towards Sedona.
  • Turn left onto AZ - 179 N. Continue approximately 13 miles; pass through the Village of Oak Creek.
  • Poco Diablo Resort is located on the left, one mile past Chapel Road.

Arrival by plane

If you’re flying to Arizona, most people fly into Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport (PHX). It’s about 120 miles to Sedona, so rent a car or arrange shuttle service to Sedona.

Depending on your city of origin, you may be able to fly into Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport (AZA) for a lower airfare; it is about 150 miles to Sedona. There are also small airports in Sedona and Flagstaff.
