Jessica Bellofatto

Jessica Bellofatto, founder and director of KamaDeva Yoga in East Hampton, New York, is best known for her easy laughter, radiant energy, and extensive knowledge of the body. As a mother of three, yogini, doula, home birth advocate, surfer, triathlete, avid stand up paddleboarder, SUP racer, and one of the pioneers of SUP yoga, Jessica has inspired thousands of students in their journey to better understand themselves and their world. She herself has been a dedicated student of Hatha yoga for the past twenty years.

Her interest in yoga was piqued at the age of 18, while she was majoring in Dance at New York University. She completed the intensive year-long teacher training program at the Jivamukti Yoga Center with beloved teachers Sharon Gannon and David Life in 1996 and has been teaching ever since. In 2011, Jessica was chosen to be one of Athleta’s sponsored athletes, and writes regularly for the Athleta Chi Blog. In 2012, she was chosen to be an ambassador for the Boga yoga paddleboard - a board designed specifically for yoga.

First and foremost a student, Jessica has studied extensively with many notable and amazing teachers, and has been most deeply influenced by her Jivamukti roots, along with the intensity of the Ashtanga yoga system as taught by Sri K. Patabhi Jois, and the beauty, clarity, and intelligence of the Iyengar system. A former dancer, Jessica teaches from a deep understanding of movement as art, movement as play, movement as therapy, and especially, movement as a spiritual practice. She is also interested in the stillness within and between the movement; the spaciousness of silence. Jessica’s dream for herself and her students is that we may come to remember the love, the beauty, and the miracle of which we truly are, and that we may access this truth through the body.

Roey Ficaro

Roey Ficaro (LCSW and CYT) has been a practitioner of yoga for over twenty years. She is a certified yoga teacher and she is registered with the Yoga Alliance and an Anusara-Inspired level teacher. Roey met her teacher, John Friend, 10 years ago who introduced her to Anusara yoga. There was an instant recognition that her life path was taking a turn and decided to dive into this brilliant system which incorporates universal principles of alignment and the Tantric based philosophy of intrinsic goodness.

Roey's open-hearted, nurturing, and playful style of teaching is enriched by her studies of yoga therapy, Thai yoga bodywork, meditation, hypnotherapy, and somatic experience. In addition, Roey works as a body / mind / spirit psychotherapist. She was instrumental in creating a wellness center at SUNY Purchase offering substance abuse prevention, yoga, meditation, and holistic counseling to the student body. Classes are well attended and entitled “Yoga for a Natural High”.

Roey’s highest intention is to invite others to tap into a deeper place of the body’s inner wisdom and learn to move from within, with more freedom, physical comfort, and fullness. As your body opens and aligns, your heart opens as well to your true nature of unlimited joy. Roey holds so much gratitude in her heart for her teachers, John Friend, Todd Norian, Amy Ippoliti, Susan Rubin, Paul Muller-Ortega, Nevine Michaan, and other gifted teachers too numerous to mention.

"I have known Jessica Bellofatto since she became certified from Jivamukti many years ago. She has always been a gifted teacher and an inspiring spirit. She was always the epitome of a yogini, which is why I chose her to represent my Nuala yoga inspired clothing line for our first catalogue. She is a beautiful soul inside and out. I continue to learn from her every time I am in her presence and I am grateful for the opportunity always."

"In a sky full of yoga stars, Jessica’s shines most brightly. She is a natural teacher of yoga in all its aspects and her classes are rare, perfectly formed gems. Afterwards, I always feel satisfied and I am always hungry for more."

  • Review by Shira Barzilay

"I had been going on a yearly yoga retreat with Jessica (and Lois the first year) for a few years. Each time, I emerged with a rising feeling of power, a clarity in my heart, and an unmistakable sense that I wished I didn’t have to wait until next year to experience this again. When an email arrived in August of 2012, announcing a teacher training in East Hampton with Jessica and Lois, my first reaction was, “I don’t want to be a teacher, but 10 weekends of instruction and hands-on practice, now that may be even better than a one week retreat!” I knew I wanted to invest in the deepening of my practice, because as anyone who commits to yoga can say—it is the answer. I cannot compare my time spent on my mat to anything else, and now with the knowledge I have gained—bringing it into my daily life—driving the kids around, washing the dishes, and dealing with people—has made all my interactions and life work so much better. If you are considering this teacher training, go with your gut, trust yourself, invest in yourself. Doing so will take you to new heights. Trust Jess and Lois. Don’t underestimate yourself."

"Dear Jessica and Gina, I am so full of gratitude for this past weekend and for my relationship with each of you. This weekend was incredible. It was so powerful to be in the company of you both. You set an example of what it is possible. You are both such wonderful role models. The experience helped to rekindle my determination to work hard and nurture my practice. I have been on a journey to find my spiritual apex through yoga while creating a sustainable business. This goal often seems like an impossible dream. Watching you both gave me renewed hope and I am very grateful. I think the example that you set in working together is one that the women that attended your conference will benefit greatly from. I can’t imagine what my adult life would have been like if I had spent the weekend with the likes of you both when I was in my 20s and 30s. You should be very proud of yourselves and hopefully you recognize the impact you are having on many many women. I love you both. Thank you for your generosity and inclusivity."
