Anya is an acronym for Applied Neo Yogic Awareness and is a system of integrating ancient practices in a methodical and comprehensive manner. This class focuses on consciously releasing holding patterns in the body while stimulating vital energy. The movements in class are a powerful combination of micro moves, Tantric healing techniques, and Thai massage stretches. Anya heal taps into Kundalini energy, self-healing, and movement as medicine.
Anti gravity yoga is practiced using a silk hammock to help with decompression of joints with the goal of finding strength and ease in your movement. As you explore levitating meditation, flying asanas, and Vinyasa variations, you will find yourself strengthening and stretching further with more grace and ease with the assistance of the Harrison anti gravity hammock.
Kundalini refers to the latent and untapped reservoir of energy that rests at the base of the spine. In Hindu mythology, it is often depicted as a serpent on the path of ascension towards the crown of the head.

Special pujas are performed at the Ashram on full moon, new moon, and other auspicious Balinese energy days called kajeng kliwon and kliwon days to worship, pay homage, and make offerings to the universal mother and father and all their attributes.
The full moon puja (purnima) ceremony is very important because Shakti, the universal mother energy, rises and moves with more potency on this day. It is a day where it is easier to receive energy and potentially raise the vibration of your Kundalini potential. Satsang is a Sanskrit word that highlights a community of truth seekers. Traditionally, a satsang is a group spiritual discussion between a guru and his students. In a modern adaptation of this beautiful lineage, you will treat this forum as a group to share experiences, open dialogue, and as a celebration of the successes instead of spiritual lecturing. Sometimes during satsang, mantras, chanting, and meditation is also practiced.

There is low risk of Malaria however it is strongly recommended that you have your rabies, tetanus, typhoid, and hepatitis A vaccinations updated.

Ashram means a hermitage, monastic community, or other place of spiritual retreat. Ashram Munivara is for the aspirant to materialize a harmonious and peaceful life within the self, nature, and the community. At the Ashram, the practices of Tantra, Yantra, and Mantra are taught as a way to connect to the supreme lord (Shiva). Doing Puja, spiritual dance, meditation, fasting, chanting, yoga, and so on are all forms of Tantra that help to enhance positive energy.
The spiritual practices, taught by the Guru of Ashram Munivara, Sri Jaya Shakti, are based on teachings of lord Shiva. These teachings have been passed down his spiritual lineage to him from guru to guru.
The place was built in the 9th century as a sanctuary to ward off evil spirits. The cave has a relief of various menacing creatures and demons carved right into the rock at the cave entrance. There are various depictions of Ganesh, or the elephant God at this site. Ganesh is one of the most revered deities in the Hindu pantheon and is known as the remover of obstacles, the patron of arts and sciences, and the deva of intellect and wisdom.
Kecak was originally a trance ritual accompanied by a male chorus. In the 1930’s, Walter Spies, a German painter and musician, became deeply interested in the ritual while living in Bali.
He adapted it as a drama, based on the Hindu Ramayana and including dance intended for performance before Western tourist audiences. Also known as the Ramayana monkey chant, the piece is performed by a circle of at least 150 performers wearing checked cloth around their waists, percussively chanting "cak" and moving their hands and arms. Kecak has roots in sanghyang, a trance-inducing exorcism dance.
The Ubud monkey forest is a nature reserve and Hindu temple complex in Bali. Its official name is “The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary”. The village's residents view the monkey forest as an important spiritual, economic, educational, and conservation center for the village.
It describes its mission as conservation of the area within its boundaries according to the Hindu principle of “Tri Hata Karana” (three ways to reach spiritual and physical well-being), which seeks to make people live harmoniously during their lives.
The "three ways" to this goal under the Tri Hata Karana doctrine are harmonious relationships between humans and humans, between humans and the natural environment, and between humans and the supreme God. Accordingly, the monkey forest has a philosophical goal of creating peace and harmony for visitors from all over the world.
It also seeks to conserve rare plants and animals for use in Hindu rituals and to provide a natural laboratory for educational institutions with a particular emphasis on research into the social interaction of the park's monkeys with one another and their interaction with the park's natural environment.
Pemuteranis is a small laid-back village which has become increasingly popular with visitors in recent years. There are a number of waterfront resorts and its proximity to Lovina and West Bali National Park together with the extreme natural beauty of the area, has fueled quite rapid growth in tourism infrastructure in the area. Pemuteran is home to the largest artificial Biorock reef project in the world and there is a real spirit of marine conservation effort in this area.
Tegallalang rice terraces in Ubud are famous for its beautiful scenes of rice paddies involving the subak (traditional Balinese cooperative irrigation system), which according to history, was passed down by a revered holy man named Rsi Markandeya in the 8th century. Tegallalang forms the three most splendid terraced landscapes in Ubud's shared region with the others being in the villages of Pejeng and Campuhan.
Tegallang alone, has an outlook that spreads down before you and away to the rice terraces on the slopes across the valley. The high roadside location is cool and breezy and it is a well-known spot for tourists to stop and take photos. Painters and nature lovers also enjoy visiting this spot and there are numerous art kiosks and cafes near the ledge offering their ware.
Pemuteran and Bali’s North coast offer such a dramatic contrast to the southern resorts. It is also home to an incredible and unique dive site; the underwater temple. Divers with their advanced certification can go to the bottom of the temple at 30 meters depth.
A second part of the garden has been added at 15 meters with several Buddha statues covered in newly formed corals. Pemuteran still has a lot to offer for non-divers. Outstanding snorkeling is just steps away from any of the resorts dotting the coastline of Pemuteran and boat trips to Menjangan are easily arranged.
Ubud was made famous by the book “Eat, Pray, Love”. It is a town far removed from the beach party scene in Kuta and is regarded as the cultural center of Bali. It is famous as an arts and crafts hub and much of the town and nearby villages seems to consist of artist’s workshops and galleries. There are some remarkable architectural and other sights to be found and a general feeling of well-being to be enjoyed thanks to the spirit, surroundings, and climate of the place.
This temple is a Balinese sea temple (pura segara) in Kuta South, Badung. The temple is regarded as one of the six sanctuaries of the world (sad kahyangan) and is dedicated to the all-in-one God Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa in his manifestation as Rudra (the Rigvedic deity of storms and the hunt). The temple was built at the edge of a 70 meter cliff over the sea in the 11th century.
Johnson is a yoga teacher, Pilates teacher, bodyworker, healer, and light worker. He has studied with yoga masters like Sri Dharma Mittra, David Life, Sharon Gannon, and Duncan Wong. He received his initial 200-hour Vinyasa yoga training from Joschi Yoga Institute in New York, a 500-hour training in Akhanda yoga, classical Kundalini, and Hatha Raja with Yogirishi Vishvaketu in India, and has completed over a 1000 hours of continuing education with his lifelong teacher and mentor, Courtney Bauer of the ANYA method (applied neo yogic awareness) in New York.
Laura is based in New York as an Anti gravity yoga teacher, Anya teacher, and part of the Anya teacher training faculty. She was always involved in organized physical activities through sports and dance. She realize now, as an adult, that she always has been drawn to movement as a way to focus and better direct her excessive energy.
During this retreat you will be served five breakfasts, four brunches, five lunches, and nine dinners along with daily tea, coffee, fresh fruit, and unlimited filtered drinking water. Jasananda works with private chefs to cater wholesome, organic, and nutritious vegetarian meals that are Balinese and globally inspired. There will be some excursion days where you will be left to explore cuisine on your own which is part of the adventure of being in a new country.
During this retreat, you will enjoy two Balinese massages.

"I just had a 2 hour session of Thai Yoga Massage yesterday with Johnson. His gentle soul provided a healing environment, and I felt safe in his hands. His touch was precise, and his manoeuvres were deliberate and purposeful. Johnson's integrated approach gives the individual customised therapy according to their needs. He also provided timely feedback on his observations after the massage session with regards to physical posture, psychological manifestations as well as energetic interpretations. "Being a typical guy that loves sport but hates stretching, i have got to the point where yoga/Pilates is now a necessity unless I want to end up with back problems later in life. I have often found myself going to the odd yoga class, trying to hold a static pose and feeling the "delightful" pain in parts of the body which apparently shouldn't be feeling it, and ultimately I don't really feel the benefits. One session with Johnson though, doing "dynamic stretching" and the feeling is completely different. It really focuses on the intended muscles (hamstrings in my case) and not only did he set everything up to facilitate a great one hour lesson, he also gave me really simple things I can do throughout the week when sat in the office or watching tv at home. This is great for me as, like most people, I don't often have a full hour that I can dedicate to stretching. Fully recommended and great guy!"
