Come and join Jane Craggs on this beautiful journey into the wilderness of Himalayas, a holy and sacred place where you will deepen your practice and also trek to some utterly breathtaking spiritual sites, meeting yogis, devotees, and local hill people on the way. It is more than just a yoga holiday or even a retreat, it is a life-changing experience.
The first night will be spent at Old Delhi where you will be staying one night in a clean hotel. At Himalaya, you will be accommodated in shared rooms which are built using traditional methods to ecologically high standards. All rooms have beautiful views of the surrounding countryside, and the house and cottages blend into the beautiful Kumaon environment.
Because this is a wild place, there is much evidence of wildlife. You will be sharing your habitat with leopards, bears, porcupines, and bandicoots. Eagles soar above you as you practice outdoors, and the sound of many mountain birds is your soundtrack for your practice.
You will spend one night in Delhi before taking the overnight train up into the mountains. From there, you travel by jeep to the sublime Dunagiri Retreat run by lovely Piyush Kumar who is a true visionary. You will practice every morning outside on the terrace, and eat breakfast al fresco.
You will take walks each day which become progressively longer as the stay goes on. You will visit amazingly powerful temples and spiritual sites, including the famous Babajis cave, and also get to meet local families and schoolchildren and learn about their way of life. There are still wandering yogis in the Himalayas and one of them sometimes comes to stay in a special hut at Dunagiri.
They are a great source of inspiration and have an inspiring aura around them. You may get to meet him and experience the energy too. You will also trek in enchanted forests and around the hills to glimpse the majestic Himalayas in the distance. As it will be springtime, everything will be beautiful and in bloom, and you will be able to try special rhododendron tea sample.
