Is is composed of six small houses, studios and one yurt and it sleeps up to 20 people. The group room is 70 square meters, the villa has a solar heated swimming pool, solar panels, water recycling system and composting, and Wi-Fi access. Casa Amatista has its own vegetable gardens, where a lot of the delicious meals come from. But also providing nice, green restful places to sit and enjoy.

Situated in a central location, Amatista is the perfect base for exploring the magical island of Lanzarote. The secluded country setting and Amatista´s excellent facilities make it a wonderful place for peaceful holidays as well as courses and groups.

James Jewell

James Jewell became initiated into yoga and the healing arts of reflexology massage in the late eighties, whilst suffering with a prolonged period of illness. Having qualified by 1992, he became a busy health practitioner with his own clinic. Later, he became an inner yoga teacher in 1999, under the guidance of Jenny Beeken.

The love of yoga and how it can transform people’s lives led him to train further within this school, so that he could help on their three-year teacher training programs around England, Wales, Ireland, and Scotland.

In 2004, he followed his heart and moved to Andalucia, Spain for seeking more of an outdoors climate, adventure, another language, culture and more mountains and sea in his life. He still resides here with his family, living nestled on a mountain side, just outside a beautiful, little, white Andalucian village, near Marbella.

Other strong influences to his yoga teaching have come originally from the Viniyoga, Scaravelli yoga teachers, Yin yoga, Vinyasa Flow yoga and the Feldenkrais traditions. More generally from many other spiritual texts and teachers from around the world, and of course not to forget the myriad of people and animals that grace his everyday life.

Mother nature herself continues to inspire him daily with her beauty and intricate simplicity and he feels strongly, that to be in touch with her in all her beauty and variety is a healing in its own right. She reminds everyone of the natural rhythm of life and thus has the power to reconnect you to your own true nature - expanding your vision out from the restricting limits you alone have set around your own mind and life. Thus all the retreats offered are held in places set within beautiful, natural surroundings.

The retreat centre, Villa Amatista, is an inspiring and tranquil haven, nestled in the un spoilt countryside and vineyards of La Geria Natural Park, Lanzarote. The island itself offers extraordinary beauty and spectacular contrasts. So much so, it became part of the world heritage of protected landscapes and was declared a Biosphere in 1993 by UNESCO.

Along the dramatic coastline of Lanzarote you will find beaches with white or black sand, coves, long open stretches and lagoons with clean turquoise water in which you can swim and snorkel all year round. The rolling countryside behind Casa Amatista in the island centre, with vineyards and hilly volcanoes awaits for you to walk up.

With just a 20 minute walk up the volcano hill behind Casa Amatista, you are rewarded with these panoramic views, where you can also see the sea from the other side. The expansive Famara Beach, loved by kite surfers, is just 15 - 20 min drive away.

The landscape often surprises the first-time visitor by its diversity and breathtaking beauty -mountains and rugged fields of recent lava (270 years ago), soft rolling hills covered with flowers in spring, and wide plains make up the 500 square mile island.

With 300 volcanoes, many areas of the island seem to be bizarre and otherworldly. The island is dotted with tiny, rural, white villages, such as the lovely Haria in the North with its square where they serve great coffee, smoothies, and tapas!

Geological delights such as this bright green lagoon alongside rolling Atlantic Ocean, with red and black sand in between and The Geyser in the Fire Mountain National Park are also located just 15 minutes from the center.

The small island of Graciosa, a stunningly beautiful tiny island is very close by and you could visit it by ferry, or take a catamaran tour around it. With beautiful beaches and surely one of the few places without asphalt in Europe!

"It was so lovely to see you again. We love our annual retreat time with you and the yoga in these wonderful settings. I hope we can come again next year. Were thinking about coming out to one of your other retreats as well as (or possibly instead of, if the dates are difficult for us) your UK retreat. We will definitely see you one way or another in 2016! Id love to introduce other members of the family to yoga with James, but I fear wed be taking up almost all the spaces if we did that! Our son is especially keen, and our daughter has just taken up yoga so is very enthusiastic."

    "Dear James, "

"I have just been struggling to wake up and prepare myself for my first day back to work. Lying in bed mulling over the wonderful week, I have been thinking of the lovely times we spent- all of the laughter ; the new experience of yoga that I found so all encompassing as a total mind, body and soul presence and being amongst a group of people that demonstrated warmth the likes of which I have not felt in a group before. It makes me feel so sad that it is over- I recall you saying that it takes a few days to let go- I expect that is what I am feeling but it really was very special. Thank you so much. I have already looked for a horse riding and yoga group - how lovely that one week will have such a permanent impact on my life. God bless you and your family and all good wishes for all that you do."

"The yoga retreat was fantastic and well-balanced. Words cannot describe the beauty and serenity of Molino Del Rey, the hospitality of Anthony and Lidiya, the delicious, abundant food and last but not least, James unpretentious, gentle, calm, flexible way of leading the yoga and meditation classes. It was great for all levels of students, from the novice to the expert. Last but not least, James kind soul shined throughout the week and he was extremely accommodating when it came to activities outside of the yoga class.I arrived a ball of stress and left feeling well-rested, contentment and clarity and also made many new friends. It was PERFECT. Like plastic surgery for the soul."

"Keith and I were (still) talking on the way home and really feel that it was one of if not the best holiday we've had - and we've had some holidays! The way you bring people together is amazing. It really felt as we'd known you and the group for years. We had a very long trip home - our plane went tech in Malaga so it took 12 hours to get home. Ordinarily that would have been stressful but we were so relaxed we really didn't care!Thank you again for a very special holiday. We will be back. Looking forward to seeing where you decide to go next year - although very happy to return to Molino Del Rey.Wishing you all the very best - until we see you again."

I am in Fuengirola enjoying the effects of the retreat, have been running early mornings almost every day followed by yoga on the terrace, a perfect way to follow up the fabulous experience in Molino. How to describe what I experienced there? Rejuvenating, invigorating, inspiring, strengthening, as well as contemplative, meditative and FUN in a loving, nurturing environment. I have so much respect for what you do and how you build up the week so every participant comes away feeling reborn. Thanks a million James, sorry if that sounds American but a plain thank you wont do it.
