Vladimir Jandov began practicing yoga at the age of 12 and has been a practitioner of Iyengar yoga for over 13 years. At the age of 18, Vladimir traveled to India and spent a year studying the ancient Vedic scriptures on yoga and philosophy of the Bhagavad Gita in an ashram, and traveled throughout much of India. He has studied in Pune twice and is a dedicated student of Manouso Manos and other senior Iyengar teachers. Since he started teaching in 2002, Vladimir guides his students with enthusiasm and sensitivity for each person.
The room was perfect or loved having our own bathroom. Marc's cooking was just perfect for me; he really did a great job with all my allergens :) Sometimes a bit too much salt, but we took care of that! Yoga classes only thing that seemed to bug me was not tuning in on the second class of the day; it was a real missing for me. Seems to dial my mind body and spirit in much faster and makes a difference in my frame of mind before starting yoga, only takes one to two mins and I notice the difference when I don't do the invocation. Day trips were fine, loved them and had a blast. Yes, I would go back to QM, but would love to see other parts of the world before heading back! Their staff was amazing, loved each and every one of them.
The room was very nice. I loved the balcony and the location. Closet space was great. Improve by having a dresser in room and the twin beds were small for me and not really comfortable. Bedding was nice and pillows were great; A nice variety. Food: I liked the food overall. I'm not a vegetarian but it was fine to eat veggie all week. The fish 'stew' was inedible for me, but I had nice fish meals in town.
Yoga was excellent. Vladimir is a great teacher. Morning sessions were great. I know I teased him but most of restorative classes were very challenging and for me took effort to stay in them. Yoga props they should invest in traditional USA yoga blankets (Mexican blankets) and they need many more of them. The white blankets were worn and mostly useless. Both blue and white blankets were hard to fold and difficult to make 'an edge'. Bolsters too small. I loved the space and I'm ambivalent about the floor pros and cons.
Excursions: I think maybe more organization around sites, but it worked out okay. People were changing their minds all the time. But hey, it's more about the yoga. I would go back to Quinta Mimosa. The staff was very nice, although I really didn't interact with them much.
On scale one to five, for food, yoga classes, room, service, general ambiance, and daily activity, I would give five. I would change the floor of the yoga space, but still, I would go back. Thank you!
The yoga sessions, the room, and the food were good. The stores were far away and two meals were not enough. I would likely not return to this place but would love to go to the new place with you for the next retreat.

Dear Vladimir, I just wanted to formally thank you and Lily for hosting such a spectacular Yoga Retreat this past week in stunning, spiritually grounded, Villa Ojai, located in one of Californias little treasures, the town of Ojai.Impeccable attention was paid to every single detail, ensuring we enjoyed the spacious Yoga Hall, pool, grounds, beautiful accommodations, and the succulent meals that your beautiful and talented Lily prepared for us. Each meal was a vegetarian feast, our Yoga practices were peaceful and serene, and one of the highlights of the weekend was our visit to Meditation Mountain and Lilys impressive and outstanding dance performance. We closed out our weekend retreat with a spiritual presentation by your friend and guest presenter, Gregory, who facilitated a thoughtful and inspiring, guided mediation. As a newbie to Iyengar Yoga, I was a tad concerned how I would physically hold up throughout the weekend, but with your watchful eye, and those of my fellow attendees, I did just fine. The Villa Ojai was beautifully designed to provide a quiet, relaxing, environment. As I drove off yesterday afternoon, choosing the exquisite, scenic, back roads vs. the Freeway, I was infinitely grateful that I had the opportunity to be part of such a wonderful, weekend Yoga Retreat with such a great group of fellow travelers.Vladimir, thank you, for your extraordinary patience, compassion, hospitality and willingness to share your joy and knowledge of Iyengar Yoga with me
