Join Elizabeth Smullens Brass for one week of yoga, beautiful nature, delicious healthy food, and sunny beaches. The week-long yoga retreat is designed to allow you enough time to deepen your practice, unwind, and enjoy the beautiful region and its culture. You will have 6-day yoga program which will begin on Saturday morning and end on Thursday evening. This yoga program is intended to develop and deepen your yoga practice.
You will be staying in a southern Portuguese estate, Quinta Mimosa, an established retreat center. Quinta Mimosa is made of three restored traditional farmhouses, each with a large shaded terrace, swimming pool, outdoor sitting area, and free Wi-Fi.
This retreat is located on a hillside between the historic town of Loul and the Algarve coast, surrounded by almond and orange trees and close to gorgeous beaches.
The beach, 10 minutes by car or 25 minutes by bicycle
The 6-day yoga program will begin on Saturday morning and end on Thursday evening, and it is designed to develop and deepen your yoga practice. The mornings (except Thursday - the studio is open for self-practice) will begin with a 2-hour asana class from 09:00 - 11:00 in the fully equipped yoga studio.
After the morning class, you will enjoy a rich and healthy brunch together and then set off on your day. You will have ample free time during the day to go to the beach, explore the surrounding nature and villages, or just relax by the pool. Iyengar Yoga Zentrum Berlin will offer many joined (and optional) activities such as hiking, horseback riding, and nature walks.
In the evenings (except Tuesday), 18:00 - 19:30, you will have a Restorative yoga and pranayama (yogic breathing techniques) class where you will also learn pranayama. One evening there is extra free time to allow for excursions or massage treatments. Massage therapists are available onsite, and the beach is only 10 minutes away by car or taxi or 25 minutes by bicycle. You will end 4 of the days with a joined dinner at Quinta Mimosa. The other evenings, you are free to explore the exquisite restaurants in the villages or beaches around.
Fly directly from Berlin to Faro and a shared taxi or shuttle can be arranged to pick you up at the airport upon request for an extra cost. Or, you can rent a car directly at the airport to come to the retreats location.
Another option is to fly to Lisbon and take a train or bus to Loul, or fly to Seville and take the bus to Loul. Loul is 10 minutes away and pick up there can be offered upon request.
Iyengar Yoga Zentrum Berlin can arrange a shared taxi or shuttle service from the airport or Loul to the retreat location upon request for an extra cost.
Yoga should be practiced on an empty stomach. Please wait 4 hours after a heavy meal or 2 hours after a light snack before engaging in practice. You may eat again 30 minutes after class. Avoid drinking water during class.
Quinta Mimosa has four room types that you can choose, they are: dorm with shared bathroom (maximum 3 or 4 beds), double room with shared bathroom, large double room with private bathroom, and single room with private bathroom.
During the yoga classes, comfortable clothing that allows for a range of movement - such as shorts, leggings, T-shirts - is ideal. Yoga is practiced barefoot.
Having a medical condition does not mean you cannot practice yoga - however, an appropriate level or class will need to be discussed in advance with your teacher. Pregnant women should avoid coming to class during the first trimester.

American-born Elizabeth began her Iyengar yoga study in New York thirty years ago, and has been teaching yoga for nearly twenty-five years. Her teaching style is dynamic, precise, and motivating, encouraging students to enjoy and benefit from the practice of yoga. Her classes are primarily offered in English, although she also teaches in German. Elizabeth has traveled to India several times, where she studied at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune. She continues to train regularly with Senior Iyengar Yoga teachers in Europe and the United States. In addition to teaching yoga, Elizabeth worked for fifteen years as a professional dancer and dance instructor, performance artist, and arts administrator.

In this retreat, you will have plenty of free time during the day to go to the beach, explore the surrounding nature and villages, or just relax by the pool. There are many of joined (and optional) activities on offer such as hiking, horseback riding, and nature walks. You can also enjoy the exquisite restaurant in the village.
