We are delighted to be teaching a week retreat for the 7th consecutive year at the incredible venue Yoga Rocks on the unspoiled South coast of Crete in Triopetra. The fact that this is our 7th year at this location speaks for itself of what we think of the place. We love it here! Previous years we have opted for Spring or Autumn weeks but 2018 we are going for a midsummer week. We are excited to give this a try! This all-inclusive international Iyengar yoga retreat includes a full program of daily asana and pranayama practice as well as your accommodation and all meals.

Accommodation

The retreat is non-smoking, alcohol free and vegetarian. There are two tavernas within easy walking distance if you have any extra needs. All Yoga Rocks rooms are spacious and en suite with stunning views of the Mediterranean from their balcony or terrace.

Iyengar Yoga Holidays Crete Yoga Retreat Program

Early morning yoga practice before the heat of the day kicks in. We plan to do the second class early evening as opposed to afternoon because of the temperature.

That gives ample daytime for yourselves to either enjoy the beach / pool / beach! For those who prefer respite from the Summer sun, the shaded outdoor deck in a hammock, a short trip to the mountain village of Spili, a boat trip going snorkeling, reading a book in one of the quiet areas of the retreat or a well-earned nap after an early rise for the yoga practice.

One of the things we are excited about are those warm summer nights. With the later sunset and much warmer evenings than Spring or Autumn weeks, we are excited to offer more evening outdoor activities like stargazing and moonlit walks, kirtan under the stars and pranayama on the outdoor deck.

We absolutely love this venue and we are excited to create a new experience offering our first Summer retreat there.

Instructors

Daniela Gfeller
Junior Intermediate II (Iyengar Yoga)
Daniela is a certified Iyengar yoga teacher at the Intermediate Junior 2-level and continues to study with many senior teachers in the Netherlands and abroad. She followed the teacher training in Amsterdam and has finished a three-year training in therapeutic applications of Iyengar yoga with Stephanie Quirk. Daniela teaches in English and her lessons are suitable for beginners as well as for more advanced yogis. Her focus is on the alignment of the body by doing classical yoga postures and breathing exercises to find the balance between body and mind.
Sarah-Jane Rawkins
Junior Intermediate II (Iyengar Yoga)
Sarah's first experience with yoga was during a trip to Thailand in 1997. The very first class completely inspired her and sparked a deep interest in the subject of yoga which still continues to grow. She spent many years following many different styles of yoga with different teachers internationally. She is a certified Iyengar yoga teacher at the Intermediate Junior 2-level and is currently following a three-year therapeutics course to be able to teach and apply the therapeutic attributes of Iyengar yoga to help and guide people with injuries, illness, or physical limitations.

Retreat location

The lovely Triopetra magical rock formation on the island of Crete in Greece is particularly beautiful during the end of May. The locals already consider June to be a summer month with daytime temperatures up to an inviting 28 degrees. A dip in the crystal clear sea is already enjoyable. At Triopetra, the day break washes over Cretan mountains and long sweeping beaches, while the sun sets over the sea. The retreat will be held at Yoga Rocks, situated at a truly stunning location on a small cliff overlooking long, pristine, undeveloped beaches only ten minutes walk away.

All food is included in the price, lunch and dinner buffets and a kitchen stocked with fresh fruits, nuts, home made breads and yoghurts, a large selection of local teas is available to you at any time of the day.

How to get there

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Heraklion airport (HER) or Chania airport (CHQ) in Crete.

Cancellation Policy

  • The deposit is fully refundable if the booking is cancelled up to 60 days before the arrival date.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 25 days before arrival.
