Iyengar Yoga Holidays is delighted to be teaching a retreat for the umpteenth time at the incredible venue Yoga Rocks on the unspoiled south coast of Crete in Triopetra. This marks their 13th year at this breath-taking location, and they simply can’t get enough of it! Nestled above the stunning Agios Pavlos Bay, this paradise offers direct beach access—perfect for a refreshing dip or a peaceful moment to immerse yourself in nature’s embrace.
All Yoga Rocks rooms are spacious and en suite with stunning views of the Mediterranean from their balcony or terrace. The rooms will be ready from around 2 p.m.
The price is based on sharing a room with one or two other guests. They can help find suitable matches to share with if you are coming alone. Single rooms are available but a limited number so a supplement is required. Please ask Iyengar Yoga Holidays for more details if you are interested.
If you will arrive on Crete before Saturday or plan to stay after the retreat finishes, they are more than happy to help arrange accommodation or give suggestions of where to stay and where to visit.
There are two tavernas within easy walking distance if you have any extra needs.
This all-inclusive international Iyengar yoga retreat includes a full program of daily asana and pranayama practice as well as your accommodation and all meals. Every morning there will be a 3 - 3.5 hours yoga/pranayama/meditation practice. The second class will be Restorative and 1.5 - 2 hours early evening right before dinner.
That gives ample daytime for yourselves to either enjoy the beach(es) or the shaded outdoor spots in a hammock, a short trip to the mountain village of Spili, a boat trip going snorkeling, reading a book in one of the quiet areas of the retreat or a well-earned nap after a long rich morning yoga practice.
Some evenings they will offer additional activities like a music evening in the cave, a yoga Nidra session for deep rest, or a chance to gather and talk about yoga philosophy and have the option to share or to ask questions.
Iyengar Yoga Holidays will offer a long morning class of 3 - 3.5 hours that combines both asanas as well as pranayama starting at 8 a.m. or 9 a.m. (depending on the preference of the group). One afternoon will be free (probably Wednesday) so that you can explore a nearby town or take a trip to the waterfall, or just have a lazy afternoon by the pool or on the beach. But all other afternoons there will be a Restorative class of 1.5 - 2 hours beginning around 5 p.m. Some evenings, Iyengar Yoga Holidays will offer meditation sessions, yoga philosophy talks, or a screening of a film or documentary depending on the group's needs.
Daniela is a certified Iyengar yoga teacher at the Intermediate Junior 2-level and continues to study with many senior teachers in the Netherlands and abroad. She followed the teacher training in Amsterdam and has finished a three-year training in therapeutic applications of Iyengar yoga with Stephanie Quirk. Daniela teaches in English and her lessons are suitable for beginners as well as for more advanced yogis. Her focus is on the alignment of the body by doing classical yoga postures and breathing exercises to find the balance between body and mind.
Sarah's first experience with yoga was during a trip to Thailand in 1997. The very first class completely inspired her and sparked a deep interest in the subject of yoga which still continues to grow. She spent many years following many different styles of yoga with different teachers internationally. She is a certified Iyengar yoga teacher at the Intermediate Junior 2-level and is currently following a three-year therapeutics course to be able to teach and apply the therapeutic attributes of Iyengar yoga to help and guide people with injuries, illness, or physical limitations.
Yoga Rocks has moved a sand dune away from Triopetra to Agios Pavlos Bay with stunning views over the bay and direct beach access.
Enjoy the peace of never-ending beaches with translucent velvety seas or more lively times as your mood takes you. Delve deep inside or simply kickback. Also, the lovely Triopetra magical rock formation on the island of Crete in Greece is particularly beautiful during the end of summer and a quick drive or walk away. A dip in the crystal clear sea is super enjoyable.
