Join Island Yoga on the tranquil island of Koh Yao Noi on this yoga, Qigong, and meditation retreat designed purely to help you to let go and relax on a deeper level. This retreat is for anyone seeking a peaceful environment to disconnect from the busy daily life and reconnect with their inner selves and learn ancient and new healing techniques. It's designed to guide you into relaxing states, so you can experience inner silence and well-being.
Island Yoga's base is Ulmer’s Nature Lodge in Tha Khao village, a quiet beachfront resort run by Ning and her ever-smiling crew of family and friends who put their heart and soul into making your stay special.
Island Yoga has four types of accommodations to choose from. For the cost-conscious traveler, there are dorm beds and private rooms in the budget house. The comfort bungalows are more spacious with a fan, hot shower, and mosquito net while the AC bungalows add a little more luxury to the retreat experience. When the Nature Lodge is full, guests can stay in one of the nearby lodges, which is a few minutes’ walk from the yoga shala. All the resorts used are of a similar standard to the Nature Lodge and all are situated either on the beach or a one-minute walk from the beach.
This bungalow is a fully furnished bungalow that includes air-conditioning, hot shower, and mosquito net.

During this retreat, there will be gentle to moderate yoga classes suitable for all levels as well as guided meditations. There will also be Qigong classes, which is an ancient Chinese health care system that integrates physical postures, breathing techniques, and focused intention.
The gentle, rhythmic movements of Qigong reduce stress, build stamina, increase vitality, and enhance the immune system. It has also been found to improve cardiovascular, respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic, and digestive functions.
Other than that, there will also be pranayama (yogic breathing exercises) and diaphragmatic breathing sessions. You will also have plenty of free time for reflection, to explore the island, or just lay back and read a good book.
This retreat will take place in Koh Yao Noi, which is located in the Phang Nga Bay between Phuket and Krabi. It remains one of the rare gems of Southeast Asia; an island still largely undiscovered by mainstream tourism with pristine beaches, friendly locals, and outstanding natural beauty. It really is the perfect retreat hideaway.
Plenty of leisure time between your yoga classes allows you to discover the islands’ customs and culture, adventures, and cuisine. You can cruise the spectacular Phang Nga Bay, explore the island by bicycle or scooter, take a Thai cookery class, or just relax in the hammock or get a massage. The island is completely safe, the locals are very friendly and polite. It’s remarkable to walk down the main street in the market and see every motor scooter with its key in the ignition!
The local village is called Tha Khao and is a 10-minute walk along the beach from the Nature Lodge.Tha Khao has a “sell everything” store, food stalls, and an internet cafe. The main road around the island is a 20-kilometer loop. There’s one real town halfway around the loop called “the market” which has about 1,000 inhabitants. The market has a 7-Eleven, a post office, police station, bank, internet cafes, local and tourist restaurants, clothes shopping, a pharmacy, and an ATM.
You will be provided with daily buffet breakfast. Island Yoga offers muesli with fresh tropical fruits such as papaya, watermelon, pineapple but this depends on the availability of each day. They also provide their homemade yoghurt, milk, and honey including jams and butter for bread plus few types of egg such as fried egg or omelette alternately. If you like, you can try Thai-style food such as fried rice with egg and vegetable, fried noodles with egg and vegetable, and few types of Thai desserts.
