"Restorative self care "
This was my first yoga retreat and I absolutely loved it! Antonella classes are always so calming and relaxing. I really enjoyed the morning Tai Chi and Qi Gong classes too. It’s an amazing feeling waking up in the morning to watch the sunrise while doing tai Chi, gaining energy from the natural environment. The classes really helped to you to reconnect with your body and yourself, which was very therapeutic. Also, the staff are really friendly and helpful too! And the breakfast and family dinner, is so delicious!

"A great yoga experience for two yoga beginners"
My husband and I visited Island yoga as the first part of our journey to Thailand. We felt very welcome and ended up staying two more days than planned. The yoga classes were great, and in between classes, we explored the island. Overall we had the best stay and felt very relaxed after 6 days, both in the body and in the mind.

"Yoga and relaxation at koh yai noi"
I had a lovely private en suite bungalow with air con & wifi. It felt like a luxury while travelling. The pool in the resort was a great factor to chill out by and socialise with other visitors.
I loved the yoga classes. The yoga shala was spacious and wooden with huge windows. The classes were well taught and I felt so relaxed after them. The sunrise tai chi on the beach was another nice surprise. We got up super early at 5:45am but got to drink tea or coffee and eat fruit and bread on the beach as the sun was rising. Then stared tai chi with Antonella at 6:15am. The whole setting was stunning. We walked though shallow water onto a sandy island for our practice with a backdrop of karsts and longtail boats in the distance. It felt amazing.
I'm always a fan of Thai food. There were meat and veggie options on site. There are also local restaurants in walking distance if you want to go out. The breakfast buffet was so big it was more like brunch! reception staff were really friendly and great with helping me to organise transport from the island to Phuket. I would definately go back.
from Thailand, April 2019
It was all good. They even refunded me money when i left early due to a medical situation, without me having to ask.
from United States, February 2019
"Perfect to disconnect and recharge"
Loved the sunrise taiqi on the beach, the yoga classes, the breakfast, the friendly staff and the peaceful island itself.
from Spain, December 2018
"Fabulous and worth the money"
This place is a little pricier than some of the yoga resorts on “book yoga” (as others have mentioned) but it’s worth it. The yoga shalas are so peaceful and picturesque, the teachers are insightful and advanced, the bungalow accommodations are awesome and the location and facilities are great as well. I had trouble with WiFi only so I recommend if you travel for work (like I do) buy an AIS sim to use as a hotspot when you arrive in Thailand. You can get em at the airport or any 7-eleven. (6-700baht)
The staff, front desk and kitchen staff are sooooo nice and I will DEFINITELY be back!
Koh yao noi is a great island.
Do go to the rice paddy restaurant for sunset! It’s amazing!
Definitely do their boat trip out to Hong island for 1000 bht and sign up for the extra classes. It all just adds to your stay. Luna pizza just up the way is awesome, they have good salads, desserts, etc. (not just pizza) and a full bar.
The little beach that you access by the dirt road across from it is great at high tide.
DO IT! You won’t regret it!
I would chose a private bungalow as I think it’s more what you want when at this kind of retreat and I just spent 6 months in hostels.
So, I kinda know what I’m talking about there. The bunk beds are cool too but it’s just a fan in the room so it’s a bit hot and pricy for that. The worth comes in the luxury.
Otherwise you can just take the classes as a walk in.
Anyway, thank you to everyone at island yoga! You’re lovely!! ❤️

"A little bit of paradise "
The yoga teaching was excellent, my classes with Dimitri were some of the best ones I’ve ever had.
from Australia, July 2018
Instructors were extremely knowledgeable. Very helpful in improving my practice. The location is amazing. Sin (spelling?) was the most helpful and generous host throughout. Loved it and should have stayed longer.
from Great Britain, July 2018
"Blissful and transformative"
Instructors Roni and Dmitri were so careful, patient and inspiring to me and my 16-year-old son (we were relative beginners). The Sound Journey that Dmitri and Roni conducted one evening was a rare and exceptionally moving experience which I was grateful to have had. The manager Sin was extremely friendly and accommodating--he organised our outings and made time to get to know us--another very good human being. Koh Yao Noi itself feels secluded and rural--rice paddies, water buffalo and shrimp fisherman. It is the ideal place to decompression and to find yourself.
from Hong Kong, May 2018
The Classes are great with Antonella and Veerle. The hut i stayed are quite nice, really worth the money. A very peaceful and quiet place to rest my mind and soul.

"Great retreat "
The classes were suited to me as a beginner-intermediate. Breakfast was good. Nice quiet location and good ambience. Early morning tai chi on the beach. Thought both Antonella and Veerle great teachers but especially liked Veerle"'s style and focus on yoga rather than fitness.

Island Yoga is truly a gem. Most accommodations on the island are right off the main road, but Island Yoga is tucked away off the beaten path, with its private, serene beach and lovely space. Ning and David were very knowledgeable and helpful in their own, individual and wonderful ways. Ning taught me how to ride a scooter and I had a blast exploring the island on my own. The ladies running the kitchen and laundry were all very sweet and attentive. Magda was a wonderful welcome hostess and meditation guide. All yoga teachers I came across were very knowledgeable, creative, and generous in their teaching. I especially enjoyed Aliya and Antonela's classes for their deeply meditative qualities and generous guidance. Morgan was also fantastic. Her class focused heavily on hip openers, which was incredibly challenging and restorative for my personal practice. I am deeply grateful for David's Tai Chi/Qi Gong teachings and all the conversations we shared on the island. Spending a week at Island Yoga was simply magical for me.
from Thailand, April 2017
The yoga instructors were amazing and worked to teach according to all levels.
Each class taught me something new, either about yoga or myself, making the retreat a meaningful experience.
The morning Thai Chi was a new and fabulous experience. David was a great instructor!
The morning breakfast was amazing! So much choice and variety. You could also ask for something specific if you couldn't find something to your taste.

"Excellent Stay at Island Yoga "
Had a wonderful and relaxing six days at Island Yoga on Koh Yao Noi. The female dorm room was clean and comfortable and as were the main facilities of the resort. Each yoga teacher was professional and brought something new to each class. I was never bored with any class because they were always different. Lovely morning tai chi on the beach at sunrise and the breakfast buffet has everything you need to energize after morning yoga. I highly recommend this retreat for anyone looking to expand their yoga knowledge and make some new friends along the way!
from Canada, July 2018
"Relaxing, Rejuvenating Retreat on a Sleepy Island "
I really enjoyed the yoga classes with Veerle. She blends asana, meditation, sounds, and music flawlessly to craft yoga classes that the participants want to attend. Taking into consideration the time of day, the weather, and the energy of her students, she offered excellent classes.
I loved the oasis-feel of the retreat centre and the laid-back atmosphere of the island itself. I loved the fact that it was the low season when I attended (July) and though it did rain a bit during a few of the days, this weather added to my increased introspection. I spent my free time exploring the sleepy island, reading, journaling, and seeking out beaches.
What an amazing way to spend 5 nights! It was just the medicine I needed! I could have easily spent a month there.
from United States, April 2018
"Beautiful and spiritual "
The island is incredible, it's a really beautiful place and a great place to really unwind, there is a chance to do nothing and reflect on the powerful spiritual and meditation quality to the yoga classes but the team also put on activities if you want to join in. The staff are always available and eager to help you with anything you need, I hope to come back again soon!

"Ein friedliches Plätzchen mit sehr gutem yoga Unterricht"
Der yogaunterricht war sehr gut, so intensiv und sehr abwechslungsreich,
Island Yoga must be one of the best yoga resorts in Thailand. Located on a quiet, nature-close island, highly competent yoga instructors, beautiful wooden salas, and very well-run organization. My bungalow by the pool was more than I could expect. I felt like reborn
My 12 day yoga retreat at Island Yoga was a truly amazing experience, perhaps one of the best things I have done in my life. I met some great people, made some wonderful connections and came away with many beautiful memories. Everything just ‘flows’ perfectly, from the dawn rise and Tai Chi, the early morning chats on the beach, breakfast, the excellent yoga classes and the various workshops. I was so lucky to arrive on a Thursday and have the Meditation practice guided by Anna that evening. It just opened up my heart to all the wonderful things that happened later on. The ‘Love your body’ workshop was also very good and I just wish I could have done the 'hip opener' and ‘plank' workshops. The jungle trekking was also great and the massages amazing. All staff were warm and friendly and I can’t wait to come again. Thank you to everyone
My Island Yoga experience was in many ways much more that I expected. Absolutely amazing location, incredible nature, simple but clean accommodation, fantastic people, very friendly and helping staff. Everything wery well organised. Great place to rest and experience community of free, joyful, forever young spirits. Fantastic Tai Chi classes shared generously for free by Chinese Master Mr Ping were really special. Great trips, unforgettable kayaking. As for yoga, beginners will benefit more here than advanced yogis. Also food could be more Sattvic. Overall experience: very good!
from United States,
The only suggestion I have for Island Yoga Retreat is to invite more experienced yoga teachers or add a third Advanced Level: some classes just didn't flow, some classes were just complete repeat of the previous (good) class. The rest was good.
Management response from Island Yoga:
Dear Nataliya, thank you very much for your feedback. At Island Yoga, we strive to provide a variety of yoga styles and make them accessible to yogis of all levels. We are sorry to hear that you did not find our intermidiate class sufficiently advanced, as we always aim to offer means of taking the practice deeper to experienced yogis and yoginis. We are looking forward to welcoming you again at Island Yoga someday, and perhaps then you can compare the experiences favorably. Namaste and best wishes on your yoga journey, Island Yoga Team.
Island Yoga offers a beautiful, restful retreat experience. I would give it a 9/10. I am a Canadian yoga teacher and I recently spent 5 days there staying in the mixed dorms.
The retreat centre is serious about yoga - the yoga salas (one for beginner, one for intermediate) are beautiful and airy, they bring in well-trained teachers and provide high quality Manduka mats.Classes are more vigorous in the morning and restful in the afternoon, with optional workshops during the day available at an extra cost. There is optional tai-chi available on the beach at sunrise. Between the morning and afternoon yoga classes, guests can explore the island, visit local restaurants and markets, have massages, rent bikes or scooters and enjoy swimming or excursions organized by the retreat centre. I did the kayaking excursion and really enjoyed the day - particularly how quiet and beautiful it was floating through the mangroves. Food is very good and healthy options are available. The mixed dorm was comfortable - bunk beds, with personal space for storing bags (no locks) and 2 bathrooms with showers. No A/C but numerous fans. Mosquitos can be bad at sunrise and sunset.
from Hong Kong,
The teachers are all professional and passionate. Suggest to arrange a more intensive schedule other than yoga such as chanting and meditation.
I had a wonderful, enriching time at Island Yoga. It was exactly what I was looking for: an approach to yoga that goes beyond postures and includes mindset through meditation, breathing, chanting and words. I loved the "words of wisdom" from David that connected and reminded us of our own potential, our attitude, mindset, habits! All yoga classes and teachers were fantastic, I’m motivated to keep going and include yoga and meditation into my daily home practice. The big new yoga room with glass all around creates such an open, transparent and uplifting atmosphere and provides enough space even for big classes. I loved the additional early morning tai chi "gift" - a morning meditation with sunrise at the beach and an epic view of the islands and rocks.
The bungalows are clean, modern, basic but with everything you need for a relaxing time, reconnecting with yourself and meeting lots of likeminded people from all around the world! The food is great: clean, whole-food, always fresh and very tasty. A breakfast buffet to die for and a very big menu for snacks, lunch and dinner! I will definitely make the retreat at Island Yoga part of my yearly plan!
I attended the Island Yoga Retreat on Koh Yao Noi for a 4 day / 3night retreat. What an amazing place to practice and further my yoga practice, to meet new and interesting people, and to regroup and re-energize. Next time I will make it a point to stay longer so I can also appreciate all the other things the island has to offer. Thank you to all the amazing staff and the beautiful souls I met.
Island yoga on Koh Yao Noi is a beautiful place to do yoga and chill out, relax, recharge and be in touch with yourself again. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and always there to answer questions if needed. It really is a perfect place to escape for a while and do as the cats do around the premises: Roll onto your back and do nothing but exist. There are lovely restaurants around the island to have amazing food at. It's fun to rent a scooter from island yoga to go around and explore. I can really recommend this place and give it a ten out of ten!
My whole experience at Island Yoga was really positive. The yoga was intensive with reminders for everyone to work at their own level and check in with their bodies. There were two sessions per day: Vinyasa in the morning and Yin in the afternoon with free time to explore the island or relax by the pool. The teachers vary but during my stay, Evi and Roni were intuitive, dedicated practitioners and I felt supported and sufficiently challenged to develop my practice. Island Yoga, on the beautiful friendly island of Koh Yao Noi, was a delight. I felt very cared for by the staff, especially Fon who calmly sorted everything out when I messed up my booking and Ning who organized taxis to the pier and also from Bang Rong pier to Phuket airport. The food was fantastic also.Any trip is always about people you meet and I was very fortunate to meet like minded, open, friendly people who made my stay even better; some good bonding, laughter and friendships made.I felt it an honour and a privilege to be there and will definitely return to continue my yoga journey. Thank you!
I have enjoyed and extended several time my yoga retreat at Island Yoga! I appreciate especially their flexible drop in mode..and the island was just as quiet and far from any touristic spots as I wished!
We were lucky to be a small friendly group, as it was low season, but new people were still coming, making a perfect balance between calm and conviviality, sunny days and rainy times...Their very quiet beach subject to tides is better to walk and meditate than to swim! The small female dorm was nice.
The classes were challenging and precise..in a awesome natural environment. An intense experience both physical and emotional for those who are not used to an intense practice!
We've just regret that their was not more exchange between staff and students out from the class. The good idea of weekly collective diner could be a way to meet and get to know better staff who teach, who cook and who organise...
