SUP Yoga Teacher Training USA

Take your yoga teaching offshore and become a certified SUP yoga instructor in the heart of Honolulu! You’ll learn not only the foundations for teaching SUP yoga but also the heart and the passion of the practice. You will participate in daily SUP yoga, meditation, on-land classes, and practices led by Topaz and fellow students. You will also experience a guided trek by a local certified SUP instructor that will lead you on a 5+ mile tour to get you more comfortable on the boards.

You will stay in a private room in a local rental within walking distance of training at Kuhio Beach Park in Waikiki. There are a shared kitchen, bathroom, and living space. The kitchen will be pre-stocked with cooking essentials, bottled water, snacks, coffee/tea, and breakfast pastries/fruits.

The course/hours count as Continuing Education hours for Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®) only.

Other certifications

SUP Trained Specialist Certificate with The World Paddle Association

You’ll receive a SUP Trained Specialist certificate with the World Paddle Association to help start you out on your SUP journey.

CPR/First Aid Certification with The Red Cross Association

You’ll also receive a certification in CPR/First Aid with the Red Cross Association.

What you will learn

Stand Up Paddle Board

You will learn Stand Up Paddle Board basics, equipment knowledge, paddle strokes, etiquette, and the World Paddle Association curriculum. You will have daily SUP time, teaching practice, and participate in a guided trek.

SUP Yoga

You will learn paddle board anatomy, how to modify poses on the board, safe transitioning, class sequencing, structure, timeline, and specialty postures. You will also participate in daily classes, have time to practice postures, and have opportunities to practice teaching.

Children's and Family SUP Yoga

This training also incorporates SUP yoga for children and family. You will learn how to structure classes for ages 4-12 years old, lead family classes, and how to keep everyone safe, interactive, and entertained out on the water.

Environmental Education

You will also learn water safety, how to analyze and track weather, safe conditions for SUP and SUP Yoga, rescue basics, and receive CPR/First Aid training. You will also learn about conservation and environmental care practices.

Philosophy

The philosophy in this training is really unique by offering Hawaiian cultural storytelling about the ocean, sea, and waters of life. You will also learn about the elements, nature, and practices to connect with the water on an emotional and spiritual level.

Business

You will learn first-hand knowledge about how to open your own floating yoga studio. They will cover the logistics, investment, branding, social media, regulations, and other practicalities to help you start your own SUP yoga business.

The program

Daily classes

You will participate in daily SUP Yoga, meditation, on-land classes and practices lead by me and fellow students.

Guided SUP Trek

You will experience a guided trek by a local certified SUP instructor that will lead you on a 5+ mile tour to get you more comfortable on the boards.

Professional Mini Photoshoot

Each student will receive a 30-minute mini photoshoot with my professional photographer. You’ll return home with a library of edited photos for you to use in your marketing, social media, website design, and all other promotional purposes.

Training Handbook and Materials

You’ll receive a 100 page printed handbook, a journal and pen, and a posture index with over 200+ poses for adults, kids, and acrobatic postures.

Gear

Each student will also receive an Island Paddle Bliss hat and tank top.

Graduation Luau and Hawaiian Blessing

At the end of the training, you will celebrate together with a private sunset luau and a Hawaiian water blessing by a native Kahu to honor your new partnership with the water.

Prerequisite to apply

  • Must have completed a 200-hour RYT certification at an accredited Yoga Alliance school
  • Only Non-Hawaii residents are welcome to apply at this time
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older
  • Must know how to swim
  • Be comfortable spending long periods of time outdoors and in the open ocean

Daily training located in Waikiki on Oahu

All lectures and classes are held in the heart of Waikiki-the most famous beach on O’ahu. You’ll be just steps from the most popular bars, restaurants, and markets.

Optional excursions add ons around the island

You may choose to add-on optional excursions from local recommendations of Island Paddle Bliss that will take you on a sunset cruise, private island tour, surf lesson, and more.

Hawaiian culture and Philosophy

Throughout this experience you will have many opportunities to experience the culture of the island and even learn philosophical stories and teachings of Hawaiian practices from special guests.

Celebratory luau and Hawaiian blessing

You will celebrate all together with a private sunset luau on the beach and a Hawaiian blessing to honor your new partnership with the water.

Benefits of this training

Intimate and small group

Island Paddle Bliss only accepts up to 5 students for this training. This will keep the group small and intimate, allowing for more one-on-one connection, while also allowing the group to really get to know each other and feel comfortable throughout the training.

Special and unique curriculum

The content in this training is really unique and incorporates techniques, sequencing, and approaches to teach all ages. Island Paddle Bliss also invites special guests who will share spiritual practices and Hawaiian cultural aspects to help you connect to your practice on a deeper level.

Plenty of free time to relax and enjoy the island

Each day runs 6 hours long with an hour lunch break, which leaves plenty of time to enjoy the island and culture. You will also be within walking distance of many beaches, grocery stores, markets, restaurants, activities, tours, and so much more!

Retreat location

Located in the heart of Waikiki on Oahu, this training will take place on one of the most famous beaches in Hawaii. You are just steps away from popular restaurants, bars, beaches, markets, and more! It's a lively and busy area of the island that's extremely accessible by walking or cycling.

Food

The only meal provided in this training is at the final luau celebration that will include vegetarian and vegan Hawaiian-based meals on the beach at sunset. All other food and meals are not included. Drinking water will be available each day in the morning of training.
