    Iceland break

CONS Cons: The weather was cloudier and wetter than expected - but Andreas did his best to work around it. The hikes were a little too fast to really enjoy every aspect of the view, geology, flora and fauna.

PROS Pros: The group leaders were very friendly and welcoming. The yoga room was enviable and scenery spectacular.

Organizer response: Thank you very much for reviewing us. We just spent another yoga & hike week with temperatures over 20 Celsius (68 F) and endless sunshine. So the weather is whatever it is - but the great news is that North Iceland is the driest part of Iceland. So we are ideally located - additionally we are undertaking off the beaten track excursions in enchanting land and are having lunch in hidden or not pubblicly accessible "restaurants". In each group we are aiming at balancing yin & yang, activity & relaxation and of course this is a fine line. So whilst some may perceive the speed of the hike slow, others may perceive it as fast - and yeah it is of course true - we should just endlessly marvel at the beauty of nature. Feel welcome again and again and inspired by the spirit of the North!

    10 out of 10

"It was an extraordinary experience that exceeded all my expectations and was so very satisfying on both a physical and emotional level. Discovering Iceland was magnificent and meeting the people at my retreat was a profound and healing experience. The organizers, Andreas and Ulrica, are very professional and go beyond the call of duty to make sure everyone is taken care of in all ways. I cannot say enough good things about Inspiration Iceland and the experience they offer."

"It is no wonder Inspiration Iceland gets such consistently high ratings and reviews as they provide a remarkable experience for their guests. My expectations for this yoga retreat and tour were high, but they exceeded all of them and left me wishing I could have stayed longer."

"Andreas and Ulrica are a dynamic duo whose combination of gifts are rare and exceptional. Andreas can converse fluently in a multitude of languages, and as a tour guide, he is animated and profoundly knowledgeable - he seems to know every nook and cranny of northern Iceland, including hidden gems of locations that most tourists would not have an opportunity to explore or encounter. We were consistently dazzled by the wondrous sites and landscapes to which we were introduced or hiked through."

"Ulrica, who leads the yoga retreat component, is an authentically joyous spirit with a wide breadth of knowledge about yoga and meditation. Her innate teaching skills result in a yoga practice that is meaningful, healing, gentle or challenging as needed, and suitable for all levels, whether an absolute beginner or a seasoned advanced practitioner. Although we experienced profound moments, there was also a lot of laughing involved."

"Both the studio/spa and the apartments where retreaters are lodged were of a superior quality. The yoga studio looks out onto a mountain and its gardens are full of beauty and whimsy. The spa's facilities have been constructed with great attention to detail and comfort and with creating an atmosphere of tranquility and luxury. And the Pearl of the North apartments were superb accommodations. Convenient to central Akureyri, bright and spacious, well-laid out, and with all the conveniences one could ever need, they were a great home-away-from-home for even the most finicky of travelers."

"Andreas also made sure that we were all well taken care of as far as meals. He has sourced out the best restaurants in the area whose mandate is to provide fresh, healthy and very delicious menus. I was a bit concerned before arriving due to a number of food sensitivities, but Andreas went out of his way to check in with me to make sure I had options. I did and more - thank goodness for all the hiking and physical activity!"

"Overall, I cannot say enough about what a well-planned and complete adventure this was. But aside from all the physical aspects of the retreat, it was wonderful to spend time with international guests who helped expand my world view. It's going to be very difficult to surpass this retreat experience."

"The retreat centre where the yoga was run each day was quite special. Everything was top notch, bright, a beautiful view of the mountains. And the special relaxation room was such a quiet retreat. And, not to forget the most amazing sauna I have been in, plus the spectacular outdoor hot tub with a view of the countryside. It really doesn't get much better than this."

"The retreat center was serene and lovely. It captured a view of the mountains that was captivating and calming. Not only was the yoga space this way, but the entire center was beautiful and relaxing. Every tour we did, both our individual and group needs were met, and it was such a blast. The meals were delicious and nourishing, the tour guides were knowledgeable and fun, the scenery of the town was breathtaking, the yoga was freeing, fluid and healing, the northern lights excursions were magical, the dog scootering and horse riding was magnificent! "The Inspiration Iceland facilities and tours were absolutely top of the line! Andres and Ulrica's attention to our comfort and enjoyment went above and beyond all expectations. They have cultivated a spirit of warmth and togetherness that felt less like visiting a retreat center, and more like spending a week with close friends. "

  • Review by Manuela from Switzerland

"This trip to Iceland left me with a stunned mind, a full and rich heart and a deep connection to the beauty and the sources of mother nature. Andreas and Ulrica, both have -within this short time- showed us, of how to put the passions and love, we carry in our hearts, with a lot of courage into forms or manifestations in daily life, so that others get the chance to share it with us. A true inspiration!"

"The whole trip was extremely rich in giving us the chances to experience Iceland in many different & creative ways and it seemed to flow very smoothly & organically at any time. Even we were aware, that a big group Retreat like we had, needed to be planed within the smallest details, it kept the character of being authentic and natural. A wonderful gift you made to me and I'm sure, the Universe will take care, that the flow continues."

"Thanks from the bottom of my heart to both of you for committing to this (life?!) in such a profound away! A true blessing on the northern sky."
