Enjoy 2 weeks of relaxing and rejuvenating before Christmas in this beautiful South Indian resort. You will be pampered with healing well water, 2 yoga classes a day with qualified and experienced instructors, individually structured Ayurvedic treatments by an Indian doctor of ancient Ayurvedic lineage, delicious traditional food, and optional excursions. You can also have the opportunity to shop, chill on the beach, or try a surf lesson. In this retreat, your cleansing program will work from the inside out and the outside in. Look forward to seeing you there!
IHA Ayurveda Resort is a peaceful guest house with its own gardens and a treatment room on site. It is a family run business and all food is cooked freshly in the adjoining kitchen. Rooms are twin bedded and en-suite. Each room has a private balcony with tables and chairs. You will do your yoga practice on the rooftop with sunset meditation on the beach some days.
This retreat is particularly suitable for older people (although you will need to be comfortable with steps). It is open to all and particularly suitable for mature people with a reasonable level of fitness who desire to kick start or maintain a healthy lifestyle. No prior experience of yoga is necessary as you will be guided and nurtured by Inner Fire's team.
You will have morning and afternoon yoga and meditation practices: an eclectic mix of East and West styles including flow (Vinyasa), classical holding postures (Sivananda), and Dru mindful movement. You will work with:
Deyna is British-born. She has teaching qualifications in Hatha yoga, Dru yoga, and yoga therapy. She is experienced in Sivananda, Iyengar, and Bihar yoga. She has been teaching and training for more than 15 years in the UK and India and has written 2 books. Deyna is also a qualified social worker.
Arjuna is an Indian-born qualified Sivananda teacher. He is studying at ashrams in Kerala and the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu. He specializes in chanting and will also organize Karma yoga and local excursions.
This retreat will take place at IHA Ayurveda Resort in Varkala, Kerala, South India. Varkala town is a local Indian hub of traditional shops and cafes. This resort is set 5 minutes from the Varkala cliff which is more tourist-oriented.
Food will be mainly vegetarian based on a Sattvic yoga diet although Inner Fire may offer fish some nights if it is your dietary preference. Food in Southern India is almost wheat and dairy free by tradition so it is easy for you to accommodate these intolerances.
In this retreat, you will have daily Ayurvedic treatments including massage and herbal medicine for the first week. In the second week, the treatments are added as needed. These treatments are included in the price.
Please arrive at Trivandrum International Airport (TRV). You can take a taxi to go to IHA Ayurveda Resort for 15 GBP. You can share with other people arriving on the same flight.
