Yoga Beginners Course in Greece

This retreat is especially designed for beginners and newcomers. You have just started or want to start with yoga? you have been doing yoga for a while, but you feel like you want to understand the yoga system better in order to practice properly, healthy and injury free? Then this is the right retreat for you.

You will also get a deep insight into the principles of poses and correct alignment, you will get an overview of yoga styles, the roots of yoga and the yoga philosophy behind it. You will get an introduction to meditation and the breathing exercises called pranayama.

The retreat is a mixture of mostly practice, but also small parts of theory and self-reflection. In the 8 days you will not only learn to practice yoga safely and understand the why behind it, but you will also have plenty of time to enjoy a late summer vacation with other like-minded people.

During the retreat, you will be accommodated in Andriana‘s. The apartments are nestled within beautiful grounds, just a stone's throw away from the beach. Each apartment is spacious, with a modern thermostatic air conditioning unit, rain shower, little kitchen, and a balcony with some selected rooms having sea views.

Your balcony will overlook the immaculately landscaped garden, with tropical plants and trees. There are hammocks, loungers, and a selection of books for you to read while you relax. If you fancy eating outside with friends, feel free to use the brick barbeque and outdoor dining area.

We will provide you with everything you need in order to relax and immerse yourself in daily yoga classes, meditation, breathwork, mantra singing, and more, surrounded by stunning sunsets, sea views, chilling sessions in the "kipo" and, of course, plenty of gorgeous, healthy, freshly cooked, local vegetarian food. Athina's grandma is involved in this, it will be amazing!

Every morning you have 30 minutes guided Meditation class, just in time with the sunrise. Even if you are an absolute beginner in Meditation, this is a class where you can follow the instructions to find that beautiful peace inside.

Morning flow yoga class

This is an active yoga class inspired by Vinyasa flow elements and Anusara principles. This class mobilizes the joints, strengthens the muscles, and improves your flexibility with the stretches. This class is usually between 75 and 90 minutes, can be sweaty and dynamic and includes a long sweet savasana relaxation in the end.

Relaxing evening yoga class

The evening class is there for you to relax and surrender. ineayoga teaches either a soft and slow Hatha class or a popular Yin yoga class. You will relax your body and mind and recharge the energy. This class is 60 minutes and focuses on soft but deep slow stretches linked to calm the mind and emotional healing.

What a wonderful way to reach a meditative state without worrying about your mind getting busy! Mantras help quieten the mind and stimulate the endocrine system in such a relaxed and joyful manner. And of course, there are plenty more reasons to sing mantras but this is not the time to bore you with making a list.

Have you tried it? Mantra singing is so much fun! Are you one of these people that lyrics aren't your thing? Well, if so then mantras are going to be your favorite kind of singing!!! You get a few commonly Sanskrit phrases, with spiritual content and you have the opportunity to repeat these Indian jewels over and over, often at different tempos until everybody has got the words and the tune (but not that it actually matters). It is a chance to enjoy just being with everyone else around you, a wonderful way to connect with the rest of the group, a playful and gentle way to help you focus your attention. Let's play together.

They do this because they love yoga and want to share these magical teachings. This course will take place in Saint George South, at Argyrades in Corfu, Greece.

Saint George is located in the stunning southwest coast of Corfu, surrounded by nature, golden sand dunes, the lake of Korission, clear blue and safe sea, and endless sunsets; while Corfu is a beautiful island with an international airport. Once you land, you have the choice to do it all stress-free, as Athina Tamaresi can pick you up and give you everything you need in order to feel completely spoiled for your training.

Healthy food for healthy souls with vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. Yummy and healthy is what a yogi needs. So ineayoga serves delicious veggie/vegan food. Breakfast with typical Greek specialties, as well as fresh fruits, nutrient seeds, local honey, and porridge bowls. For dinner, you enjoy traditional Greek food as well as international salads full of goodness to serve what our bodies need. Most dishes are full of ingredients from local organic farming.

Hiking trip

Corfu is known for its green nature. Many people travel to the island every year just for hiking. The yoga school is located directly on one of these many hiking trails. So if you like, you can start directly from here and explore the island.

They make two different tours with the guests:

The first, somewhat shorter tour leads through an olive forest to the historic village center of Aygirades. This tour lasts about 1.5 hours.

The longer tour starts at the beach, we walk through a nature reserve over dunes and past a salt water lake. Finally we end up together at the beautiful beach Chalikounas. This tour takes about 5 hours.

Fun boat trip to private beaches

In free time, you decide what you want to do. If you want to join our group activity offers, it could be a boat excursion, for example.

Together, you will make a day trip to Paleokatritsa in the north-west of the island. On the way we will stop at different beaches, some of which can only be reached by boat. Be sure to bring swimming gear. Extra fees apply.

Sound healing with Tibetan singing bowls

Sound treatments are here to help you release tension, work through blockages and connect with yourself in a deeper level. During these sound treatments the practitioner utilises the healing aspects of ancient Tibetan techniques and brings them to your body through vibrating singing bowls in the form of waves.

The waves, as created by Tibetan and Crystal singing bowls, are played with clear intensions and directly from the heart. Sound is such a powerful media, as tradition has shown and modern research has come to support, especially when practitioner and patient/client are working towards the same goal or releasing, connecting, clearing, having left concepts and words outside the treatment room and allowing the vibrations to flow. Body massage

They want you to feel as good as possible here. Therefore, you can do something good for your body on all levels. Jenny has years of experience with bodies and is their massage therapist. She offers all kinds of massage, from full body to special areas for tension release.

Sound bath with crystal singing bowls

A sound bath is a very unique experience, especially the first time. As a studied music teacher and pianist, Athina is devote to sound and music. With 7 crystal bowls tuned to the frequencies of the 7 chakras, Athina plays a sound concert of a very special kind, flooding the whole body with vibrations. Many testify of wonderful experiences during these sessions. It is said that the vibrations release energetic (emotional) blockages and have a healing effect. It is each time a marvelous experience, but come and witness it for yourself.
