During this course, you will stay either in a private or a double room. All rooms have attached toilet/bath, hot/cold water and personal cupboard. Two sets each of bed linen and bath towels will be provided for the duration of 4-weeks.

Please note that the check-in will be at 4 p.m., one day prior to the course commencement, and the check-out at 10 a.m., the following day of the course completion.


During this training, you will study Hatha yoga philosophy, asana practice, and techniques. You will gain knowledge of the methodology of teaching that includes the principles of demonstration, instruction, and observation. Also, you will practice prayers and chantings, learn pranayama techniques, the study of physical human body anatomy, and learn the basics from the study of yoga scriptures, ethics for yoga teachers, and the life of a yogi.

IndeaYoga Beginner Series and Preparatory series are designed by Bharath Shetty and the teaching is imparted by Senior Teachers trained by Bharath himself.

You will be assessed in both written and teaching evaluation exams at the end of the course. The assessment exams are structured to meet the standards of the Yoga Alliance.


Asana practice and technique

During this course, you will learn how to practice and teach in detail the IndeaYoga Beginner Series, IndeaYoga preparatory series. The beginner series provides the knowledge and skill to work with students who are injured or extremely stiff and lack flexibility and stability, as well as aging populations and beginners. The preparatory and foundation series provide a wide range of Asanas.

The teaching of all three series is thoroughly imparted in the following structure by Bharath Shetty and students are expected to know this detail for each asana by the end of the course and for the exam.

Teaching practice

Applying the above eight-step teaching methodology, you will teach several sessions by teaching to the other students in the course in a classroom setting. You will also be required to sit-in and observe Bharath and other IndeaYoga teachers who present the Mysore style classes. The aim of this course is that you gain knowledge of the methodology of teaching that includes the principles of demonstration, instructions, and observation.

Prayers and chanting

You will learn the prescribed opening and closing prayers, their meanings, and also familiarize yourself with chanting few other mantras and Kirtans.


A selection of pranayama techniques will be taught and practiced during the course.


Anatomy includes the study of physical human body anatomy, the skeleton, organs and muscles, cardiovascular system, and nutrition.

Philosophy and ethics

You will have an overview of the meaning of the word yoga, chakras, and Patanjali yoga sutras. Also, you will learn the Ashtanga eight-fold yoga with a more detailed satsang on selected sutras from chapters one; Samādhi Pāda, and two; Sādhana Pāda of the sutras.


During this course, you will also practice self-study to read recommended books, participate in discussions, and practice by yourself all topics of this teacher training.

The course engages the students for 6-8 hours per day and requires complete dedication. The intensity of the course significantly alters how one perceives yoga. For all participants in this course, a minimum of six months of Hatha yoga practice is required. If this is not the case, you may enroll yourself for the Hatha yoga Mysore style classes before you start your course in teacher training. You also have the option of practicing under IndeaYoga certified teachers close to your location before enrolling for the course.

Retreat location

This teacher training will take place at IndeaYoga Dhaama in Mysore, India. IndeaYoga is located in the vicinity of the beautiful Mysore University campus and is surrounded by fresh and lush green vegetation and also by a beautiful view of the Chamundi Hills along with the sunrise and sunset from the lake. The IndeaYoga Dhaama is near Kukkarahalli lake, which is a kilometer from the Dhaama where the yogis go for walks during the weekends.


During this teacher training, you will be served three daily organic and vegetarian meals along with coffee and tea available throughout the day. The food served will be mainly organic and nutritional based on Sattvic diet and keeping in mind the requirements of the everyday practices. Coffee and Tea will also be available throughout the day. Filtered hot/cold drinking water is provided. The welcome meal and the gala dinner is something that you would not want to miss!
