During this retreat, you will be staying at Can Amonita. The house is nestled amongst a fragrant pine forest in the San Lorenzo campo, in the stunning north of the island. It's a unique sanctuary, which reflects this beautiful and peaceful side of the island. East meets west with Balinese style luxury with bright, spacious rooms. You will be blessed with a beautiful outdoor practice space to warm the bones with some winter sun.
Set in gardens and terraced woodland, Can Amonita is a beautiful brand new Blakstad designed villa with huge 18-meter pool in the hills, south of San Lorenzo. With six double bedrooms and five bathrooms, the house caters for 12 people in comfort. The style of Can Amonita is traditional Ibithencan inspired by Moorish influences, with arches framing the beautiful views all around.
All the furniture, indoor and outdoor, is custom-made quality hardwood, water hyacinth rattan, and synthetic rattan (outside) from Bali. There are many individual features such as stonewall lamps, stone wall reliefs, woodcarvings, two fountains, and enclosed courtyard.
The outer entrance courtyard leads to the villa where all bedrooms (five with en-suite bathrooms) and the living room are fully air conditioned, fully equipped with state of the art kitchens. Can Amonita exudes elegance and serenity. There is internet access to all rooms and laptop safes to all bedrooms. Beaches, nightlife, and shops are all within a short distance by road.
This retreat is suitable for all levels, whether you are new to yoga and looking to develop your practice, or are a dedicated yogi wanting to challenge yourself. During this retreat, you will enjoy yoga every day. On the fitness mornings, it will take the form of an elongated stretch and meditation class, and then pure yoga flow for three days. In the evenings, you will have a Yin style practice or a take part in beautiful hike through the beautiful Ibiza countryside.
This retreat has been developed from Susie's own personal journey and her ever increasing awareness of the importance of a strong body in order to develop and deepen the yoga practice. Yoga is very much about a philosophy for life and not just about the physical asana practices which move the body and the prana.
Yoga is also about all elements, including the eight limbs of yoga, how you choose to lead a more conscious existence, and how being present and mindful can enhance our sense of well being in all elements of our life.
A day at the retreat begins with either an energizing, fun, and functional fitness session with a hand-picked personal trainer, a guided hike in nature in one of the favorite secret island spots, or a strong, dynamic, and authentic yoga class, which focuses on breath, alignment, and cultivating a conscious awareness of your body and your energy system.
The yang practice is anchored by daily meditation and breath-work. This balance of the yin and the yang is important to calm the nervous system, help you connect back to yourself, and find a sense of peace and equilibrium in every day life.
On the day of arrival, you will be served tea and healthy bites and have the time to settle in or to relax by the pool. Afterwards, you will receive a rejuvenating massage and one-on-one yoga and wellness consultation. A grounding yoga session will be held to help you land, and then you will have a welcome dinner and meeting everyone in the group. There will also be an introduction to Ibiza and the retreat.
This is not a boot camp, but an intelligent and conscious way to exercise. The experienced trainer will take you through a range of techniques and practices, to help you find what feels right for you and your body, because everybody has a different story. The practices will cultivate your strength, confidence, and body awareness for life.
Daily deep flow yoga allows you to let go of tension and stress in the body. The flow is strong and can be challenging, yet the process of moving the body in conjunction with the breath (Vinyasa) and with total conscious awareness of the movement is incredibly nurturing for the body and can be adapted to all levels of experience.
The focus is to connect you back to your body and empowering you to establish a daily yoga practice, which can be incorporated both on and off the mat when you get home.
Susie has a sensitive inner-compass; she feels you and your fears, inspiring you to work consciously with your body and nervous system. She helps you recognize how constant states of reactivity are exhausting. She is inspired by many teachers and her yoga is an eclectic mix of Vinyasa, Hatha, Scaravelli, Iyengar, and Ashtanga.

Can Amonita is situated close to Ibiza’s famous restaurant mile. Within five minutes drive, there is a huge choice of restaurants and bars with food. Traditional Ibithencan fare offering local dishes of lamb, chicken, salads, and homemade alioli can be found for example at Juanitas, Can Currune, and Es Pins, or if you want to push the boat out, there are La Paloma and Bambuddha Grove, all in easy reach.
Santa Gertrudis is about ten minutes drive to the west and has a lovely village center with the church overlooking the town square. There are restaurants specializing in Italian pizza, Middle Eastern, fusion, and of course traditional Spanish menus. Destino 2 is recommended for Middle Eastern specialties. If you would like to try horse riding after filling your stomach, there is a wonderful horse riding place just north of the village.
Santa Eulalia, about ten minutes drive to the east, is the nearest town and has a full compliment of restaurants and bars. Kathmandu restaurant is recommended for Nepali and Indian cuisine.
The beaches and coves of the north and northeast have wonderful beach cafes and restaurants. Freshly caught fish, paella, fish stew, and salads are not to be missed. Recommended restaurants are the Restaurant Salvado, that does the traditional fishy Sunday lunch overlooking the bay of Pou des Lleo, or the restaurant Pou D’es Lleo for delicious paella, cooked to order.
Further, a field Cafeteria C’an Cosmi, overlooking the church at Santa Ines, is well known for its tortilla. For a truly sublime lunch, go to Ses Boques, hidden away on a tiny breach at Es Cubells, the fish is straight from the fisherman to the pan.
San Lorenzo is the nearest village, about a 20 minute walk or about seven minutes by car. There is a lovely church, a cafe called La Paloma (the Dove) selling delicious Middle Eastern freshly cooked food, which is a very popular meeting place, and a typical Ibicenco bar and restaurant that serves desayunos (breakfasts) and menu del dias (menu of the day).
Next to the village is the Moorish settlement of Balafia, with the original three towers and tiny whitewashed donkey tracks meandering through it, which is well worth a visit as well. There is no village shop, although La Paloma does sell bread, humous, and pizza to take away. The nearest shop is a five-minutes drive away, so it is necessary to have a car.
You can try scuba diving at the Dive Centre or visit Can Marca Caves at San Miguel. There is also the statue of Tanit, the Goddess of Love, which is Ibiza's patron saint, at the village of St. Vicente. You may also want to try spa treatments in Azaro, which is the best and nearest from the retreat venue.
Northeast Ibiza is well endowed with hidden rocky coves ideal for snorkeling, sandy beaches with all the facilities, or chilled beaches with friendly cafes. Being the least developed and most off the beaten track, this part of Ibiza offers sunrise, swimming on empty beaches, and a relaxed friendly cosmopolitan atmosphere amid simple natural beauty.
Experience the lovely Aguas Blancas in the early morning, when the sun lights up the sea and it feels like swimming through shimmering silk. For snorkeling, try swimming round S'illot de Rencli. Water sports are catered for on most beaches immediately north of Sant Eularia, such as Playa Martina and Cala Nova. At sunset on Sunday, there is normally a drumming and dancing event at Benirras Beach, where you will be welcome to join in or just enjoy the show.
Included in the total cost of this retreat is a full body massage upon arrival.
