During this retreat, you will have a guided coastal walk with the group.
This retreat will take place in Can Amonita, Ibiza, Spain. Can Amonita is well situated and you could get anywhere in Ibiza. It is located towards the North East of the island. Surrounded by forest on the edge of the hill, it has views overlooking San Lorenzo valley with a glimpse of sea glistening at Santa Eularia, which is the nearest town.
Benirras Beach, famous for the mysterious rock and drumming on Sundays, is a 10-minute drive away as are Aigues Blancas, Cala Pada, and Cala Nova, some of the few most beautiful beaches in Ibiza.
The house is just off the San Joan - Eivissa Town Road, known as the 'restaurant mile', with a selection of all types of restaurants: Es Pins for traditional family food, Juanitas for a bougainvillea-covered outdoor restaurant, and Can Currune, a meeting place for coffee or for a fresh delicious meal. There are several local shops within five to 10 minutes by car to the seaside town of Santa Eularia. The riding stables, south of Santa Gertrudis, offer one of the best ways to see the countryside.
During this retreat, you will be served daily delicious, nutritious, organic, and seasonal purifying cuisine. Meals included are daily brunch and five dinners. You will have dinner outside on the last evening for an extra cost, which starts from 30 EUR.
Can Amonita is situated close to Ibiza’s famous restaurant mile. Within a five-minute drive, there are various choices of restaurants and bars. Traditional Ibizan fares offering local dishes of lamb, chicken, salads, and homemade alioli can be found, for example, at Juanitas, Can Currune, and Es Pins, or if you want to push the boat out, there are La Paloma and Bambuddha Grove, all within easy reach.
Santa Gertrudis is about 10 minutes drive to the west and has a lovely village center with the church overlooking the town square. There are restaurants specializing in Italian pizza, Middle Eastern, fusion, and of course traditional Spanish menus. Destino 2 is recommended for Middle Eastern specialties. If you would like to try horse riding after filling your stomach, there is a wonderful horse riding place just north of the village.
Santa Eulalia, about a 10-minute drive to the east, is the nearest town and has a full complement of restaurants and bars. Kathmandu restaurant is recommended for Nepalese and Indian cuisine.
The beaches and coves of the north and northeast have wonderful beach cafes and restaurants. Freshly caught fish, paella, fish stew, and salads are not to be missed. Recommended restaurants are the Restaurant Salvado, that does the traditional fishy Sunday lunch overlooking the bay of Pou des Lleo, or the restaurant Pou D’es Lleo for delicious paella, cooked to order.
Further, a field cafeteria, C’an Cosmi, overlooking the church at Santa Ines, is well known for its tortilla. For a truly sublime lunch, go to Ses Boques, hidden away on a tiny breach at Es Cubells, the fish is straight from the fisherman to the pan.
San Lorenzo is the nearest village, about a 20-minute walk or about seven minutes by car. There is a lovely church, a cafe called La Paloma (the Dove) selling delicious freshly cooked Middle Eastern food, which is a very popular meeting place, and a typical Ibicenco bar and restaurant that serves desayunos (breakfasts) and menu del dias (menu of the day).
Next to the village is the Moorish settlement of Balafia, with the original three towers and tiny whitewashed donkey tracks meandering through it, which is well worth a visit as well. There is no village shop, although La Paloma does sell bread, hummus, and pizza to take away. The nearest shop is a five-minute drive away, so it is necessary to have a car.
You can try scuba diving at the Dive Center or visit Can Marca Caves at San Miguel. There is also the statue of Tanit, the goddess of love, which is Ibiza's patron saint, at the village of St. Vicente. You may also want to try spa treatments in Azaro, which is the best and nearest from the retreat venue.
Northeast Ibiza is well endowed with hidden rocky coves ideal for snorkeling, sandy beaches with all the facilities, or chilled beaches with friendly cafes. Being the least developed and most off the beaten track, this part of Ibiza offers sunrise, swimming on empty beaches, and a relaxed friendly cosmopolitan atmosphere amid simple natural beauty.
Experience the lovely Aguas Blancas in the early morning, when the sun lights up the sea and it feels like swimming through shimmering silk. For snorkeling, try swimming round S'illot de Rencli. Water sports are catered for on most beaches immediately north of Sant Eularia, such as Playa Martina and Cala Nova. At sunset on Sunday, there is normally a drumming and dancing event at Benirras Beach, where you will be welcome to join in or just enjoy the show.
Included in the total cost of this retreat is a full body massage treatment.
Please book your flight to arrive at Ibiza Airport (IBZ).
