House of Zen has a 50-square meter terrace with a panoramic view over the park 'Trilho das Vinhas', a beautiful art mural and the ocean that brings you the sea breeze. It is a perfect setting to start the day with your daily yoga practice! The outdoor terrace, the indoor yoga shala, and comfortable common areas will provide you with tranquility and space to relax, read a book, or meditate.
Sound sleep is guaranteed in the 2-bedroom apartment, the comfortable single, and twin bedrooms. Brand new, minimalist design furniture garnishes each of the House of Zen's bedrooms. The apartment and rooms are named after different plants: Peace Lily, Bamboo, and Aloe Vera.
Cleanliness is this house's top priority. Accommodation services include cleaning service, daily breakfast, shower and hand towels, hairdryer, shower outing carpet, and drinking water.
This retreat can start at any day of the week, just let House of Zen know your preferred arrival date so that your schedule can be adjusted accordingly as there are no yoga classes on Sundays.
House of Zen will be welcoming you from 14:00 onwards, allowing you free time to rest, and explore the peaceful settings and the gorgeous Cascais area.
From Monday to Saturday you will rise and shine by awakening your body and awareness of your breathing through morning asanas. Daily breakfast awaits you with fresh fruit, yogurt, and tea. Take the rest of the day to relax and enjoy yourself until your evening yoga practice.
Within a 10 minute walk from the House of Zen, you are in the town center where you will find many restaurants, supermarkets, shops, and the Cascais Market. Or you can go and explore the area with its many nearby beaches, Guincho and the stunning Sintra-Cascais Natural Park.
There is always the choice of staying at the house, enjoy the stunning panoramic view on the terrace overlooking a green park. Read a book, meditate, or freely unwind your mind. In the evenings Monday to Friday enjoy your second yoga class of the day.
Time to quiet your body and to clear your mind, allowing your awareness to sharpen and space to open for insight and understanding to develop. This is a good time to become aware of changes in your body, mind, and heart. On free afternoons, this opportunity is ideal to discover Cascais and its surroundings, meet people, find new places, eat local food, or visit a fair, a museum, or a beautiful park.
You will start your last day with breakfast. Check-out time is between 10:00 and 11:00.
By subscribing to this retreat, participants confirm their physical fitness and that there are no medical objections against their partaking in the sports of their choice while staying at House of Zen.

Catia is a "lisboeta", meaning born in Lisbon. She enjoys teaching yoga with a focus on breathing techniques and mindfulness. She was certified in India, having traveled to Thailand and Australia where she took wellness training courses, including massage therapies. Catia believes cultivating yoga is a profound body, mind and soul expression, while the Universe and the alignments of the planets and stars influence each one of us. She teaches Hatha, Yoga Nidra, and Meditation and also leads meditative walks.
Kimma simply loves teaching yoga. With lots of yoga teacher training courses from the US and Thailand, she is an experienced instructor teaching Hatha, gentle Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative and other styles. In her classes, you will be able to learn new insights on yoga philosophy and history and her own life experience. Originally from New Jersey, Kimma lived in Chiang Mai before moving to Portugal, attracted by the sunny weather and the beautiful sea in Estoril coastal area. She is also a certified Thai massage therapist, able to provide both relaxing and vigorous massage treatments.
Maryam Madantji is a registered general nurse and off time nurse. She is a yoga instructor and a food adviser. Maryam holds a second bachelors degree in European public health and a Masters of Health Food Innovation Management, both from Maastricht University. Aside from health and food nutrition, she is also a passionate Ashtanga and Vinyasa instructor at House of Zen, drawn by the philosophy and lifestyle of yoga. Her focus in this workshop is to offer awareness for a mindful, healthy, and balanced nutritional state.
Silvia loves teaching slow flow and Hatha, gentle approaches to the yoga asanas that focus on body alignment and self-awareness. She has a soothing melting voice and an inspiring filled with grace yoga practice. She is also leading House of Zen's outdoor meditative walks, offering new paths of well-being, mindfulness, and connection among all living beings. Silvia was born in Portugal but grew up and lived most of her life in California. She was trained as a yoga instructor in the US and has since then taught in Portugal exploring different styles and approaches to yoga practice.
Coco is inspired by the brightness and colors of the rainbow. She was born French, but lived in London and also in South America, before moving to Portugal. Yoga changed her life profoundly when she was 20 years old, making her want to be a yoga teacher and pursuit her own yogi path. Certified in Hatha and Vinyasa, you can feel how passionate she is during her classes, while at the same time her tranquility and positive energy drive you throughout the practice that will always be accompanied by her beautiful smile.
Freedom and its infinite possibilities. This is what best describes Cathrine's lifestyle approach. Born in Norway, the land of the magical dark nights and memorable auroras, Cathrine brings in her own mystical, enticing aura into her classes, exploring the edges of the best version of yourselves. Her Vinyasa classes are challenging and vigorous. Practicing yoga since her 15 years old, yoga is a beautiful journey in body, mind, and spirit where there is no goal, only awareness. She did her teaching training in Sweeden, having years of experience in Norway, Southern Europe, including Portugal.
Located in Cascais town, the House of Zen is a 10-minute walk from the Cascais Market and close to the beach. Cascais town center offers many restaurants, supermarkets, banks, and other shops.
House of Zen believes that eating more vegetables and other plant-based, less processed, and chemically refined food products can contribute to better health. Therefore, they do their best efforts to buy local products as a way to reduce the environmental impact of transportation. This is their small contribution towards a more sustainable and healthier lifestyle. During your retreat, a simple and healthy breakfast is included, serving on a daily base fresh fruit, yogurt, and tea.

From Lisbon Portela Airport (LIS), take the subway red line and hop off at the end of the line at Alameda station. Then take the subway green line and hop off at the end of the line at Cais do Sodré station. Take the train at Cais does Sodré train station to Cascais direction. Hop off at Cascais station. From here you might choose to walk for 25-30 minutes to your destination or just take a taxi. The trip takes around 1.30 hours to 2 hours.
From the Airport to House of Zen, by car or taxi it takes 30 minutes in non-rush time.
