Very good instructors - Sylvia especially great! Super smart and invested.
Great group of women on retreat too - lifelong friends.

"Great value and a great time"
The staff at the House of Zen were very helpful in helping me settle down and guiding me on how to get to the train to go to Lisbon. The location is very close to the beach, so I highly recommend picking a warm time of year to go here.
Kimma was fun and took time to explain the specifics of some postures. I loved taking her class as it reminded me why I went on this retreat -- to unwind and slow down.
The breakfast was made fresh each morning and was delicious! I highly recommend this location for a retreat because you are getting great accommodation for your money.

"Perfect stay at House of Zen"
I had a really nice time during my 4 day stay at House of Zen! The yoga teachers are very friendly, knowledgeable and would assist you so that you get the best out of the yoga class. I've also learnt a few new techniques, which I continue to do today. The rooms, breakfast and coffee are very nice. The beautiful beach is just 5min. walking distance. Generally, my retreat at the house of Zen was better than expected!

Perfect little hideaway and great location for a restorative break! This is a wonderful yoga studio with a great vibe, everyone is super friendly and welcoming. No task is too great and they are happy to help. Wonderful classes with personal touches that make a bit difference. I organised my classes in the morning so that I had the day to explore the local area. There's lots to do with great transport links.

"Hatha Great Time!"
Had a lovely experience overall at the House of Zen. My friend and I booked the 4 day retreat and indulged in 5 yoga classes over that period. All the instructors were very good and each yoga class was different. Everyone was very friendly and helpful also and there was a lovely calm feel to the house. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Felt totally relaxed the whole time. The breakfasts were amazing - healthy and scrummy! There were suggestions as to what you could do during your stay there also. We took a trip to the Sintra Mountains which we really enjoyed. Thoroughly recommend this Retreat.

"Idyllic in every way "
House of zen is perfectly located, great roof terrace views, short walk from the beautiful beach and along to Cascais. Plenty of restaurants to choose from and everything is so reasonably priced. As beginners we weren't sure if the yoga would be too advanced. This is not the case. Such a varied group of people from all over the world and all levels of yoga were at this retreat and nobody felt uncomfortable. We were all able to achieve our personal yoga goals in the most tranquil and spotlessly clean environment. The staff and instructors are some of the nicest people I have ever met and the place floats like a dream. Your breakfast is prepared in perfect timing to await you after your class and it is exciting getting interesting foods each day. Maryam was also an amazing instructor and I wasn't able to rate her on the list but wanted to say how great her classes were. Thank you everyone at house of zen, just what me and my mum needed to escape our busy, hectic lives. Total recharge. Silvie the owner is also the kindest person who makes it her business to get to know you and adds a really personal touch to your stay... as well as making a surprise fuss of my mum on her birthday with cake:)

Lovely 3 night break in Estoril. The beach is only a 10 minute walk away, with plenty of good restaurants. The House of Zen is a great place to do yoga, particularly the roof terrace. Silvie is very friendly and welcoming, and Fiona makes the most delicious breakfasts.I found the yoga very enjoyable, Laura is very knowledgeable and a good yoga teacher. There is a beautiful garden out the back with hammocks, and the shared bathroom is very nice and spacious. There's also a corner balcony to relax on and a small 'living room' downstairs. I would certainly return to the House of Zen in the future!

Staff friendly and welcoming.
Place is spotless.
Anna and Sivia are not listed in the instructors list, but they were very good too.

"A calm and lovely transition to the New Year"
I went to House of Zen for the New Year retreat together with my mom, and we were both really happy with our stay! The accommodation was lovely, simple in a good way, with everything we needed in the room and a always clean bathroom on the other side of the hallway. It was a very quiet area, but still very close to the ocean and a little square where we could find restaurants, cafes and a really great supermarket. We also walked to Cascais a couple of times - it took about 30-40 minutes and was really stunning walk. It is also possible to rent bikes!
The experience overall was really nice from the minute we came and were welcomed by the beautiful staff. Totally tranquil and we felt very welcome and at home right away. The yoga classes was great, and even though me and my mom have very different background in yoga we both found them accessible and challenging enough. Really knowledgable and skillful teachers that was able to create a safe space for everyone. The meditation and the mindful walk was also really fun, really creating a different transition to the New Year.
And the breakfast was delicious, we especially loved the fresh pressed juices, so yummy!
We can totally recommend House of Zen if you want to stay in a calm place were you have yoga classes just down the stairs, and also a lot of other activities available. Very close to Cascais, Lisbon and Sintra, so it is a great place to explore from too. We'll be back for sure!

"Highly recommended and good quality yoga retreat"
I loved the location and nice atmosphere in the House of Zen. Silvie and her staff do everything to make their guests feel comfortable and welcome. The breakfast is wonderful and the Yoga classes varied and of a high quality. I really loved all the Yoga classes and instructors: especially Juliette, Silvia and Kimma. All have a different style which made the experience complete and fullfilling. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The location is close to the station (max. 10 minutes walk) and very close to the beach too. It's also easy and quite fast to visit Lisbon (30 minutes). The best is the cosy and personal atmosphere in this retreat. Besides of the guests all the staff really tries to make you feel welcome in every way. I hope to do another retreat in the House of Zen in the future. Thank you so much! :)

What an experience. My husband and I loved the location, the House (of Zen), the atmosphere, the yoga classes (the one on Friday evening after the arrival was just perfect) and the mindfulness sessions. It was the perfect week end and we can’t wait to do it again. Thank you all, it has been a real moment of happiness and of self-exploration.

Lovely 3 night break in Estoril. The beach is only a 10 minute walk away, with plenty of good restaurants. The House of Zen is a great place to do yoga, particularly the roof terrace. Silvie is very friendly and welcoming, and Fiona makes the most delicious breakfasts. I think the only thing that could be improved is having aircon for the rooms, and a mini fridge, so we could keep ourselves/ bottles of water cool if it gets too hot. Recently stayed at 'The House of Zen'.
And was just what I was looking for. It was a calm and tranquil haven.
It was a short stay to re-charge and re-balance which I felt like when I left. I had not practiced yoga for a while and they made me feel welcome and confidence to start practicing again at home.
It is also the sea and beach which is lovely. Could definitely come back.
Great b & b, in a quiet location but only 5 minutes walk from the beach and central Estoril where I was attending a conference. Lovely, friendly staff, very clean rooms, great breakfast and a stunning view from the roof terrace. There are several yoga classes during the day and evening with excellent instructors. Highly recommended!
