Welcome to the eighth retreat at Aldermarsh, on Whidbey Island, a beautiful, quiet, wooded, sacred site close to Seattle and Everett, but feels remote amidst a splendid natural setting. It has everything you look for in a retreat center: outstanding, sacred yoga space, beautiful land and grounds, lots of room options, an awesome Japanese soaking tub, and great sauna, wonderful hosts to welcome you, nice kitchen to prepare you great meals, nice hiking trails within walking distance, and even singing frogs and hooting owls!
Aldermarsh on Whidbey Island is a beautiful accommodation with good energy and various room situations, from individual small cabins to rooms with up to 4 or even 5 people. The accommodation provided for this retreat is in a tiny cabin in the woods with one double bed, sink, and a short walk to the shared bath.
If you opt for the camping option, please bring your own tent and gear.
The theme will be Healing and Awakening, on all levels: Physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. You will also explore how to heal and awaken the unconscious or asleep aspects. Are you willing to heal? Are you willing to awaken to truth?
Please plan on arriving any time after 14:00 on Friday. You will have a gentle, meditative yoga class at 17:30 for those who can make it by then. If not, try to arrive for the dinner at 19:00, followed by meditation, intros, and a sacred circle. You will finish around 14:00 on Sunday.
Besides four yoga classes, you will do some hiking in beautiful, bug-free forests. You will do some breath and meditation workshops, as well as a sound bath to help you relax and connect on all levels.
Liz and Roy offer an extended shavasana (relaxation time on your back) where you will play an assortment of bowls (crystal and metal), flute, rattles, etc.
You! The retreat usually has about 15 people, a chance to make new friends and connect, but also quiet time to read, relax, and rejuvenate. You are invited to do as many or as few as classes and activities as fit you and your needs.
For this retreat, you will have a guided hiking trip in the lovely forests surrounding Aldermarsh. You will also have walking meditation sessions.
Roy has taught since 2000 and is a 500-hour certified yoga teacher in the Viniyoga tradition. He teaches safe, gentle, body-friendly, grounded, breath-connected, prayerful, flowing, and traditional Hatha yoga. He also teaches breathwork (pranayama) and meditation and incorporates the aspects of emotional healing and balancing. Roy is less focused on Hindu gods and more interested in aligning with the Divine (God), and clearing the body temple for the Holy Spirit.
Liz Gross is a certified energy therapist, a vibrational medicine practitioner, and a biopulsar reflexograph analyst. She is a graduate of EarthWalk Institute of Healing Arts in Bellevue, Washington. Liz is a gifted sound and vibration healer and teaches with Roy on retreats. Liz teaches yoga, meditation, oneness, and often does some of the cooking on the retreats. She feels very passionate about vibrational medicine and loves working with others in that way. Here newest tool is NeurOptimal, an amazing technology for balancing or training the brain and helping clear past trauma.
