This intensive course explores the science behind the body and mind and it is ideal for those who have always wanted to gain an in depth understanding of all aspects of yoga. The intensive format allows you to fully dedicate yourself to a transformational practice and journey. Personal immersion is a key component in becoming a yoga teacher, in addition to the power of the beautiful surroundings and good nourishing food. The training will be held at Quintola de Santana, it is a lovely and spacious villa in Santana, a village near Sesimbra. It has a sunbathing patio with an outdoor pool, large gardens and a wonderful view of Lisbon where you can enjoy the silence, the company of other yogis or read a good book.

In the house, there are 3 bedrooms, one room with two single beds, one room with three single beds both sharing the same bathroom, and one room with three single beds with private bathroom. Bed linen and towels are provided.

This beautiful site has so much to offer that you can enjoy being surrounded by peace, quiet and nature as you swing in one of the hammocks, refresh in the outdoor pool or just relax in the house.

Upon completion of this yoga teacher training, students will receive certificate affiliated with Yoga Vidya Gurukul. Registration with Yoga Vidya Gurukul meets identified standard set by the organization.

Program and contents

This teacher training program is a holistic experience which covers all aspects of yoga lifestyle. Based on ancient teachings, this training shares the basic theoretical and practical foundations that are useful for becoming a yoga teacher. The greatest value of this training is the fact that it integrates various types of yoga such as Hatha yoga according to Hatha yoga Pradipika, Ashtanga yoga from Patanjali, Karma and Bhakti yoga as prescribed in Bhagavad Gita, Satyananda yoga, and much more.


Practical sessions

Basic and preparatory movements

  • More than 30 basic and preparatory movements to warm up the body, muscles and align the joints to prevent injuries


  • 90 different yoga poses starting with asanas for beginners and intermediate
  • Some advanced poses can be included

  • Yoga Nidra
  • Human anatomy and physiology, a basic knowledge of various body systems including respiratory, digestive, excretory, blood circulatory, nervous, reproductive and endocrine systems and how they are affected by yoga practices
  • Alignment principles and injury prevention in yoga practice (also in practical yoga sessions)
  • Yogic management of common diseases in which there will be hints on the application of yoga for people with back problems, obesity, stress, digestive system problems, diabetes, pregnancy yoga and yoga for kids
  • Sanskrit which includes mantras, the names of the asanas and other words used in the field of yoga
  • Ayurveda - introduction, different body types and diet
  • Teaching methodology or how to properly plan a yoga lesson, prevent injuries, ensure proper body alignment in the postures, correct, assist, encourage, and guide students in their path (practice in groups with micro teaching lessons)

Yogic lifestyle

During the course, participants will be encouraged and guided to follow a lifestyle in line with yogic principles both from a food point of view, but also from a moral-ethical and relational point of view.
