During this retreat, you will stay in a private room. All accommodations are located around the studio within a short walk distance. The Canarian chalets and apartments are private. Each has a maximum of three bedrooms with white linen comfortable beds with Marseille soap fragrance. The facilities include hair dryer, laundry machine, beach towels, toiletries and WiFi.

On Sunday, you will have your first orientation walk through the dunes at Gran Canaria and enjoy a delicious welcome dinner made by a Thai team member of Holiday Yoga - Gran Canaria at the Dunes. You will practice from Monday to Friday Hatha Flow, Pranayama and Yin yoga. An Aereal yoga class will be reserved for friday in the retreat. This retreat includes pranayama sessions, and a yoga basics and method class. During this retreat, you will have free time to enjoy extra activities or body treatments.

This retreat will take place at a yoga studio in Playa del Ingles, Gran Canaria in Spain. This is also called the "Island of the fortunes" or the Hawai island from Europe. Geographically is near to Africa, and ethnologically it is a south american influenced region administrated by Madrid. The subtropical destination of Maspalomas includes the natural reserve of the dunes, which constitutes an important landmark of Gran Canaria. It is much appreciated as a winter destination for foreign tourists, mostly from north-European countries and it remains as the largest tourist destination in the Canary Islands.

Upon arrival, you will enjoy a delicious welcome dinner made by a Thai cook member of Holiday Yoga - Gran Canaria at the Dunes. During this retreat, from Monday through Friday, you will have breakfast after yoga class. Before the session, you will be able to enjoy snacks such as tea, water, fruit, or nuts. You will also have two days available to enjoy breakfast in different locations.

The daily breakfast may include ingredients for vegetarians and vegans, lactose and gluten free based. This retreat includes drinks like hot water, teas, coffee, and fresh ginger juice. Also available will be options like a banana porridge, nuts, raisins, figs, dates, coco raspel, and cinnamon.

Tropical fruits and saladas will be served as well as bread spread like hummus, avocado dip, tomato and onion marmalade, ray bread, butter, and jam.Daily green salad with either eggs, cheese, and tortilla will be offered.

You can take bus line 66 and 90 direction to Maspalomas. The ticket will cost approximately 3.50 EUR to Playa del Ingles. After passing the Yumbo Center twice, you exit at the Plaza Hierro bus station. Transfer from this airport is available upon request.

The metered taxi will wait for you in front of the arrival hall. Instruct the driver to drop you off at Playa del Ingles, Avenida Gran Canaria. The estimated cost is 40 EUR.

    Cran Canaria Yoga

    CONS Cons: Playa del Ingles ist doch sehr touristisch...hatte einen ruhigeren "Yogaort" erwartet. Die Wege an den Strand relativ weit und nervig an den Straßen.

    PROS Pros: Die Yogalehrer Hardy und Tatsiana waren sehr gut...sehr bemüht. Das Essen einsame spitze, nicht nur gekocht bekommen von den Yogalehrern, was eine sehr persönliche Note hatte. Sondern auch die gute Perle im Haus, die Frühstücksdame tischte jeden Morgen toll auf. Auch die Möglichkeit, dass man mit dem Yogalehrer einmal die Woche einen Ausflug in die Umgebung machen konnte.

    Excellent introduction to yoga holidays

    PROS Pros: Yoga at the Dunes was a great introduction to yoga holidays. The yoga sessions were varied and suited to our needs and abilities. The yoga room was good and perfect for a small group (6 at our maximum plus teacher). The villa was pleasant and well stocked, with everything you might need, with use of a fantastic shared pool that was mostly empty and the food was excellent - varied and interesting! very good value for money.

    CONS Cons: langer Weg zum Strand, kann

    PROS Pros: Auch wenn der Playa ingles ziemlich touristisch daherkommt, habe ich meine Nischen gefunden :-) Das kleine feine Yogazentrum ist eine Oase, das Yoga abwechslungsreich, da die Lehrer verschiedene Techniken präsentieren. Mir hat u.a. sehr gut gefallen, dass Kundalini Yoga auch einen Platz im Programm hatte. Die Atmosphäre war insgesamt sehr familiär und entspannt. Das Essen liebevoll hergerichtet und lecker. Der Hausherr hat uns überrascht mit interessanten und bereichernden Ausflügen ins Hinterland. Er ist botanisch bewandert und kann daher einiges über endemische Pflanzen zum Besten geben. Zu guter Letzt muss ich noch die Massagesitzung beim kongenialen thailändischen Heiler Theeta erwähnen, sie ist unbedingt empfehlenswert und eine Superergänzung zum Yogastretching :-)

    Not in the Dunes

    CONS Cons: I thought the accomodation or yoga would be in or nearer the dunes I thought we might do some yoga outside Aerial yoga was uninsured but we were not warned prior to holiday so we could get insurance

    Yoga in the dunes????

    CONS Cons: Keine Dünen in der Nähe, totaler Massentourismus abseits des Meeres- 30 min zu Fuß, mein Flug hatte Verspätung und der Anbieter meinte ich solle im Airport Hotel übernachten, da er nicht so lange wach bleiben wollte. Anfahrt vom Flughafen waren 30 Minuten!!! Eine totale Frechheit. Geteiltes Badezimmer war auch nicht auf der Website ersichtlich.

    CONS Cons: My room did not even have a proper window. The garden was almost non existing (very very small) located in Maspalomas which is far away from a typical yoga retreat location (really touristy and plastic fantastic look). I missed the green element overall. The yoga lessons quality was below standard. I totally missed the spiritual side of the yoga retreat, I missed the heart in it. Secondary things which I would improve is the chance to give breakfast every day inclusive Saturdays and Sundays. I am not a complaining type and I still made the best out of but I am sure they could do with some improvements to give a better yogi true retreat experience.

    PROS Pros: the food was really good and various. The people were friendly. I met lovely yoginis that week with whom I had a great time. The weather was perfect. I enjoyed one lesson aerial yoga. Everybody was very helpful if we had questions, I could stay few more hours after check out which I am really thankful for.

    "We were there for a week in march. The accomadation was big and pretty nice. Unfortunatly there was a bar underneath and every night really loud music. So it was not possible to sleep well. The Yoga classes were usually lasting around 60-70 minutes and not 90 minutes. Eventhough the yoga teachers were really nice, it was mostly relaxing yin yoga and not demanding at all. Therefore we were a bit dissapointed of the yoga classes. The breakfast, which was included, was good. Only one day, there was pasta with cheese and potato mayo salad for breakfast- which made us wonder if this were left overs from some dinner...We would recomend the yoga retreat for people who want to party and rather try out yoga for the first time. "

    "I stayed there one week in March and did not regret it. The studio is nestled in a cozy villa where we had the daily (and very healthy) breakfast altogether. The place is very peaceful and invites you to yoga practice and meditation (the wooden ceiling is my top favorite among the refined decoration of the whole place). I was staying in a spacious and very pleasant house 10 min walk from the studio. We had three different teachers, who brought their own experiences and techniques, which helped me discover e.g. new breathing exercises, massages with tennis balls, etc. And I loved the air yoga session! So this program is perfect for those who want to combine yoga practice and visits/relaxing on the beach."

    "I greatly enjoyed my week with Hari and the team at Holiday Yoga. There was an immediate sense of camaraderie among the participants and the teachers. I particularly appreciated the opportunity to practice different types of yoga during the week, culminating in the playful aerial yoga session on the last day. I also liked the international atmosphere of the retreat as participants hailed from all over Europe. The vibe was very easy going, accepting and supportive. And the creative vegetarian group meals were a nice way to spend time with fellow participants. I’ll probably be back!"

    "I had a wonderful week at Holiday Yoga - Gran Canaria at the Dunes. Your host, Hari, is a very positive, welcoming and authentic person who puts his heart in what he does. In case of questions, he is really there for you. The classes were neither too advanced nor too beginner. I learned and I relaxed. The meals were absolutely fantastic. As a vegetarian, it was such a treat to have these diverse, healthy, delicious breakfasts and dinners. We slept in a very comfortable little house with everything you need included. Even yoga mats to do yoga at the end of the week when the classes are finished. We enjoyed the garden and the swimming pool so much. On Thursday, Hari took us for a wonderful hike in the mountains. This exciting excursion was appreciated by everyone. Thank you so much Hari and everyone who made it happen! Hope to see you again!"

    "It was a wonderful stay at Holiday Yoga. Hari the owner is a lovely person, he is very anxious to make your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. The yoga classes had a big focus on breathing and meditating which was a great experience for me as a Vinyasa Yogi. The food was delicious and always fresh. The joint meals where a good opportunity to get in contact with the group. Overall I met a lot of friendly and lovely people and I would recommend everyone to do a Yogaretreat at Haris place. "

    "I had an amazing, relaxing week at Holiday Yoga - Gran Canaria. I was made to feel very welcome the moment I arrived which was reassuring travelling alone. My room was lovely and comfortable in an apartment within walking distance to the yoga studio and main house. It was also walking distance to the beach, shops, restaurants and evening entertainment so a great location. I loved the yoga classes morning and evening, all classes were for all levels of yoga. All the yoga teachers were professional, welcoming, warm and very supportive always adding their own individual style and advice. The Yoga studio is a very calming and relaxing atmosphere with perfect little personal touches such as candles, incense, meditative music, blankets and pillows. The brunch provided each morning was delicious, always vegetarian with a variety of healthy options and there was no need for lunch as always plenty to eat. Evening meals were also offered at an additional cost with my package, these were great value and the food was vegetarian and again delicious. Hari and Sonja gave information of local places to visit and also arranged a tour into the mountains on the weekend which was beautiful. I finished my week at Holiday yoga with an amazing treatment from Teeta who provides holistic Thai massage and I felt thoroughly relaxed to return home. Throughout my stay I felt welcomed by the staff and other guests with also having freedom to explore Gran Canaria if i wanted to. This made travelling alone so much easier for me. I have come home feeling relaxed, refreshed and relieved of stress. Such an amazing experience I cannot wait to return for another retreat."

    "My husband and I had a wonderful and relaxing week with Holiday Yoga - Gran Canaria at the Dunes. Great yoga, charming host and teachers, a marvelous opportunity to relax with your loved ones or on your own. YOGA: The host and the teachers are all extremely warm, fun, and welcoming, and you can feel and see at every corner the little personal touches that make your stay extra special. For example, from time to time, candles would be lit during relaxation or meditation, you would be tucked in under a comfy blanket, or incense would be lit. We thoroughly enjoyed the Yoga classes that were offered bilingually in English and German, and had particular fun at the aerial yoga class at the end of our stay. You could feel that all teachers enthusiastically embraced the spirit of yoga, while never being dogmatic or pushing participants to do anything they were not comfortable with. Host Hari is particularly gifted in guiding relaxation and meditation phases, and wonderful free-spirited Sonja (I never laughed so much during yoga in all my life) spent an optional extra hour introducing us to shamanism and power animals. ACCOMODATION & MEALS: The private accommodations are easy on the eyes, spotlessly clean and comfortable and feature access to a pool. The vegetarian breakfast/brunch and the dinners tasted amazing and were lovingly prepared. WELLNESS: Do not miss out on the massage options! LOCATION: In walking distance of both the famous dunes and the beach of Playa Ingles. Easily accessible from the airport. EXCURSIONS: The host is kindly advising the guests on any excursions they would like to go on. In addition, a hiking and sightseeing trip to the stunning center of the island is offered on Saturday. PRICING: Excellent. The week was well worth the money and we would go back again in a heartbeat."

    "A full and filling experience exceeding any expectations! Enriching not only to my simple practice of yoga, but the facilitators and teachers are extremely professional, so caring, authentic and supportive in seeing that each individual feels comfortable in their residential community and is getting what they need. Excellent balance of dynamic morning Vinyassa Yoga after which an absolutely healthy and delicious generous organic communal breakfast was provided at the main house where many friendly exchanges took place. The break during the day offers enough time to go to the beach, hike or do some shopping, have a massage (the team practitioner you’ll want to take home with you!) and then the crown of the day – evening Yin Yoga. Relaxing, challenging and integral in assimilating all the components of whatever the day’s experience presented and are individual to each of us. Hari is a rare gem. We stayed a week longer on the island after the retreat but were welcome and grateful to attend further yoga sessions. We really missed it!"

    "Ich war vom 14.12.-21.12.2016 Holiday Yoga - Gran Canaria at the Dunes. Das Hotel ist urban gelegen, man kommt schnell überall hin. Der Strand ist nah gelegen, sodass man sowohl Stadt, als auch Strand im Urlaub hat. Die Lehrer sind sehr nett und auch die Küche hat mir sehr gut gefallen.
