"I spend 1 week in this ashram in Mid March and it was not only the first time for me visiting India but also my very first stay in an ashram. So I didn't know what to expect. Guru Ram and the whole team was amazing and truly dedicated to help us on our path of discipline, yoga, meditation and spirituality. This place is recommendable for people who truly want to learn and grow - get balanced and centered."

"All the feedback and answers I received were incredible impulses for me and made me take my time and space to reflect about myself and my life so I could grow through self-reflection. "

"I truly feel happy and grateful for this time and I am sad that I could only stay for 1 week as the teacher training started the following week and the ashram was fully booked. Otherwise I would have stayed for at least 2-3 weeks."

"I should also mention that the food was amazing and everyone was always smiling and helping us with all issues."

    "Thank you!"

"I will definitely visit you again!! :)"

"How many times in your life do you get the perfect opportunity to spend quality time with your conscience in the right place with the right people ? Himalayan Yog Ashram will give you this unique opportunity. "

    ""

"If you are truly ready and willing to meet yourself, to explore and accept yourself, to give yourself time and dedication, space and silence to absorb and keep everything you'll get, then look no more. Because if you are ready to play the game, you will get a lot here. "

    ""

"You will experience mantra chants early in the morning at 5am and a deep state of meditativeness along with relaxing breathing techniques with Kapil. You will then experience a gradual physical practise of the asanas. This is an opportunity to connect further with your body through breathing techniques. These few hours will provide you with tremendous peace. Expect some beautiful birds singing in the background. This will surely enhance your experience. Then you will seize the opportunity to share your most intimate thoughts and questions with Yogi Ram who in return will provide you with much wisdom, clarity and insight and give you the space to shift perspective in your life during the teaching hour. As you will notice, this session will leave the group pondering over their own life and no one will be willing to break the silence. Once you leave your yoga mat and the Yoga Room, you will find yourself bathing in the morning sunlight on the rooftop terrace surrounded with flowers. Your gaze will lose itself while contemplating the Himalayan Hills and the Ganga Nadi running through Rishikesh. I cherished these moments where my conscience was left in expansion... Then you will enjoy an ayurvedic meal prepared with love and dedication by Narender and a typical indian tchaï. After which you will have plenty of time to rest, daydream, read, think, draw, contemplate, allow yourself to connect deeply with your conscience...and let everything sink in. And againt at 5pm, you will be chanting Oms and start entering in a deep state meditation while Yogi Ram's voice will be guiding you through at first and then you will take over with your mala. Then you will have a succulent light dinner mostly sitting in silence and a sweet that will bring a smile to your face with a deep sense of contentment. "

    ""

"Feel free to tidy up and clean the yoga room, clean the dining table etc. and kindly remember to offer your help whenever possible. Some seva (a helping hand) every now and then is more than welcome to cultivate humility and remember that this is not a hotel where you consume knowledge and practise fitness exercices but an Ashram, that is at the core of Indian culture with its deep-rooted traditions. "

    ""

"That's the whole point of staying in the Ashram. Of course, you can share your thoughts or have a good laugh every now and then. But the luxury of this authentic and highly hospitable place, beside the benefits of living it all in small groups, is definitely the space it will offer you to connect with your deeper Self. Hence the simplicity of the rooms. They are comfortable and well-equiped but don't expect any sort of luxury that might distract you from the bare necessities of your soul."

    ""

"Far away from the hitting sun and the hustle and bustle of excited horns, you will find the quietness required to indulge in the lasting effects of a relaxing Shirodara treatment, a deep Ayurvedic massage or a relieving Nabhi basti. These are a few examples of the valuable ayurvedic treatments that Teg Singh - the Ashram specialist who has been studying Ayurveda for 15 years - will gently provide you with his authentic kindness. "

    ""

"This is what to expect. If not, then you might as well look for a casual hostel to go in and out and carry on with your usual habits and behavioral patterns. And be fair. Don't expect any sort of change in your life nor any deeper understanding or lasting acceptance of your own identity if you put shopping or hanging out at the top of your to-do list. It will be business as usual and there will no one to blame but your ability to make decisions for yourself. "

    ""

"And if you dare seizing the challenge, then you are definitely in for a treat. And the nicest thing is that your true journey will start once you leave the Ashram. That's where you start feeling the real change and getting the numerous benefits. "

    ""

"Definitely a life changing experience... I will return with my friends and alone too. "

    ""

"Deepest gratitude to All in the Ashram."

    "I did a YTT here."

"At first I was stunned by pretty much everything about this place, Ram, which runs the place, welcomed me and showed me to my room. He instantly made me feel welcome and seen. The rooms are clean and good, all comforts and unlimited supply of tea (good kinds)"

"Since I was gonna spend a month doing the teacher training it is pretty important that I felt good in the surroundings, which I did."

"The YTT itself, wow, where to start."

"It was ALOT more about me then I thought it'd be. At first this bothered me, I wanted more physical asanas and more challenges (pitta)"

"But when I slowly accepted things as they where, I felt that this was, and is, exactly what I needed, and I'd like to go out on a limb and say, what everyone needs."

"This place will teach you the true meaning of yoga, in all it's aspects."

"If you want 75% or the course to be asanas you can show-off, this isn't the place for you, but if you want a journey deeper into yourself while learning about yoga, food, the body and much more, it is."

"Cannot write a review without mentioning; the best yoga teacher (and human being) I've been lucky enough to encounter works and lives here. Teju."

"Seriously, I spent four months in India, and if all I have to show for it is meeting Teju, it'd be worth it. And you're in luck because he's in charge of Yoga Asanas, Ayurveda & Anatomy."

"I did the yoga teacher training (YTT) in the Himalayan Yog Ashram and finally spent 5 weeks in this amazing place. My aim was not to have the certificate. I was looking for an Ashram where I have the chance to learn more about the real yogic path and where I find space to contemplate myself. That's exactly what was offered to me. My whole stay has been a deep, inspiring, sometimes challenging and very beautiful experience. "

    ""

"During the YTT you gain a lot of knowledge (asanas, ayurveda, anatomy, philosophy, pranayama, meditation) and as you practice daily, you integrate what you learn. Yogi Ram - very dedicated to his own path - opens up space to dive profoundly into yourself, if you're willing to do so. "

    ""

"Everyone in the team is welcoming and caring. They make you feel at home immediately."

"The place is clean and well kept. The balconies are full of flowers and plants. The food is delicious, always fresh and healthy. They offer filtered water, so you don't need to buy plastic bottles. The rooms/bathrooms are simple and nice. The Ashram is like a quiet oasis above busy Rishikesh/Topovan. "

    ""

"I had a hard time to leave. My heart wanted to stay. I will be back:-)."

"I did the 2 week Ashram stay and it was a wonderful experience. This is a place for reflection and contemplation guided by Yogi Ram's useful and simple insights. I appreciated the fact that it is a very small place (5 rooms) and that the environment is very homely. The food is simple but delicious. The rooms are very comfortable. The place is very well located with beautiful surroundings, not very far from the Ganga river. I would 100% recommend for someone who is looking to dig deeper into their soul, not so much if you're looking for yoga as physical exercise. Also, don't stay here if you plan to use it as a hotel, the whole purpose of free time is to give space to yourself and let things flow, not to put many activities and walks to the village."

"My time at Himalayan Yog Ashram was a quiet, beautiful experience of meditation, yoga, pranayama, and learning. The rooms are spotless. The atmosphere is serene. All of the teachers, cooks, healers, and instructors are expert, friendly, and professional. The food was healthy and delicious. The yoga genre is from the Himalayan masters and very focused on breathing, meditation, and keeping breath under control during the asana practice vs. being a high-energy flow. It was so good, I booked for one week and stayed for two. Please note this is an amazing place for a deep inward journey but not a good place if you want to tour Rishikesh or socialize. Namaste!"

"Very appreciative and grateful for the excellent two weeks I spent at the ashram. I felt welcomed and nurtured my entire stay there and left feeling nourished and inspired. My commitment to my yoga practice really deepened during my stay and was well-supported by Ram and the other teachers, all of whom are energetic, focused, and available. The encouragement and practical methods of meditation are serving me well as I continue to pursue my practice daily."

"The ashram itself is lovely and calm, set back from the village but still close enough to walk to the village, with a gorgeous view of the mountains. Other highlights for me were the treatments and the food. Both are so good! Sending warm regards to Ram and all the others there. Many thanks, and I hope to return again!"

"I have spent five weeks in this ashram, and it was a life-changing experience. From the first moment I felt this incredible good and down-to-earth energy. I was very welcomed from everybody. The set program which can be adjusted to everybody’s needs is exactly what is needed to get grounded and to get slowly step by step deeper into the meditation and yoga practice. Ram was throughout the whole time very helpful with every single person. You could see and feel that he is very passionate to pass on his knowledge and to engage people to work on their discipline, which is a great boost to work even more on yourself."

"The whole staff is lovely and very professional. They are all doing a great job. One more thing I would like to point out is the healthy and fresh food that is cooked and served with love every single day. I loved it."

"It is a great place for people who want to create space, face themselves, and work on themselves. It is not a hotel to spend some time only to enjoy the yoga and meditation class. People who are looking for this, they should not stay in an ashram as they are only interrupting other people’s process."

"I want to give a big thank you to everybody in Himalayan Yog Ashram. Everything I have learned will accompany me in the future, and I am very happy to have experienced this with you."

    "With love,"

"I’m writing this review for a visit to the ashram a year ago. It has taken me a while to get around to it! But that also says how much I enjoyed my stay. There aren’t many places that I’ve traveled to which have left such an impact and I’d take the time to write about a year later! My husband was a complete cynic about the whole trip and was more pressured than excited about going, but even he admitted he had the most wonderful experience. If you are looking for an ashram, in an intimate setting (there are only a handful of rooms), with a private bedroom and great teachers, this place is food for your soul."
