During this retreat, you will be staying at Batosic Bed & Breakfast with the option of a private room, shared double room, or shared triple room. The house has free Wi-Fi and a guest PC in the lobby.

The rooms are simple but clean, each with a mini-fridge and satellite television, a safe, and a kettle with tea/coffee. There is a fully equipped summer kitchen in the garden where you will find everything you need to prepare any other meals.

The retreat

What to expect on the first day:

On Sunday morning, after a mindfulness walk, Helen Keenan serves breakfast on the terrace of the B&B. After breakfast, you will begin the Roll Model® training. This training can, of course, be taken purely for the benefit of your own self-care, however, for those who plan on teaching this material professionally, or who are taking it as a CPD course, to get the most out of the training, please see suggested resources below. Please note that ‘The Roll Model’ book is required for the training and is easily sourced from websites such as Amazon and Book Depository.

Free time

On Tuesday, you will have a free day. There is an optional morning yoga class in the SKY Yoga Studio before breakfast. After breakfast you can spend the day as you like; relax, go rafting, be sporty, spend the day on the beach on the crystal-clear Adriatic Sea, or just stroll and drink coffee in the charming old town with its small shops, like the locals. If you are up for hiking, the path to the Biokovo mountain and nature park starts immediately behind the house we are staying in, just bring hiking shoes!

Yoga studio etiquette:

  • If you sweat profusely during the yoga practice, please use your own yoga mat for hygiene reasons - or use a towel on top of the mat provided
  • Please do not take any drinking glasses into the yoga room
  • After class, please fold blankets neatly, roll straps, stack blocks
  • Please wear clean and appropriate workout clothes
  • Helen Keenan would be grateful if you do not wear strong perfumes
  • Please think of your neighbors on the mat. Deodorants are allowed and sometimes desired
  • Please wash your feet before stepping on the mats

Retreat location

Makarska is a small town with a population of about 15,000 people. It is very safe, and you can go out in the evening alone without fear, for a drink or something to eat, or for a stroll downtown. However, there are a lot of cobblestones and the Bed & Breakfast is located on a hill, so bring a pair of sneakers! There is a DM drugstore, Bipa, and a Miller, (like Boots in the UK), who all offer a small selection of natural, gluten and lactose-free products.

Pharmacies, many cafes, boutiques, and cheap restaurants - everything is within walking distance. At Lidl and Kaufland, as well as all sorts of small grocery stores and a large fruit and vegetable market, you get almost everything you might need.

In the morning, fresh fish is sold directly from the boat at the harbor. There are bakeries on every corner. In the evenings, restaurants, ice cream parlors, bars and taverns along the waterfront invite you to enjoy delicious Mediterranean cuisine, accompanied by a glass of wine overlooking the sea.

Breakfast is served outside on the patio and includes everything that a good solid breakfast should contain. Of course, Helen Keenan can accommodate some special requests (please let them know beforehand).

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Split Airport (SPU). Taxis and private transfers are always an option when traveling, but if you would prefer a cheaper alternative, the bus is a much cheaper option. As participants may be flying into different airports, we encourage you to search for local buses to Makarska.

Helen Keenan recommends flying into Split Airport if possible, and, if there are enough people, they might be able to organize an airport transfer for the group to the retreat location. If you are flying home in the evening time, you can lock your luggage in Split, at the bus station, and stroll around the beautiful city center which is only two minutes away from the main bus station.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 16.94% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 30 days before arrival.
