The Blue Butterfly is a beautifully restored, thatched barn with thick walls, wooden floors, and valley and mountain views from every window. The space is surrounded by lush gardens, low stone walls, and many thriving trees; all supporting an area that feels both peaceful and held.

There are 18 beds available in either 2 bed or 4 bed rooms, all en suite. The centre's facilities Include:

The studio / workshop space

Making up most of the ground floor, this space has wooden floors, bathrooms, plenty of cushions, double doors opening onto a covered veranda and a big fire place with a stock of wood for the cooler nights.

The kitchen

Connected to the studio via the veranda is the large farm-style kitchen which is fully equipped and can seat up to 18 persons. The kitchen has two gas ovens, a large fridge / freezer, a microwave and plenty of crockery, cutlery, and serving dishes.

The gardens

There is a fire pit which is supplied with plenty of fire wood for the duration of your stay, a secluded gazebo for quiet time and a peaceful fishpond alongside the bird garden. In the gardens you will also find several restful sitting spots and at the far end, there is a wooden gate that leads directly into the reserve.

The nature reserve

The Blue Butterfly is situated in the heart of the Welbedacht Game and Nature Reserve; 153 hectares to explore including game, abundant flora and bird life, a swimming dam, labyrinth and natural trails to walk or bike, as well as magnificent views.

Program

This special weekend retreat will be hosted and facilitated by Janet Farquharson. These dates have been especially selected to align with the New Moon on the 11th July, to embrace the energy of release, renewal, and creating new beginnings forward.

This will be a silent retreat, to really allow one to go inwards, reconnect with nature and oneself. The noble silence will begin on Friday lunchtime and end on Sunday lunchtime. Eye contact and sharing smiles is allowed.

Although this is a silent retreat, the processes, activities, and theme of the retreat will be around yoga, sound, and vibration. All delicious meals will be vegan and made with love. This retreat's itinerary is full of dynamic, heart-opening, transformational, and healing processes, but also allows time to reflect and rest.

In your free time, you can enjoy nature walks on the beautiful farm, swim in the dam, read, sleep, or journal.
