During this retreat, you will stay in a self-contained cottage. All rooms have heating / cooling system, their own bathrooms, and kitchen facilities.


The yoga and Mindfulness

This retreat, which is suitable for all levels of ability, offers a great opportunity for you to immerse yourself in a yoga and Mindfulness practice and explore how this then affects your whole being. For those who do not know Jacqui and Shimon, they have over 60 years of collective experience in teaching, studying, and practicing yoga. Shimon’s good humor will lift your spirit and Jacqui’s depth of spiritual wisdom will leave you quiet within. They will both take your yoga practice to the next level.


Day 1: Friday, March 16, 2018

  • 15:30 Leave Moorabbin Airport (MBW)
  • 16:30 Arrive in King Island
  • Drive from Currie to Naracoopa
  • Evening Mindfulness session
  • Dinner

Day 2: Saturday, March 17, 2018

  • Morning asana and meditation class
  • Tour of Currie
  • Visit Kelp
  • Head north and have lunch at Cape Wickham (the tallest lighthouse in Australia)
  • Visit the Disappointment Bay (you won’t be disappointed) and engage in a Mindfulness session
  • Visit a cheese factory, watch a video of the cheese making on the island, and take home some supplies
  • Asana and meditation in Naracoopa
  • Dinner

Day 3: Sunday, March 18, 2018

  • Morning asana and meditation
  • Breakfast
  • Head down to the south of the island, the Seal Rocks
  • Mindfulness walk to the most southern tip of the island
  • Lunch at the Surprise Bay
  • Visit Grassy harbor (main port of the island)
  • Visit kelp shop
  • Visit art gallery
  • Asana and meditation in Naracoopa
  • Dinner

Day 4: Monday, March 19, 2018

  • Breakfast and final Mindfulness session
  • 09:00 Leave King Island
  • 10:00 Arrive at Moorabbin Airport (MBW)

Jacqui Brumley
Jacqui's passion for yoga was discovered after her first foray at age 16. 35 years later, after extensive training and study, that passion has been transformed into a holistic way of life, where teaching and sharing experience is as much a part of her yogic journey as her daily practice. At Hawthorn Malvern Yoga Centre, Jacqui brings a wealth of knowledge, teaching and nurturing her students, while integrating her own unique yogic philosophy into every class. As a principal teacher, Jacqui conducts advanced yoga classes, meditation, pranayama, Prenatal yoga, and Restorative yoga.
Shimon Tchobutaru
For over 20 years, Shimon has been imparting his passion and commitment to yoga to students of all ages and abilities. As a highly accomplished practitioner, Shimon relishes demonstrating the power of yoga, but without ego or pretense. As a principal teacher at HMYC, Shimon teaches a broad cross-section of yoga classes and workshops but specializes in beginner students. Every class with Shimon is dynamic, fun, and accessible. His philosophy is deceptively simple to engage, assist his students, and allow them to discover their own unique passion for yoga.

Retreat location

You will be staying on the eastern side of the island in a small village called Naracoopa. Naracoopa is said to be the Riviera of the island because it is always sunny. Naracoopa is 25 minutes from the main town, Currie.

All food will be vegetarian and delicious. There will be a strong theme of King Island product in all meals. Any special dietary requirements can be catered for with prior notice. As well as main meals, there will be snacks and hot beverages available throughout the day.

How to get there

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Moorabbin Airport (MBW). Transfer from and to the airport is included. Hawthorn Malvern Yoga Centre will pick you up from the airport.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 20% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 28 days before arrival.
