Hatha yoga

Hatha yoga helps to gain control over the senses through body exercises. This ancient mother of all the exercises offers a wonderful possibility for good health, long life, and happiness. The combination of the body exercises, breathing techniques, intentional imaginations, and meditation based on peace are the chariot for you to go into a complete new and wonderful life. This is especially recommended for people with the well-known back pain.

“Hatha” derives from the Sanskrit words “ha” (sun) and “tha” (moon). Hatha yoga is one of the ancient disciplines to attain divine consciousness and self-realization. The word “yoga” is derived from the Sanskrit root “yuj” (to yoke / yoke your mind). Given by the glorious primal (original) Guru Sri Adinath - Lord Shiva, Hatha yoga shines forth as a straight way for those who wish to ascend to their highest levels.

Hatha yoga is also known as the science of purification. Hatha yoga is considered to be the preliminary practice of Tantra, Raja yoga, Kundalini yoga and Kriya yoga.

Eight stages of Hatha yoga

  • Yama: Restraint, especially external control, like no injury and continence
  • Niyama: Internal control, like equanimity and meditation
  • Asana: Bodily postures
  • Pranayama: Breath control
  • Pratyahara: Control of the senses
  • Dharana: Meditation
  • Dhyana: Contemplation
  • Samadhi: A form of super-consciousness

Kriya yoga

“Kriya” derives from the Sanskrit words “kri” (action) and “ya” (awakens). Kriya yoga, the scientific art of mastering the physical body through postures of relaxation known as asanas, muscular locks called bandahs, and psychophysical gestures known as mudras.

Asana refers to a posture, which produces relaxation. Mudra is a gesture, movement or position, which affects the flow of pranic energy in the body. It also refers to a corresponding psychic attitude. Bandha is a psych-muscular energy lock, which redirects the flow of pranic energy in the human body and awakens the chakras.

Kriya yoga is based on the teaching of Kriya Babaji Nagaraji (203 A.D.). Kriya yoga reveals one’s “union with God”, known as an ‘Integral yoga’. It brings about an integral or complete transformation of the individual on all the five major planes of existence. Surrender to the inner Kriya light and practice Babaji’s dynamic yoga to experience the divine joy physically, vitally, mentally, intellectually, and spiritually.

The Kriya postures enable one to regulate the debilitating effects of stress and maintain one’s balance in all situations. They help the physical body to be calm during meditation. The message of Babaji and Christ is one. Unconditional, impersonal love leads men towards intimate relationship with God, the father mother of the reason of our existence.

Babaji said that the self dwells in all. All are manifestations of the one God. By injuring another, you injure your own self. By serving another, you serve your own self. Love all, serve all, hate none and insult none, in thought, word, and deed. Become a cosmic lover, seeing God in each and every unit of matter.

Kalamos is a small mountain village, 40 kilometers from the center of Athens, the capital of Greece. There is a beautiful view of the sea, Evia Gulf, from Kalamos village, and the beach is just eight kilometers away.

The mountain is ideal for walks and other activities, full of wild flowers and Greek herbs. All seasons are magnificent. The beach of St. Apostoli is just below. A long, clean beach, with a beautiful small fish port, a few taverns (Greek restaurants) and shops. Amfiarium is the ancient healing place with an ancient theater in a very good condition, just five minutes outside the village.
