Joint and gland movements

These movements are very useful to beginners, who want to start doing yoga but don't have any experience of yoga or any other exercise. There are several joints in your body, which needs lubrication and movements. The food you consume supplies the lubrication and yoga and other activities provide the movements. In your regular life, some of these joints are overused and some are rarely used which may create problems at a later stage in your life.

To help these joints maintain their healthy condition basic movements are necessary also they are used to prepare your body to take up yoga. Practice daily, be regular, and always move slowly with the concentration on your movements. Try to be aware of the breath at all times and unless otherwise specified keep the breath even. Repeat all exercise three times but avoid going beyond your capacity, when you feel strain stop and relax, then proceed more gently.

The aim of the asana and sequences is continuous self-observation. You should understand why you should practice the asana. What is the purpose of doing it? You know that asanas have therapeutic values. Because of the movement of the joints, muscles, and glands make the blood flow nice and make the energy move to each cell of your body. Making the body healthy through asanas is not the ultimate purpose.

The yogis practice asanas to master the body movement and they dissolve the five elements to its universal source. Asana sequences of Hari Om Yoga Vidya School (Student will learn 61 selected postures in 300-hour yoga teacher training course)

Know your foundation is meditation

Why meditation?

Let the meditation processes take place upon the lake surface of silence – that is calming the voices that keep disturbing you during meditation. The force of Samskaras, unpaid karmic debts, and the daily accumulations through the outside world, through the senses, which then become the background noises while the music of meditation is going on. While you have accepted the fact that these Samskaras, the unpaid karmic debts, daily accumulations of distractions are natural, you can still deepen your meditation and enjoy some moments of silence, true silence, during your practice.

During your meditation add this one point: it is understood that it is not possible for anyone who is not fully accomplished that there should be a 30-minute meditation without any noises from the brain and from the memory cells. Yet one can undertake the two-minute practice or one-minute practice, and that is that during meditation you say to yourself.

Learning points:

  • Types of sitting posture for meditation
  • Correct sitting posture
  • How to establish diaphragmatic breathing
  • Types of meditations
  • Two minutes/five minutes meditation
  • 16 steps of basic meditation
  • "So-Hum" meditation
  • Sushumna meditation
  • Mantra meditation
  • Spinal breathing meditation
  • Practicum category

After two weeks, each student will have the opportunity to lead the morning asana class, adjust evening asana class, pranayama, chanting, and yoga Nidra. The day before students teach, students will observe instead of participating in asana class and take notes. The day after, they will adjust while another student teaches.

In the evening asana class (where you focus on techniques of adjustment and modifications), students will retouch asana adjustments of their choosing to the class. With this, each student will have at least five contact hours of teaching practice.

Homework and discussion

Students will write two pages for any two topics from her/his own experience of understanding. Students will present their work in two 45-minute presentations, followed by a question and answers. There will be a discussion section once a week, to review the material covered and engage with any questions. There will be guided journaling once a week to foster the students’ transformation into teachers.
