Dive deeper into the aspects of yoga that interest you by completing five 60-hour special interest modules. GypSea Yoga School offers various modules to help you deepen your practice and grow your business. Yoga Nidra is among the offered modules. Through this module, you will learn Yoga Nidra's techniques while staying in a yoga paradise in Uvita, Costa Rica.
During this yoga teacher training, you will stay in a private room in Hospedaje El Bosquecito. Hospedaje El Bosquecito is situated on a quiet section of the main road of Uvita. Located right beside a small creek and forest, guests have the pleasure of being up close to birds, toucans, monkeys, sloths, and iguanas. The sound of the water brings a tranquil atmosphere. Restaurants, banks, and other services are a short walk away. Accommodations offer guests a serene and peaceful home away from home experience. Each student gets their own bed, (there is no bed-sharing).
The rooms are equipped with full bathrooms and windows that open to beautiful jungle scenery. Although hot water is not plumbed into the main house, they do have a hot water shower on site available to all. However, the cool water showers are a welcome treat after a long hot day. Wi-Fi is accessible from the rooms and throughout the house. Fall asleep to the sound of a babbling brook right outside your window.
The course/hours count as Continuing Education hours for Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®) only.
Yoga Nidra means conscious sleep. It is both a state of consciousness as well as a practice. This technique slows brain waves enough to disconnect from the ego and experience a coherent whole-brain state.
Courtney is an ex-gymnast, spinally fused, 20-year yogi, Ashtangi, trained in India, with a gypSEA soul whose practice draws from ashtanga, Hatha, and Vinyasa. Her heart-centered approach evokes an understanding of interconnectedness through a focus on self-love, nature, and Seva (service). The intention being for her students to discover the light within that ignites their path to inner peace, the connection which opens the heart to universal love.
Yoga has been such a wonderful part of her life for over 20 years now, and this practice has helped her grow stronger, more flexible, and fearless, both on and off the mat. Yoga inspires her to live each moment more mindfully. She completed her 200-hour training with Sacred Hot Yoga Method and some advanced training in trauma-sensitive yoga, as well as several types of Reiki, Qigong, Taichi, and other healing modalities. She is also a 300-hour trauma-based RYT through Soulwork.
This first time she stepped on a yoga mat was the first time she pulled at a string that seems to be endlessly unraveling. Here she is, years later, pulling and unraveling, pulling and unraveling - only to remember that the work never really ends. This practice has given her power back - the power of being aware enough to learn in every moment. She learned that the only action between wanting to change and change is choice, that the ability to feel is a gift, and that this moment, right here, has all she needs to “know”.
The heart is the space in which Amber teaches as well as offers bodywork. She has trained and studied in many different styles of yoga and healing modalities as well as has been committed to her own personal practice. In each class, she brings a new intention to work on, and with these new intentions, she invites you to practice as you step off your mat. She believes the yoga mat practice is just the beginning. She has found ever-flowing freedom within the human body through the movement of yoga and surfing.
Uvita is a small village on the southwest coast of Costa Rica. It is notable for being located where the mountains most closely reach the Pacific Ocean and are the closest village to Marino Ballena National Park (roughly a 40-minute walk, or 5-minute taxi ride). This tropical hamlet possesses great charm in an unspoiled and serene atmosphere. With palm trees swaying in the wind, providing shady relief from the intense Pacific sun, there are plenty of outdoor options in this tropical paradise.
Uvita is the major stomping ground of Costa Rica’s whale and dolphin species. The nation’s most iconic and oft-spotted whale, the humpback, spends more than eight months a year in these waters – the longest humpback whale season in the world!
