    Swami Vipin Gyan has been teaching and guiding spiritual seekers and yoga aspirants for the past decade. He is the founder of Gyan Yog Breath Yoga Center in Rishikesh, India and introduces "Emotional Unblocking Treatment" and "Power of Transformation" meditation to his students from all over the world.

The retreat will be hosted at Gyan Yog Breath Yoga Centre, located by the Ganges River, in the heart of Rishikesh. From here, you get to have a beautiful view and can fully relax your body and mind.

The food provided within the retreat is based on a healthy yogic and sattvic dietary plan, three times a day: breakfast, lunch and dinner. The options are either vegan or vegetarian. All meals are deliciously and freshly prepared with organic and non-fertilized ingredients.

Concerts

Music connects you deeply with yourself and with others in the most extraordinary and liberating ways. At Gyan Yog Breath, you can host Jam sessions, concerts and Mantra circles. Don't forget to bring your instruments!

Healing therapies

Slum Children Education Project

A good friend of Gyan Yog Breath runs a creativity school for 400 slum children around. She does amazing work and the children learn so much. They are really good at writing, speaking English, dancing, yoga, science and much more. The students are taken there once a month, so if you are interested you can visit, play and do yoga with the kids.

Shopping

A really fun part about Laxman Jhula is having many shops, stalls, and stores. If you have time during your busy training schedule, go wander around for a bit and see what you can find. There are lots of fun clothing to buy like pants, shirts, shawls, and scarves. Some other items that are available in the nearby markets include candles, yoga gear, natural or Ayurvedic beauty and personal care products, religious items, healthy food, snacks, and much more.

Arrival by airplane:

Please book your flight to arrive at Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL), from where you can take a domestic flight to Jolly Grant Airport Dheradun (DED). The price of the ticket ranges depending on when you book it, but it’s usually around 70 USD. Upon arrival, you can use a complimentary taxi ride that takes you from Dheradun airport to Gyan Yog Breath's Centre, at Laxman Jhula.

Arrival by taxi:

Alternatively, you can also hire a private car to take you from Delhi to Rishikesh (6-7 hour ride). The cost is 40 USD. Gyan Yog Breath will be pleased to organize a safe taxi for you. The taxi driver will hold a sign with your Name up at your arrival Gate in Delhi.

Arrival by bus

The Volvo buses from Delhi to Rishikesh stop running around 21:00. If your plane arrives in Delhi in the evening, you will have to get a hotel for the night and then make your way to Delhi ISBT (inter-state bus terminus) in the morning.

From the airport, you can get a prepaid taxi to take you to Delhi ISBT. The price from the Delhi airport to Delhi ISBT will be 500 INR.

Once you arrive at Delhi ISBT, navigate your way to the bus station’s ticket stands, on the second level (go up the escalator). Go to the Uttarakhand State booth and ask when the next Volvo bus will be leaving for Rishikesh. The bus ticket approximately costs between 300 to 400 INR.

Once you arrive at Rishikesh bus station, find an auto rickshaw (tuk tuk) to take you to Laxman Jhula Bridge. From there it is only a two Minute walk to Gyan Yog Breath's Centre.

    Great experience!

    CONS Cons: Some people resisted to adapt in India. If you think you are going to have the same hygiene standards as in Europe for this price, then I'll have to tell you differently, it's not Europe, it's Asia. It would have been nicer if there hadn't been people constantly complaining about this and being more thankful because there was a lot of great things.

    PROS Pros: It was the perfect yoga school to get away from everyday life. I could fully concentrate on the knowledge the teachers had to offer, which was a lot of helpful and interesting things. I grew very much in the time spent there, not only as a future yoga teacher but also personally. If you are willing to fully open yourself to India and its ways as well as the yogic lifestyle this yoga school has great capacity to help you on your way. Besides that you also get enough time to discover the city itself. I had a great time, thank you!

Wir unterrichten mit viel Einfühlsamkeit & Aufmerksamkeit und probieren die Umstellung "Westliche Welt nach Indien" angenehm und liebevoll zu gestalten. Wir servieren vegetarische Indische Kost: Reiss, Chapati, Gemüse, Linsen & Früchte. In Deutschland wird viel Fleisch gegessen und Ei, diese Dinge sind bei uns "nicht erlaubt". Wir können also verstehen, das das Essen für dich nur eine 5 von 10 ist. Wir haben am 1. Tag zu dir gesagt, wenn du ein Problem hast oder etwas nicht verstehst, sage uns Bescheid. Leider hast du nie erwähnt, dass du dich nicht wohlfühlst. Wir leben und unterrichten wie in einer Familie. Unsere Lehrer sind präzise, langjährig ausgebildet & sehr aufmerksam. Die meisten unserer Schüler unterrichten nun selbst Yoga weltweit und das mit positivem Feedback. Indien ist nun einmal ein sehr anderes Land als Deutschland mit anderen Gerichten, Lebensweisen, Mentalität & Architektur.     A Yoga Teacher Training in the Heart of India

    CONS Cons: The foods was tastey, but I wish there were more low-carb options. As a diabetic, it was difficult for me to maintain my sugar levels and feel alert when the majority of the breakfast and lunch options were heavy in carbs (sugar porridge, rice, potato, bread, mango, banana). We were served cooked vegetables, but I wish there were more raw veggie options, or cooked veggie options without potato. I like the idea of toast with peanut butter for breakfast, if that can be done in the future. Because the meals made me feel drowsy, I ended up eating out a lot and spending my own $ which wasn't ideal. The yoga alignment class taught by Vinny was not well organized. This is such an important part of becoming a yoga teacher. I wish it had been more in-depth, hands on, and structured. It would be nice to know who should and should not do these poses based on pregnancy, injury, pain, stiffness, tension, disease, etc. As much as I loved my classmates and our togetherness, I wish the course had a silent morning, meal, or break time fit into the schedule. When you travel to India for a yoga teacher training, it is comforting having friendly, open classmates and instructors, and to embrace and appreciate such connectedness. But, I think the real benefit of such a training is to learn about yourself, to develop self-growth, to learn the power of stillness and silence, to feel alone and be okay with it. I'd suggest times of structures silence, as well as focused discussions about yoga.

    PROS Pros: I enjoyed the meditation, asana, philosophy, and anatomy classes the best. Anki (yoga, anatomy, yoga therapy instructor/co-owner), Siddhant (philosophy instructor), and Kamal (asana instructor) were incredible teachers. My classmates were the best I could have asked for during my experience, and the majority of us became close friends.

We can understand your opinion about the food and will try to provide more low-carb option. However, we would like to mention that we offer already two different kinds of vegetables per meal as well as raw carrots, tomato, cucumber and beetroot. We will improve on that and aim to provide even more varieties. You have to see that in our region we dont grow common salads and according to ayurveda, its best to eat vegetables slightly boiled. During the time you were with us, you told us that you are very happy about the food and you were also eating a lot. If you said it earlier, we could have improved while you were here. We we're also not content with Vinays alignment classes- so from now on Anki is teaching it again. You have covered the Yoga Therapy syllabus about Yoga in pregnancy and varies common diseases with hand on adjustments in your second week.     Great people, great yoga training

    CONS Cons: It was a little too hot at times, but you can expect that in India in June.

    PROS Pros: It was my first time in India and everything was new, but I really felt at home at the Gyan Yog Breath School. The people were super nice, the teachers were amazing, the food was home cooked and really fresh. I loved the whole experience, it helped me a lot to achieve my personal goals and peace of mind and I am really thankful to all wonderful people I met at the Gyan Yog Breath School.

    CONS Cons: The accomodations where not great. A shared room meant a shared bed. That was not advertised. Food was Ok but not enough variation for me personaly.

    PROS Pros: The practice of yoga is Very Good the classes are Very Well organized. I learned a lot. Everybody was Very helpfull and loving.

    CONS Cons: Leider bin ich erst am Montag angereist, also nicht schon das Wochenende vorm Beginn. Somit habe ich den Ausflug zum Wasserfall verpasst!

    PROS Pros: Rishikesh oder auch die heilige Stadt! *.* Erst mal zu den Betreibern des Yoga Retreats, ich durfte zwei ruhige und engagierte Personen antreffen. Man wird sehr herzlich aufgenommen und ich habe mich dort sehr wohl gefühlt, wie in einer Familie! <3 Bei jedem noch so kleinem Belange und Frage stehen sie zu Verfügung und helfen einem sehr herzlich weiter. Die Erfahrungen und das gelernte sind der Wahnsinn! Das Programm ist super durchdacht und vom Anfänger bis hin zum Vorgeschrittenen ist alles mit dabei. Ich könnte viel tiefer ins Detail gehen will ich aber gar nicht da ich der Meinung bin das jeder diese einfach für sich selbst machen sollte. So viele tolle Eindrücke; Momente; Orte; Menschen; Kurse; Information; persönliche Erfahrungen und Wissenswertes wie dort kann man nur für sich selber mit nehmen. Ich weiß das ich nächstes Jahr wieder dort hinreisen werde!

    "It's hard to put into words how much I enjoyed my time in Gyan Yog's Yoga Teacher Training Course! First of all, the small class size (there were 3 in my course), made it feel like a family! From day one, we were tested physically, mentally and emotionally, and it's because of this that we all grew so much in this 28-day period.     "Namaste! I have successfully completed my 300 hour Yoga Teacher Training Course with Gyan Yog Breath on March 29, 2017. The beautiful time in Rishikesh I will never forget. Dear Vipin, dear Anki, Thank you for your hospitality, your kindness and wisdom. Our whole group felt very much "home" with you. Our meals (always freshly prepared and delicious) and our weekend trips balanced out the hard work at Yoga practice. I am very impressed of the strict, friendly, corrective, aware and joyful teachers during the course. Thank you Vipin for the intense classes (sometimes also painful from emotional release). Thank you Ekin for all the interesting and interactive philosophy lessons. Thank you Kamal, Vinay and Monu for the great and perfect yoga classes.     "It was amazing experience being at Gyan Yog Breath. It says that if we want something and if we ask to God , he gives us . I always wanted to see inner natural beauty and always wanted to travel the world but the day I entered at Gyan Yog Breath, I travelled the entire world, the entire world was in one building, people and myself. I spent a month learning and going beyond my ideal together with different people from different countries speaking Different languages. Every day was different and full of self exploration. The Visit to Ganga and waterfalls were unforgettable moments of my life. Thank you Swamiji, Ankiji and everyone for everything. I am living my dream ! Really grateful for everyone and everything!"

    " I highly recommend this school. It is easy to get drowned in the multitude of yoga school options in Rishikesh. After looking around for a month for a school I decided on this one. The caliber of teachers are excellent. The location is beautiful. The atmosphere created by Swami, teachers and staff facilitates learning and self growth. The ashram location is a great spot to be, very close to the beach. One of my fondest memories, is sitting next to Ganga beach right next to ashram on a full moon night with friends from Gyan Yog Breath. The food is also very good, if you enjoy Indian food. If not, there are countless restaurant options, nearby. The education offered here is all encompassing, there are many schools in Rishikesh but this one is building a good reputation due to its hard work. Be open to all that is, accept and know that you are in good hands."

    "I loved India even before I visited it, I was attracted to the beautiful nature, the unique culture and history, after I got to India I didn't love it , I was in love with it, Rishikesh, rishikesh is described as the world capital of yoga, and I get to feel it, the peaceful ambiance, friendliness, people greeting u with Namaste all around , smiling faces, calmness, but the best is this yoga school Gyan Yog Breath, this is not a school for me anymore, its a second home, where you can learn and enjoy learning about yoga from the amazing teachers, their sense of humor, their clear and smooth instructions , the care they have for the students, you enjoy the classes and it feels like wanting to stay in class all day ! But we can't, because we have to eat! and here comes the food , the breakfast , lunch and dinner, the meals u can't miss, even if u r not hungry ! The delicious various, complete, healthy food, provided for everyone , anything u need u can ask anyone of the staff, helpful respectful, friendly, always smiling, and I can't wait to go back to the yoga hall, always clean, large, with a tremendous view of the ganga river, u can stay there all day, and feel the positive energy all around, just contemplating the mother ganga, gives me serenity, all the stress and anxiety is gone by just looking at it or just sit on the edge, this journey has been the best most rewarding experience I have had, and I would like to thank swami vipin for making it possible, and all the amazing teachers, one by one, this will not be the end, its the beginning of a beautiful journey with gyan yog breathand rishikesh.     "I have had such a wonderful time in Rishikesh, and a big part of the reason is because of this yoga school. I've come to both trust and respect my teachers, and will remember all of their kind words, their enthuasiasm about yoga (and life) and encouragement. I cannot thank the entire staff enough for how much I have learned from them, as they are all so knowledgeable and patient with all their students- myself included, as I am not always the easiest to teach (haha)."

    "The food was fresh and light, perfect for the course. I woke up every morning so excited about the beautiful fruits that are served for breakfast. I had a great time on our outing with everyone- the cave, beach and waterfall were all gorgeous and enlightening. Taking my first dip in the Ganga was something I'll never forget.     "After a long time carrying inside the inner wanting to experience a month of teacher training course, I finally did at The Gyan Yog Breath, where I felt genuineness and warmth. The course was for me truly amazing and I’m so grateful to the universe to have guided me to Gyan Yog Breath . All different parts of the course were like golden treasures that were unfolded to us - from the beautiful Hatha classes, acupressure treatment called Emotional Blockage treatment, some Ashtanga, amazing philosophy classes, a little Ayurveda, meditation classes, anatomy and more - all with so genuine and knowledgeable gurus. This experience is nothing I will put on the shelf on the wall for looking nice, but something that for me is to be lived and inhabited in every second. Why I also ended up doing my course in this very place, happily and blissfully enough."

    "Where to start.. First, I’m so thankful I somehow chose this place, this TTC, this teachers and that these people here chose the same time as I did -call it a coincidence or destiny- I’m just so thankful. From the first day, Anki, Vipin and their amazing team made me feel so good. I felt understood. The pressures of my western every day life slowly peeled of of my body.. Only because the emotional blockage treatments go very deep, I could go much deeper than ever before into myself, my problems and my future path. It really helped me to relieve a lot of old stress and pain from my body."

    "Gyan Yog Breath is a very unique and special place. My experience here, over one month, has opened my mind and my heart in countless ways. Having completed the 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training has not only shown me what my physical body is capable of, but has helped me to become a strong and confident individual. I was in the course with six more students and we were very well taken care of. For westerners coming without any other experience to India, it is a very comfortable way to arrive. At the Centre, any sort of help is available 24/7 and the food here is prepared with love and care in a hygienic manner. Also, the program is very comprehensive. In such a short amount of time, I was able to understand so much about yogic philosophy, as well as practice. My month with Vipin, Anki, Pankaj and Kamal has helped me on my path to becoming a safe and effective yoga teacher. Rishikesh is also a beautiful place to spend some time. A very holy place, right on the banks of the Ganga River. Rishikesh is a properly Indian place where one can still find some western comforts. Plus, there is a bounty of natural beauty here, with countless waterfalls in the area, beautiful jungle and views of the Himalayas. My time here has affected my life in a very profound and positive way!"

    " It has been a beautiful and amazing month as a student at Gyan Yog Breath. The teachers are experienced and great, the food is very good, the location couldn't be better and the organized trip on our free day was really nice. I was also lucky to be there during Holi and the school organized a private party for us so we didn't have to go on the streets. Our safety as students has been their number one priority from the day we arrived there and I felt really great that I didn't have to worry about this. The only regret I have is that I didn't book the 300 hour TTC instead of the 200 hour but it just means that I have to go back very soon!!!"

Rishikesh itself is a very tranquil and interesting place, spiritual and refreshing. I remember at the beginning asking Vipin in meditation whether if someone has too much pain they can ever be better and I remember him saying “usually I help all people with pain”. He was right! Thank you for bringing joy back to my life and making me smile again always. I really enjoyed all aspects of the course and sometimes I even question why I’m smiling so much now. What is wrong with me?! Haha. I never knew much about yoga philosophy and always focused on the physical aspect of yoga more, so it was great to learn more about the yoga as a lifestyle than just exercise and have guidance on this.     "I joined the yoga teacher training in February 2016. it was a very interesting, transforming and eye-opening experience. Vipins 'power of transformation' meditation is powerful and his 'emotional blockage treatment' is painful but every effective. For me, after one month I felt more light with myself, happier and energetic to face the world outside.     "This is such a powerful practice. The teachers were warm and friendly and I felt comfortable to release whatever needed to come to the surface. It was so powerful I could feel deep blocks on my heart being released and energy blocks in my arms and legs being released. I felt lighter and more positive as a result of the session. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone looking to get closer to their higher selves. The emotional blockage treatment was even more profound. It's probably the most painful and intense healing modality I've ever experienced but it's also one of the most life changing. Vipin works so intuitively. I remember he touched a point on the base of one of my hum and said 'oh you felt so much fear as a child' I was in complete denial as if somewhere in my brain I'd shut out the memory. As soon as he began the session I couldn't deny this any longer all the years of pain and suffering flooded my body and memory. I re-experienced these intense emotions while also sending my inner child compassion and love."

    "I went to a number of Vipin's meditation classes. I really enjoyed the pranayama, I felt totally relaxed during the class. The classes made me feel energized. Vipin and his staff made me feel at ease and welcome. Take warm clothes as can be cold when laying on the floor. Thank you for a wonderful experience, looking forward to coming back next month.     "There are hundreds of yoga schools to choose from in Rishikesh, India and I don’t really know why I ended up at Gyan Yog Breath! Lucky I guess! The swami is hilarious and immediately put me at ease, and rests of the teaching staff seriously know their shit. They made me work hard! One of the things that really stand out from the other Indian yoga schools is the small classes and individual attention I got. It was the confidence-building that I really needed & it just grew day by day."

There are fancier schools in Rishikesh with bigger buildings budgets (free t-shirts!), but what attracted me to Gyan Yog Breath was the focus on the spiritual life and the personal attention of the teacher. They honestly become like family to me. I feel like I was turned inside out, stretched every way imaginable(!) and sent back into the world more capable and centered with a true understanding of who I am, what I have to give, and why.     "I didn’t know what I wanted when I arrived in India. Rishikesh was calling to me somehow, and I started to learn yoga at one of the Indian Yoga centers and fell in love with the life it began to me.
