Described as the place “where Robinson Crusoe meets Architectural Digest”, Haramara Retreat Center is a magical and idyllic place created and designed to provide a natural and supportive environment for groups, couples, and individuals to relax, renew, and restore well-being. It is known for doing everything possible to make the group instructor’s work effective and the guest’s stay magical.

Haramara (“Mother Sea” in the native Huichol Indian language) is an exclusive, intimate, and secluded seaside retreat offering superior mind-body-spirit experiences along with sensual tropical harmony to every guest. Haramara offers serenity, seclusion, and security to ensure relaxing and renewing yoga and wellness retreats, as well as professional retreats, teacher trainings, and workshops.

Deep thought and consideration was given to the placement and location of every structure at Haramara, so as to remain “at-one” with the spirit of the land, the jungle and the beach, with minimal environmental impact. Haramara has been built without mechanical equipment compromising the virgin jungle and every structure has been hand-built using traditional construction methods. The planning of Haramara took into consideration the environment and the quality of your experience.

Scattered across the beautiful tropical hillside, each individual cabaña has been hand-built of all natural materials and offers exceptional views of the ocean and jungle canopy. Each cabaña is situated to offer privacy and seclusion while still taking advantage of the spectacular views.

The cabañas have been designed with your comfort in mind. Enjoy the rustic luxury of any one of our spacious cabañas, which feature comfortable beds with hand woven sheets, gauzy sheer curtains to filter the sunlight, and oil lamps and candles for softly lit evenings. Most cabañas have private hammocks for lazy afternoon naps. Each cabaña has its own unique and individually designed private bathroom with hot water, monogrammed towels and an open air shower with a view.

    Yoga shalas

On two separate knolls, each with a different but expansive view, sit Haramara Retreat Center's two magnificent yoga shalas. Each yoga shala has been hand-built of all natural materials with high roofs and handcrafted hardwood floors. Both yoga shalas are positioned to take advantage of the panoramic and ever changing views of the lush mountains and vast ocean while also taking advantage of the soothing ocean breezes.

The Sunrise Shala sits at the top of the property facing primarily north and east with a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean and coastline to the north and the jungle and Sierra Madre Mountains to the east. The Sunrise Shala is fully open air and unenclosed.

The Sunset Shala sits on a promontory in the middle of the property facing primarily west with a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean and coastline from the south to the north of the retreat center. The Sunset Shala is fully open air but can be fully enclosed with folding doors.

    Discover your dharma

To live your dharma means to become an agent of evolution while living within the frictionless flow of creative inspiration. What is it that you are capable of giving to the world? Now is the time to stop holding back due to fear, uncertainty, and indecision.

Learn how to break the shackles that have bound you to a mostly forgettable life. Together, you will formulate a new framework - a step-by-step process - through which you will learn how to discover your dharma. The world needs your full potential, each and every one of you.

    The rounding experience

In a residential setting, experienced Vedic meditators will do "rounds" (multiple repetitions) of specialized yoga and yogic breathing followed by meditation. Known as "rounding", this is a process that releases months worth of stress over the course of a few days and yields the most profound meditation experience possible.

    Immersion introduction to meditation

Some participants will be learning Vedic meditation for the first time during the retreat. This is an ideal setting for total immersion in your new practice. In addition to receiving personalized instruction, you will participate in rounding, group meetings, and have private meditation time without distraction to optimize your meditation experience.

Each day the schedule will be changing as you transition away from lecture and instead, put most of your time to the practice of meditation and rounding.
