Dosha balancing

In Ayurveda, the building blocks of life are comprised of five elements: earth, water, fire, air, and ether. The three doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha—are derived from a combination of these elements. The doshas, known as ‘mind-body’ types, express particular patterns of energy—each a blend of physical, emotional, and mental characteristics. Every person has a blend of these threes doshas, with some being more prominent that others which can cause you to be unbalanced. On this retreat, you will explore different yoga asanas (poses) and pranayama (breathing techniques) to bring the doshas into harmony and balance which is the Ayurvedic ideal.

Detoxification practice

Detox your body and mind as you are guided through yoga poses that will leave you feeling cleaner, lighter, and more energetic as you consciously focus on sequence with rejuvenating twists to remove toxins, sprinkled in with poses to stimulate digestion and the thyroid gland, build muscle, and get your digestive track working to optimal levels.

Vinyasa flow

An invigorating and dynamic class involving a continuous series of flowing postures characterized by rhythm, breath, and sweat. Go at your own pace and be prepared for a fun, challenging practice set to a funky soundtrack. This practice allows you the space and time to explore your body in the poses enhancing your strength, flexibility, balance, and endurance. It’s perfect for anyone and everyone.

Yin yoga

Bring balance to your body with this deep opening style of yoga practice. Yin yoga is designed to restore your tired, sore muscles by gently and slowly working the connective tissue by holding poses for an extended period of time. This Yin style of yoga compliments any type of physical activity especially surfing and is a great way to balance out the Yang in our everyday lives.

Slow Vinyasa

Offers a gentle, guided introduction to Vinyasa flow. Take the time to slow down and master the key posture transitions while developing your core upper body strength. This class is ideal for beginner, or the more advance students looking to fine tune their practice.

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra means yogic sleep. Yoga Nidra is one of the deepest forms of meditations, leading awareness through many levels of mental processes to a state of profound stillness and insight.

Meditation

Meditation is the most effective way to cultivate a happy life. Learn how to transcend the ego and start to quieten the busyness of the mind. Food

You will be introduced to a whole new approach to health through enjoying natural foods that will gently cleanse, detox, and rebalance your whole body while delighting your taste buds!

Everything served is farm to table and made with love which creates meals bursting with flavors and high nutritional content. The retreat menu focus is on an organic plant based dishes full of freshness and flavor – they also offer non-vegetarian options that are sustainable and free range.

Rather than serving family-style meals as is the general standard on group retreats, Goddess Retreats is able to tailor each dish to the guests’ personal tastes and dietary health requirements.

The food philosophy is based around the belief that mother nature knows best. While Goddess Retreats doesn’t believe in a totally raw food menu, they do believe in the benefits of a plant-based diet with low human intervention, where the food has undergone no (or minimal) changes from its place in nature to your plate.

For example, a piece of sweet potato on your plate may have been steamed or roasted but is still recognizable as a sweet potato the way it came from the earth. It is through this simple, yet essential philosophy, that Goddess Retreats has found guests have been able to re-evaluuate their relationship with food and effortlessly start to a healthier lifestyle after they return home.

Detox and cleanse

1. A light cleanse and detox

The menu is full of nutrients to sustain and energise you while also promoting a gentle detox and light cleanse which will have you feeling energised and glowing.

2. Alkaline and balancing

Many of the dishes on the daily changing menu are created with Ayurvedic principles in mind to balance the body’s doshas and reduce inflammation by being soothing and alkaline. The menu has been crafted to complement your yoga, health, and wellness retreat program.

Delicious and healthy

The food philosophy is simple: you will simply be served with exquisitely tasty whole food meals, with a healthy dose of raw food prepared in the kitchen using the freshest ingredients.

The focus is on freshness and flavor. It starts with high quality ingredients, such as farm to table organic greens as the featured ingredients of the plant-based dishes, plus options of adding sustainable wild seafood and free range chicken.

What you can look forward to

Your retreat package includes 3 health boosting spa treatments that can be taken at your leisure throughout your retreat.

Let Goddess Retreats transport you with Ayurveda, an ancient holistic healing art that originated in India. According to Ayurvedic teachings, there are three subtle energies, called doshas, in each of you that are related to the five elements (air, space, water, fire, and earth). Your doshas fluctuate from time to time and can become unbalanced. Ayurvedic treatments restore that balance, rejuvenating your mind and body through massage and nourishing your skin with fine oils, herbal powders, and aromatherapy blends.

Treatments

Choose any 3:

1. Balinese massage

This massage uses the traditional Balinese techniques of firm finger and palm pressure together with long stimulating strokes. Performed with your choice of essential oil blend, this local therapy eases body tension and invigorates the senses.

2. Abhyangam massage

Abhyangam is a full body massage with medicated oil; the principal healing tool and the mother of all massages in Ayurveda. It is known to have healing benefits by naturally harmonizing body, mind, and spirit.

3. Udwartana

Udwartana means to energize and elevate the whole body. A specially blended medicated powder is deeply massaged into your body using specific palm and finger movements. This treatment is performed to complement a weight loss regime as it tones muscles, stimulates blood circulation, and reduces cellulite. By revitalizing the skin and sense of touch, it enhances youthfulness.

4. Open chakra massage

In order for you to be balanced, Goddess Retreats needs to make sure that your chakras (energy centers) are open. This unique massage combines an Ayurveda practice with medicated oils and special pressure techniques to detoxify and release blockages. The treatment goes deeper beyond the physical level, by touching your soul and healing unsolved issues. An emotional reaction after the massage may occur as this is all part of the cleansing process. Essentially, it clears out and processes your emotions and memories that have previously been unconsciously held on to.

5. Balinese boreh ritual

This traditional Balinese herbal scrub and massage treatment uses an age-old recipe to prevent colds during the rainy season. It involves a paste made from fresh herbs and spices, which is applied to the body to increase blood circulation and ease muscle pain. A DaLa foot ritual begins this indulgence and continues with a tension-relieving Balinese massage. The highlight is the boreh paste created from natural ingredients such as turmeric, ginger, clove, cinnamon, coriander, pepper, and nutmeg. A soak in a revitalizing herbal bath will have you floating out of this treatment.

6. Compress massage (60 minutes)

Three different types of compress massages are available for you to choose from:

  • Patraswedha elakizhi (herbal medicated oil): A mixture of herbal leaves, grated coconut, mustard, and rock salt. The proportions of these ingredients vary according to different ailments. The leaves are fried with several other herbal ingredients, tied linen pouch and then dipped in warm medicated oil ready to be skillfully massaged over your whole body. This is a highly effective treatment for muscular pains, sprains, cramps and swelling of the joints.
  • Shastika pindasweda njavara kizhi (rice and milk): Njavara is a special kind of rice widely used in Ayurveda treatments. It is cooked in milk and a concoction of medicinal herbs that gets tied up in a linen bundle and massaged all over your body. This treatment strengthens and tones skin, tissue, and muscles. It also helps alleviate symptoms associated with joint pain, rheumatism, and osteoarthritis.
  • Podhikizhi (herbal powder): Podkizhi is another method of therapeutic treatment of the body with linen bundles containing a powder mix with various herbs. The compresses are heated in a pan smeared with castor neem oil and applied all over your body to induce sweating. This treatment effectively relieves ailments involving vitiated vata and kapha doshas, for example rheumatism and joint pains.

7. Shiroabhyangam

A soothing head, face, and neck massage of the head, neck, and shoulders is performed with warm herbal oils. This massage increases the supply of oxygen to the brain along with improving blood circulation. It is not only relaxing but has many health benefits and is believed to stimulate the scalp, enhance sight and the power of concentration, facilitate sound sleep, and reduce headache symptoms

8. Pada abhyangam

A stimulating leg and foot massage with medicated oil massage that activates the acupressure points of your lower legs and feet with medicated oil. It is performed to relieve tired toes, induce deep sleep, reduce hypertension, soothe cracked heels, and soften the skin.

9. Kativasti

An Ayurvedic medicated oil Treatment for back pain: The waist area of the body is called kati. A rectangular, leak-proof reservoir made of black gram dough is built up on your lower back, around the lumbo-sacral area. Lukewarm medicated oil is then gently poured in. The oil and the receptacle are kept in place for about 30 minutes and after removal, the affected area is gently massaged. It is beneficial for all spinal ailments, back pain, and muscular discomfort.

10. Shirodara

Dhara means flow and this treatment involves a continuous stream of warm herbal oil poured from an earthen vessel onto your forehead. The oil can also be replaced with medicated butter milk or herbal infused milk. As one of the most popular Ayurveda practices, this treatment profoundly relaxes the nervous system and relieves stress. It also improves memory, enhances deep sleep, and helps with migraines plus ear, nose, and throat disorders

11. Padagatta

During this treatment, the Indian-style Thai massage is performed by two therapists using the soles of their feet as they carefully balance holding ropes that are suspended from the ceiling. This unique technique is extremely relaxing and known to eliminate deep-seated pain in the bones and joints as well as help remove toxins and fat.

12. Empress facial ritual

This luxurious royal facial uses fresh and natural ingredients that are perfect for all skin types. Your face is thoroughly cleansed and then exfoliated with a gentle scrub of lavender, chamomile, and natural honey. Sliced cucumber is used to tone your skin and a steaming mini pouch of sesame seeds lavender and green tea is placed on various points on the face for a comforting effect that stimulates circulation. A traditional Indonesian rice pearl mask is applied to clear pigmentation. The chilled surface of a jade roller is then used to caress your skin, close pores, and stimulate energy flow.

13. Sundararya vardhini facial

This Ayurvedic beauty regime helps firm and shape facial features as well as to improve your complexion. The application of a face pack and cream made from herbal ingredients is followed by a face, head, and neck massage using herbal infused oil. It is suitable for all skin types and works well for pimples, flecks, wrinkles, sagging, and eyelash loss.

14. Hair wash and hair cream bath (90 minutes)

Sit back and enjoy a soothing shampoo and application of conditioner for an easy comb out that will leave your hair feeling fresh and fragrant; followed by a hair cream bath, a vital treat for your hair and scalp that also lifts the spirit. Your scalp will be massaged with a rich avocado cream to stimulate circulation and release tension. Steaming follows to hydrate and preserve suppleness.
